I think it would also be nice to have the option of adding a "donation" tab to each hub. I would gladly donate a $1 or something to good hubs when I know the writer could get paid little to nothing through adsense. I think it would also keep more writers spirits up to keep producing hubs.
Thats a good idea IMO. It could also be something that organic traffic would use if an info hub really helped them. It might not be used much but to have it there would be nice.
Hi MarineAlways24,
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll add it to our list of features to consider.
-Larry
wow, very comprehensive! just wondering if you might want to add "media players" (plays MP3 and other music, videos, podcasts, etc.). if not, that's cool. thanks!
Hi Cosette,
There is an MP3 Players category in Technology/Audio & Video
-Larry
I like the section on Green Products. This is a very important area for the future.
ZOWEE!
You certainly have packed a lot of pertinent subcategories in that will be very useful. I look forward to this development.
Thanks for progressing Hub Pages even further
Hi Whitney05,
Thanks for the suggestion. I've added Computer Accessories at:
Technology/Computers/Buyer's Guides/Computer Accessories
-Larry
What is Hydo? and the list looks great. Awesome job as always, Mr. Larry,
Hi Dame Scribe,
Thanks for noticing.
It should be "Hydro". I confirmed that the category is spelled correctly (even if my forum post was not).
-Larry
Hi Mr. Larry, your welcome and it's no biggie...was jus teaasing even I make typos
This is quite interesting. Are these categories live? i need to check.
Nice development. How about pc games like PES 2, PES 3, GameBoy, SEGA, etc? I think that would be nice too?
nice! im new here and I dont see category for cellphone maintenance and how to for cellphone technology
Hi geraldgarces,
The cellphone category is found in:
Technology/Communications/Cell Phones
-Larry
Hi mtsi1098,
There is already a History of Technology category in:
Knowledge & Education/History & Archeology
-Larry
how about affiliate domains routerpages.com and switchpages.com:)
Larry, the only one on which I can comment is #5 (Green), and I very much like the way that looks.
Is there a category where I could write about automotive workshop equipment and machinery?
Hi EarnestHub,
Thanks for the question. I created a new category "Automotive Workshop Equipment & Machinery" which can be found in:
Automotive/Repairs & Do-It-Yourself
-Larry
Larry yer blood needs bottling!Thank you for that.. I guess I should get busy on it soon!
This category looks good, but one question: What if you have a topic regarding the combination of science and technology? Where would that fit in?
Hi Beth100,
It's your call.
I would say that if you want to emphasize the science and use different technologies as examples, then it fits somewhere in Knowledge & Education.
If you're focus is on the technology and how it works, then it fits somewhere in Technology.
I hope that helps.
-Larry
Hi LiveWithRichard,
Thanks for the suggestion. I just added "Home Theater" under Audio & Video.
-Larry
Great break down of hte catogires
However I would make this only suggestion ( now don't hate me ) on-line games and gaming under computer section.
Reason Being I have seen a number of Hubber's who are also gamers. and under this category could give very useful advice and critics to help parents and others get the right games and game related materials for and hopefully avoid making some costly mistakes
Hi Watch Tower,
Thanks for the suggestion. On-line Games and Gaming was a tough one to fit since it could fit under Gaming or it could fit under Computers & Software.
I'm not sure I follow your reasoning why it would be a better fit under Computers & Software. It seems to me that your reasoning suggests creating a "Picking the Right Games" category which could be fit untder Computer & Video Games. Would that address your concern?
-Larry
Its a nice breakdown of technology. A wide and detailed listing of categories may increase traffic here.
Hi Mr. Larry,
Great breakdown of categories and it is really comprehensive. I like the Communications (2nd Level Category) because this is where I will be watching some tags like business phone greeting, fax software download, and anything about business phone. Nice post!
Why do we need so many categories and sub-categories? For me it just increases the amount of time I am obliged to spend scrollong through lists either to post or read a hub.
What exactly are the benefits?
Hi Sannyasinman,
For the author, it does add a little time. As you get used to the categories, it goes much faster. I would suggest using the search tab which makes it go even faster.
The benefits are additional links to your hubs and it makes it easier for readers to find your hub.
For the reader, it really doesn't add too much effort. Most readers come to hub pages through search. The category pages help readers find content that fits their interest.

Poetry and short story hubs are not really very likely to earn, just thought I would mention that with this sort of donate button a person might be encouraged to put their fun writing here as well as selling hub and info hubs
Thanks. Poetry is what made me think of it because of little to no earnings. You are right, I think it would be great and benefit all hubs.
Wow, that's a lot of sub catagories. Should just about cover it.
Larry, thanks for all that you do and yes, I think these are great! It should help to define some of the forum postings and will be a terrific timesaver for many of us.
This is a good idea. Please avoid duplicates. Eg. Cell Phones are in Audio & Video as well as Communications although one is just "Cell Phones" other one is "Cell Phone Technology".
Hi Laswi,
The list in this thread is old. It was a proposal.
Here is the real list.
If you see any duplicates, please let me know.
Cheers,
-Larry
* Green Health & Personal Care
Where is green products for drinking water - fall in this category?
Hi Kelly,
Drinking water as a topic would probably best fit in:
Health/Nutrition/Water
or
Health/Personal Health/Water Quality & Health Risks
You can see the full list of health topics here.
Larry, how about "PBX/Phone Systems" under "Communications" ?
Hi Glenn,
Thanks for the suggestion. I added a PBX category at:
Technology/Communications/Data Communications/PBX
-Larry
Sounds really good, can't wait until I can use this new feature.
Me also like to use or have the second level of technology. I think that it was just there the fact is that I can't avail.hehehhe,......But interms of faxing or something about communication. You may use the RingCentral Site it is nice and a improvise technology of communication...That the communication technology that you are looking for..Nice post""""
How about an Internet Marketing section to cover things like PPC, SMO, E-Mail Marketing etc.
Hi Peter,
I added an Internet Marketing category under:
Business & Jobs/Marketing & Sales/Internet Marketing
I also added subcategories:
Internet Marketing/Pay Per Click
Internet Marketing/Social Media Optimization
Internet Marketing/E-mail Marketing
-Larry
Considering the amount of people who'd be willing to write on MAC or linux , I feel that the computers and software category can be split into OS and applications again .
I think it's a great proposal and the suggestions would make for some interesting hubs. Unfortunately I'm not very technologically well versed, otherwise I would consider one of your suggestion. On the other hand I know of some other hubbers that would do a fantastic job in those categories. I hope they come to this forum. Great suggestions, thanks.
How about an "I'm An Idiot With This Kind Of Thing, Help Me Out?" Section... Believe me, I need that section
Hi Pani Midnyte Odin,
Thanks for your suggestion. At this point, I would suggest using this as a title for a specific category.
For example, if you wanted to explain how computers work, you could the category:
Technology/Computers/HowTos and Explanations
and then call the hub something like:
"A ... Guide to Computers"
If you come up with any hubs that don't fit in any existing category, feel free to post on this thread and let me know.
Cheers,
-Larry
-Larry
Hi lyricsingray,
For any "Hubdummies" tips, I would use this category:
HubPages/Getting Started with HubPages
-Larry
Great ideas - I would like to see "Websites" added to the internet category as I tend to write a lot of best websites Hubs. Or did I miss it somehow?
Hi suziecat7,
"Websites" is pretty general. I would suggest using the following category for your hubs:
Technology/Internet
