Well, it's been a very entropic sort of day!  planning to get some stuff done ahead of time before T-day tomorrow; all well and good.  Hubby started out in a good mood, but that didn't last.  I needed to go get cat litter from the place that sells it super cheap; so far, so good.

HOWever, I was delayed in leaving by a (ahem--personal issue in the smallest room).  Then, once I was able to leave; I got all 3 of my errands done in a reasonable time frame.  Except for my first stop.  As the volunteer worker was helping me load the free cat food and cheap kitty litter into my car, wouldn't you know; opening the rear hatch before the doors caused the alarm to sound!  GRRRR!  It's never done that before!
So, in my hurry to go open the door, didn't I step into a hole in the pavement next to the curb, and down I went in a flat fall, impaling the middle of my palm on a sharp chunk of the asphalt, and taking out a chunk of meat!

Picked myself up, bleeding, and got in, used the hand sanitizer to clean the wound....OWWWWWCCCHHHHIIIIEEEE!!!  and went about my other errands, hand clenched together so as not to bleed on anything I touched...no, of course I had no band aids with me!

Got finished, got home, and hubby came out of the house, no longer in a good mood.  Apparently entropy struck at home while I was away, and he'd dealt with things spilling, falling on the floor, phone not working properly, etc....
So he was already peeved, and when I showed him my hand, his reaction was not sympathy, but irritation!  Threw me for a loop, as that is way out of character for him.
He went on raving about "well, I WAS in a good mood..."...and worse...I tried to ignore it, and just get things done.  I apologized to Mom, as she shouldn't have to listen to that kind of crap.

So, I hope "Murphy" has had his fun with us for this particular holiday, and will allow us to enjoy the day tomorrow, when the whole "fam damily" will be here!

Hope you're mending Mz Liz take it easy, please. It all sounds awful. Chill guys.
Edit: good work getting the cat litter, that's essential!

Thanks--the hand is stiffening up a bit at the moment, but I suspect it will heal eventually.  Bad spot, though; right where your hand always bends, so I don't know how fast it will heal, as every movement wants to open up the sore again.  Sigh.
Maybe I oughta sue the landlord of the parking lot... mad

Edit:  yeah, the cat litter was essential--they were scraping the bottom of their litter pans!  And that's never a good thing...it usually results in one of them in particular deciding to use some spot other than the box.  Glad we don't get that low very often!

I read your posts. I sincerely hope the rest of your Thanksgiving weekend goes much better. You did not deserve any of that stuff that happened.

Meanwhile, here's a copy of my idiotic Facebook post for the day. big_smile

          -----------------------------

The Wiggly Worbs of Whackerville #1

The Thanksgiving day clandestine turkey meetings continue..., “This mass genocide must stop!” the turkeys cried!

The platypi were unsympathetic. After all, nobody was coming after them.

Meanwhile, the motorcycle officer continued to hide behind the billboard in the desert. A peace-loving, hippie van drove by. It did not end well for the peace-loving, hippie van.

Black Friday fights and brawls soon to be here, there, and everywhere. Not exactly a testimony to our species.

December is a week away. No doubt the usual 31 days of holiday chaos will ensue. Wonder what the end of year 2017 will bring.

          -----------------------------

          Stay tuned for more.

Traffic appears to be taking a pre-holiday dump. Too busy with real world stuff to worry about it (shrugs).

Totally unrelated note, Judas Priest didn't make the cut for the 2018 Rock N Roll Hall of Fame induction class, but Bon Jovi did.  I love JP as much as the next metal head, but the inevitable rage posting across social media from angry metal fans has been comedy gold so far today.

    Onward!

I just received a Postcard in the mail today. It was from a friend who lives in the same town. A beautiful Art card reproduction of a classical garden...And on the card, my friend wrote: "your phone is not working, and my computer is not, so I thought I would try and reach you this way". How sweet is that? I have no idea how long the card sat in my mailbox, so tomorrow I'm buying phone minutes and sending a post card, all of the above. I remember the days when the only way we communicated was by Snail Mail.

I remember those days as well; it saddens me some, that we no longer look forward to a trip to the mailbox, for all that awaits us there now are junk and bills!
I had about 14 pen pals at one time, when my kids were in high school.  I really enjoyed newsy and informative letters from folks in the UK; Australia and New Zeland, and even one in neighboring Canada.

I just found a quote by Steven Spielberg about technology that sums a lot up:

“Technology can be our best friend, and technology can also be the biggest party pooper of our lives. It interrupts our own story, interrupts our ability to have a thought or a daydream, to imagine something wonderful, because we're too busy bridging the walk from the cafeteria back to the office on the cell phone.”

Hey Gregory, renaming things seems to be the trend. Some for valid reason, others not so much. I still call the streets in my town by the names I knew when I was growing up. It makes for a little confusion if anyone asks me for directions.

Speaking of Christmas lights, I haven't put any out for years. I've got some old ones laying around somewhere. I'm going to try to find them. Canada doesn't get much exposure around here I've noticed.

Sounds great. My Hubs are not doing too great on social media but I am getting Google traffic for some of them at least. I try to share them but I don't want to spam either.

I haven't had time to do much social media sharing lately, so this was a nice, unexpected gift from a gracious nowhere. big_smile

Ending 2017 on a prolific note - I just finished pushing out two in-progress hubs that have been hanging around in unfinished form for way too long.

Soon... there will be beer. Oh yes, there will.

Happy new year everyone. Onward and upward into 2018!!

Well that's good...I had a pretty good day too considering it was a real world work day, all went well. I got 25 'articles' featured in the past 30 days, fixed all the rest. unpublished everything else, working overtime! And look, no don't look, at my profile score, scary times.

Even hubs with good traffic don't earn much on the hubpages.com domain, but that same hub with the same traffic on a network site domain can earn lots. I found this out when I switched to straight adsense for awhile. In fact, that is the reason why I moved all my hubpages.com domain hubs that HP didn't want for their network sites domains onto my website. Some of those former hubs are now doing very well.

I read your advice a few weeks ago about editing for the new years date, and went through about 50 old hubs the last few days. Most were already on Pethelpful but I still got the message that a lot of them had been snipped. Did you know that "snipped" includes editing the title?
I also do not have an apostraphe on my keyboard (it is not English) so I guess HP does not like my "work around apostraphe" and they snip it and add one of their own every time they edit one of my hubs. Whatever.

Press and hold alt and then 39. Use numpad only when entering 39. This will get you the apostrophe whenever you need it. Got this info from https://www.alt-codes.net/

Useful for all sorts of characters, e.g., ☺☻♥♦♣♠•◘○. Or was this the workaround that HP didn't like?

I actually have a similar key, right above the cedula ç, (which you guys do not have), but it must not look the same to HP. It is ´. Looks okay to me!

Parts of the US East Coast are going to be slapped with a severe winter storm overnight... the news sez that part of it will include high winds and sudden temperature plunges, which is a rare phenomenon called a "Bomb Cyclone."
