Due to another thread, should there be other writing sites I should be looking at?

Not really.   You were right on another thread, HubPages (or at least the niche sites) are still the best place to write.   If you want to have a bit of fun, you could try Steemit.   It will probably go the way of Bubblews eventually, and it's a slight hassle to have to convert your earnings from virtual currency, but I think there's money to be made in the short term from posting vacuous articles. I've just been too lazy to do it.

@Marisa. Well, now. I thank you. Probably every former Bubblews  person made a beeline straight there. I  made around $1000 from Bubblews before the flame out. lol

Squirrelly site indeed. Tried to sign up, but was unable. Never even asked me for a password. Clicked email verification to no result. Indeed as much a mess as Bubble was.

What with flash fiction not being worth earnings cr@p, thought I would post here. Yep, it's on my website with zero views.

Edit: what I would have put on Steemit.

    The Antique China Shop

The bull entered the antique china shop. He began walking up and down the aisles, occasionally examining select pieces.

The shop was a mom and pop operation. Mom and pop were behind the front counter, watching.

What the bull didn’t know was that mom and pop were a pair of con artists. Virtually every item for sale in the place was counterfeit.

The bull finally selected several pieces and placed them on the table in the middle of the shop for further examination. He opened his briefcase and took out his magnifying glass and UV light. He began to study several of the pieces. There was a long pause...

Mom turned to pop. “This is not going to end well.”

Knocking down one day at a time. Wrong way to go.

Visited Indian casino yesterday. Lost. Been a year. Going to be another year before I go back. People were nice, there is hope for humanity.

Meanwhile, "Knocking down one day at a time. Wrong way to go." is a real problem for me. I do not believe in afterlife; we are as important as bacteria, i.e., nobody cares and it does not exist.

Joy and sad. I remember my young, stupid, joyous days. Whoever you are, thank you for that gift.

And then there is now. Intelligence.

    And on Facebook.

Because the first rail lines were built by the same people who built the pre-railroad tramways, and that's the gauge they used.  Why did 'they' use that gauge then?  Because the people who built the tramways used the same jigs and tools that they had used for building wagons, which used that wheel spacing.

I just saw a recent interview with Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis looking back at making 'Thelma and Louise' and Sarandon said that your version was an option right up to the last days of shooting the film. So maybe you heard about it somewhere along the line? I'll see if I can find the interview (good luck with that...).

I feel a bit silly about using it, but I have a page of allegedly "emotional words" that make titles more popular. And here is a link to an article that addresses the  title question pretty thoroughly http://buzzsumo.com/blog/most-shared-headlines-study/. I don't claim to know for sure that using these emotional words or specifically designed titles works, but I will admit to trying it out.

Funny, but I recently retitled one of my articles, based upon a link that purported to be an index of "most clicked-upon in search engines," I.e. gain good traffic.  I selected one such phrase, and HP subsequently moved it to a niche site...but not before totally changing my brand-new, carefully selected title! So...I never got the chance to see if it worked!

Amazing. Another writing project has indeed come to mind, a third done already. Frankly, I don't have much hope for it trafficwise. But it's a fun one and for anyone who does happen to read it, it will truly save them much grief some inevitable day down the line. It really is too bad that Google will never let anyone see it. Neither would HP, guaranteed QAP flunk.

Monday morning and we stumble into a new week (Sunday doesn't count). Nine days left to reach our respective payouts, leastwise for me. Late October and 99 degrees predicted in my town today, a WTF moment if there ever was one.

Meanwhile, already not looking forward to updating my hubs again in January to get the 2018 date; we all know why. This, as opposed to my updating around 10 website articles over the weekend without fear.

Nothing exciting to report and no memes have come to mind, but the week is young.

May we all have an outstanding week.

Overnight, the good folks at Stormspell Records sent me digital promos of their entire Fall/Winter 2017 release slate - 5 albums in total...which is awesome, cuz I was just sayin' to myself, "I'm about due to write some new stuff. ...but what the @#$% am I gonna write about?"

Their timing is especially excellent, cuz traffic to my "back catalog" has been taking a major dump for the past week or two, so a transfusion of fresh material could be just what the doctor ordered.

Now I just have to find time to listen to everything! Nice problem to have, wish it happened more often.  big_smile

Saturday. November just around the corner. Pretty much going to be an RW combat month for me. Will continue writing, but probably won't publish anything new for the rest of the year; will have a nice inventory, come 2018. Am, however, doing website updates all over the place for the rest of the year, been neglecting that; 100+ articles to deal with. @DzyMsLizzy, the aforementioned article has been published; when there, simply click "Home". November will also be thief takedown month, I'll either be filing DMCA's, notifying Google, or having a collection agency sending out bills; this applies to both hubs and website. And then there's the medical, don't know what adventures await me there. So, other than that, should be a peaceful month. Leastwise I won't have to deal with Halloween or Thanksgiving, am ignoring both. As time permits, will be throwing in some quality of life improvements as well. An interesting November indeed.

The more I look at the Q&A section of this site, the more I wish the HP Powers That Be would just close it down altogether - because actual, serious queries are rarer than hens' teeth. That part of the site has become a haven for drive-bys, scammers, spammers, and general numb-nuts.
If I were a first time visitor to the site and saw the constant stream of almost-English gibberish that clogs up that section, I'd skedaddle.

        1. paradigmsearch profile image59
paradigmsearchposted 7 years agoin reply to this

Well, the two aforementioned obstructions turned into outright sabotage.

          1. A perfectly functioning inanimate object suddenly stopped functioning for absolutely no known or discernible reason, thus sabotaging the functioning of a dozen other inanimate objects. The timing of the failure was a true case of entropy in action, almost as if it was sentient. That piece of sabotage I was able to overcome and fix.

          2. The second sabotage was the result of a human who had the comprehension abilities of a chimp. Said human has absolutely no business being allowed to work in any sort of office environment. I'm going to be forced to go down there in person and find someone to talk with who has an IQ of at least 80. That's right, 80. That was all the IQ that would have been required in order to have taken care of the problem, but the person I was forced to communicate with on the phone failed to meet that criteria.

Done for the day as far as the stress stuff goes. Rest of day is routine chores and preparation for tomorrow's further adventures.

Was at Walmart, getting new glasses. While waiting for appt., picked up bunch of items for purchase and put in carry cart. The glasses place stashed the carry cart and items for me while I did the glasses thing. When went to get the carry cart and items, discovered someone had stolen it. Wise person that I am, I hadn't purchased the items yet. So this is a funny story, not a sad story. Besides, 90% of shopping at Walmart is finding the items. Now that I know where said items are all at, it'll only take 10 minutes to duplicate. What a town.

Meanwhile, the week's adventures continue. Only 2-1/2 more days of it.
