After starting the other thread about how you get ideas for your hubs, I started thinking and wondering what is your motivation and where do you get your motivation to hub?
Is it money? To take up spare time? Learn something? Help someone? What?
Again, I'll start... I will admit that the money is great and is definitely a motivation in itself, but after I quit my job at a pet store, I needed a place where I could share my love for animals and help people with their pets. HubPages is that place.
hey, well for me, i'm using this place as a great way to practise my writing and reviewing so hopefully I can work as a freelance writier for a website or magazine reviewing music and films, appart from that it's just nice to rant about something!
I concur. This is really one of my favourite reasons for contributing to this site. And like jjrubio says, its good therapy. Its always been good therapy for me. As a child I started writing early on and all of the positive feedback given to me by friends and family members cemented my love of the pen.
As for where I get my ideas for topics....many just come to me. I'll stay up late writing things out in dead tree format then begin a new hub only to use half of what I originally wrote.
My biggest inspiration, right now, is to help make heads or tails out of the economy. But I'm also always up for doing fun, silly stuff. And weird stuff. And stuff.
I am a writer for newspapers, magazines and the Internet as well as being an author, poet and singer-songwriter so I am on the lookout for ideas and also coming up with them pretty much all the time. I have published a lot of articles that are not online but have already appeared elsewhere (eg most of my Tenerife hubs) as well as a lot of totally new hubs. My problem is not coming up with ideas but with finding the time to get them written down and organised! This place is a showcase for my work and somewhere I can spread the word about people and subjects I am interested in and don't have to worry about editors or deadlines! If I make any money that is great but if I don't it doesn't worry me because I really appreciate this site!
It sounds stupid, but I use the money as an excuse to write! If I just wrote just to be writing, no one would understand. This way, I can say "Yeah, I write for this website online, and I get paid for it!" "What do you write about?" "Oh, you know, a little of this, a little of that, pretty much anything I feel like." So, basically, I pretend to be an accomplished author when really I'm just doing this so someone besides me can read my work! Although, I do wish more people would be a bit more critical, as I am always looking to improve myself...."Great hub" is nice, but it doesn't tell me anything...SPECIFICALLY what did you like or dislike and why?
I figured you'd say, "I get my inspiration from my Lord Imadork."....I mean, that's where all MY inspiration comes from...
Thank you RB! Nice to know somebody still worships me. In the forum post "What Hubber Would You Like to Meet", nobody picked me!
Forgive the Lord, for they know not what they do!
My inspiration to write is just writing itself. It is therapy to me...and if someone enjoys what I write then good! if not, too bad. And the money...I don't make crap for money on here. I don't know the tricks of the HUB trade so if anyone has any pointers on that...school me!
Otherwise...I will keep my day job preparing Subpoenas all day!
I'm just dorkin' around. having fun with the alphabet. Inspiration is 1 part dreams, 2 parts the world around me and 97 parts hard work.

What is the most challenging part of creating a hub for you?The hardest thing for me by far is coming up with titles! I tend to change them at least four or five times while I'm writing, and am still never happy. What parts of hubbing, big or small, is the most difficult or annoying for you?

What part of writing your Hub do you find the most difficult? Or any type of article for that matter? The intro has-is-and will be the hardest part for me personally. It shouldn't be, but this is the part that I have always struggled with.I will make an outline before writing any hub. List all...

What do you think of people who ask a question then use the answers to write a hub? What do you think of people who ask a question (in forums or answer section etc) then use your answers and turn them into a hub? Would it bother you?

It's coming up on a year for me at HP. Do you have any advice on what areas to improve in my hubs?I earn about $2 every 2 weeks for nearly 100 hubs! I've done all I can think of: backlinks, youtube, polls, maps, links, SEO, blogging elsewhere to direct traffic back, have ads, excellent pics,...

We have probably all been there, but given my favourite topic is writing about cruises and tips and tricks for getting the most out of a cruise holiday.... well lets just say the changes to the world over the last few years have made me feel aimless. When the cruises stopped, so did I, and I have...
