For the past couple of days, it's been reported that Google was on the move again.

My stats (which were decent to begin with) show that my traffic just doubled! Happy days are here again. big_smile

Is that happening to you as well? (Please tell me that this isn't an HP Stats glitch!!!!)

    Here are two reports:

I knew it was too good to be true.  It's an HP glitch:

But, those links I posted for the Google algorithm are real, so read those articles.

Strangely and for once, my Hub stats did +/- match my Google analytics stats.
Isn't there a glitch in Hub stats all the time? Why don't they match analytics'? I rather believe in what Google measures than what HubPages does, especially after the many many stat bugs hmm

Although I do not have vast views I am experiencing an increase. As far as HP glitches my answer section questions show no views, even though there are answers while Google show views. My questions get more views than my hubs at times with bounce and exit just above mid range. I am just now understanding those - bounce and exit seeking reader engagement. I am still not sure how those relate to my hubpages account contrast a web or blog.

Writer Fox ,  Usually I would look at my stats first thing.  But this instance I read your post first and was a bit cold when I read it, meaning I wouldn't believe you.  Then I went to my stats, and wallah!  never seen such good traffic for a long long time,  I have actually given up.  But now I'm over the moon.  I am almost at the down end, not motivated at all to write more.  But now I am energized.  Let's see for the next few days.  Hope it stays this way.  CHEERS!

Unfortunately, it is indeed a glitch, Good Guy. Check out the forum link Writer Fox posted above. Matthew Meyer confirmed it. sad

Big crash for me.  Started June 18.  Plunged again.  Very sad.

Wow, Webmasterworld has a new look!

My stats doubled too ... but you are saying it's a glitch so my happiness is short lived I suppose

One of my articles always gets a lot of views this time of year, so I don't know. But I hope this is a good thing for everyone else.

There's definitely validity to something going on so thanks for sharing those links.  One of my main websites where I took a hit before and ended up at the bottom of the first page search results, has me at the number 3 position again for a key search term and my earnings and traffic yesterday reflected it very nicely.  I am very pleased smile

I also have been doing a lot of updates and really tweaking my site descriptions and text that show up in the search results - and it has helped.  My description is a lot more enticing than the ones around me.  I'm going to keep doing that because it obviously worked for me along with doing some minor tweaks and adding a bit more relevant content to my pages.  I experimented with one section of the site to see what would happen with some little adjustments and now I wish I had been more aggressive about it.  lol.

Onwards, and hopefully after much disillusionment the past year and a half or so, upwards again.  Here's hoping that HP follows suit soon and we'll be cheering not because of a glitch but actual improvements to traffic smile.

Actually, I'm seeing some improvements. So, maybe the algorithm update is doing something.

When I said I'm seeing improvements, I was going by GA stats.

My traffic hasn't doubled, but has been rising.

My views are down. I'll be hoping to see them rise.
I'm for happy Hubbers who are seeing red arrows.

My double red arrows are off the chain right now. But I don't think it's real. HP views are more than double GA, so I'm cautious about celebrating.

Edit: Stats page just updated, looking closer to "normal," red arrows have decreased. However, views are a little higher. smile

My views are taking a serious nose dive since I looked 20 minutes ago.
The One Day Views should all be ZEROS soon.

Hmmmm. Well, those links certainly complicate our understanding of what's really happening. Thank you, Writer Fox, for sharing this information about the Google update. As ChristinS stated, something is apparently going on. It can't be a coincidence. I hope it turns out well for us in the long run.

My views seem normal again so maybe it's fixed.

I have seen a terrific increase in my views. There are double and triple red arrows. It seems things are getting well.

My views are down, down, down.  Well, we'll see what happens....

  12. Jodah profile image86
    Jodahposted 10 years ago

Well, I will be disappointed if this is a HP glitch. My views, red arrows, comments and earnings are all up a lot this month compared to the previous few. I thought it may have been because I have gained a lot of new followers lately and have been more actively sharing on social media..but sadly it appears this may not be the case. We shall have to await the outcome I suppose.

It looks like HP overall lost about 4.2% in traffic (Quantcast) from the last Google update.  And, that was after a larger site traffic loss due to the design changes HP made in May, which have not been reversed. hmm

It looks like my subdomain gained a little traffic by a few hundred views a day, but I can't really tell if that's a seasonal shift or not.  (I don't have any summer Hubs.  I have some for Father's Day, but that's over.)

Anyone else notice a traffic shift (other than the day HP had the Stats wrong)?

    1. NateB11 profile image86
NateB11posted 10 years agoin reply to this

I had an increase in traffic on Monday, but it looks like what it does regularly when my traffic peaks, usually near the end of the month: Up and down pattern that it usually follows. So, not sure the algorithm had anything to do with it or just a usual pattern.

Mine are up about 7%. They went down about 20% back when there were changes, but since they have been going back up it is just about to where it was.
      No seasonal shifts here.

I've actually been doing a little better than average over this past week, but I've also been more proactive than usual at promoting my stuff... I'm taking some vacation time from work, so I have more time at home to fart around on the Internet, haha.
