Denise- don't tell me about how neglectful you are when it comes to reading hubs. I'm worse than you. I just try to use every little bit of time to either read or work on my own writing. How selfish is that! But it is the thought that counts and the truth is I need to be more supportive of all of you. And of course, spend less time in the forums arguing politics and religion. That's a big waste of time!
Beth- thanks for the comment. I'm pleased with the response the hub has had. I'm not much of a poet and I don't even think of it as poetry. But it did come from the heart.
Has anyone seen Mark? I'm worried about him.I know what you mean. ALL I want to do is write, write, write, but I can't. It's been a grueling two months and I'm still not meeting two deadlines of important legal matters. I've had extensions thank goodness. But time just keeps tick tick ticking away. Everytime I think I see the glimmer of light ahead there is another obstacle to tackle or go around. It is an amazing maze---well, maybe more a labyrinth!

I was just walking my dog and found a black cat with a baby pigeon in his mouth. So, of course, me being "Miss Francis of Assisi" (as my husband calls me) had to scare the cat and save the pigeon. Now I have a baby pigeon resting in a box in my balcony and I have no clue what in the world to do with it!
I've been reading on how to feed it and all of that, but it seems so hard! I don't know what to do! My husband's going to kill me!!! Wait till he sees this one!! I might have to make a stop at Walgreens, get a syringe and some bird food of somet'n... Why do I do this to myself?!Why do you do this to yourself? I know why Klara. Because you are a sweet, caring and loving person. That is why. Do you think the bird will make it? Linda would like to have a Seagull for a pet bird . She just loves them and love the sound that they make and me too. When I hear that beautiful sound I know I am near the Ocean. Take care of your new pet and get it flying again. Once you help the bird and it goes on it's merry way I am sure it will come back to your balcony to say Hi and Thank you. You are a good person Klara
xoxoxxoxNoooooooo! I don't want any more pigeons nesting in my balcony! I've had two nests so far. The first one laid an egg and then the egg disappeared mysteriously. This morning I found another nest built overnight because I had cleaned the balcony last night, and I just threw it away. The pigeons step all over my plants and poop everything! This little one is going to the wildlife bird rescue tomorrow, first thing in the morning. It's outside in the balcony, in a towel-lined box with holes so it can breath. I won't try to feed it or give it water because I've been reading online and I can literally kill it. I'm not taking any chances.
Mark, I've got hundreds of seagulls. They've always been one of my favorite birds, but I'll tell you... these South Florida seagulls are gangsters! They attack the tourists and take the sandwiches and cheetos right out of their hands. They ain't kidding 'round, you know what I mean?
I hear ya Klara. Seagulls have guts. One time on the Island when i was first married I invited my friend and his wife for dinner and have some beers of course. The house in which my sister now has is right on the bay with a dock etc. I cooked some great chicken on the grill and it smelled so good. My friend and I went to the end of the dock shooting the breeze and all of a sudden I heard many Seagulls very close and turned around and they (5) were on the hot grill eating my chicken. I ran to the grill to scare them away and they went with every piece of chicken and went to the top of the house roof and ate it in front of me
I threw stones at them so pissed off and missed everytime but the stones I threw did hit the house across the street many times
They are brazing Klara. stay clear but enjoy the sound and the beauty of the beast

Linda is off to Pa. now for a 80th Birthday party for one of her co-workers. Long ride in the rain for her but she will have a great time. The party is in Bensalem Pa and catered so it will be nice.

I've had people telling me that I look like a young Bette Midler and a couple of people that said I looked like Rachael Ray, which I don't mind because she's very pretty and talented, and she is one of my favorite famous people. We literally eat Rachael Ray at least 4 times a week.

It has rained here for two full days but I will take the rain instead of snow. I wish you luck in your house hunt and job search. I have to tell you a short story. About two months ago I put a application online for Sear Holding Comp. (K-Mart) and took the one hour online test and heard nothing. I have put so many apps in on the PC and heard nothing.
Linda had a frog she made for a birthday party she went to yesterday for a co-workers 80th B-day. She went to K-Mart to see if they had a box to put this concrete frog in . A women came up to her and asked if she could help her and Linda said yes I need a box. The lady got the box and Linda BTW my husband put an application in here a couple of months ago and gave my name and she said she would look it up and will call by Wednesday if she could find my online app. I said the heck with waiting so I went there today and asked for Barbara the head of HR believe it or not that is who helped Linda. I went to her office as and said I would like to introduce myself. I understand you spoke to my wife and she said come right in. I was there for 4 hours. She said I love you and not letting you out of here until you get 2 interviews. I had the 2 interviews, got hired and sent for my drug test all in 5 hours. I didn't expect that I just wanted to meet her so she saw the face behind the app. I start May 20th. Wait to my job finds this out. Thats it!! less than 2 miles from my homeCONGRATULATIONS Mark! That is wonderful!!! Let's hope that no one from your current job reads these posts, or you'll get into a whole lot of trouble. But either way, May 20th is just around the corner. I'm so very happy for you! You'll finally get the change that you needed and wanted. That wife of yours is your lucky charm.

I am happy even though the pay is way lower than I make now, but just to have the piece of mind and no traveling, plus to be around happy shoppers instead of people crying on my shoulders. That alone can bring anyone down Klara , plus having your boss continue to tell you "life sucks and you die " everyday . I too positive of a person to listen to that crap

You must not give up hope because I feel something is coming your way soon Beth. You need to just keep positive as I did and not give up. I started my dream years ago and my mom always told me " Mark your ship will come in" and I always said what happened to it ? Did my ship run a ground or sink? But she was right it did come in. It just took longer than I was willing to wait. I truly think I drank because I wanted this so bad I was having such a hard time getting to fulfill my dream, but as soon as I stopped drinking everything fell right into place. I guess you have to help yourself before you can be helped.

My wife Linda is kind of worried regarding the money, but we will make it. Pathmark just closed after 25 years here all because of Shop rite Kmart still hasn't given me drug test results. They said 48 hours and it has been since Monday afternoon. Plus they said the wage would be 10.00 per hour until summer season is over and then drop down to minimum wage and said What? should't it be the other way around.Klara I am going to do just that and ask her. Not happy about that, but mind you, I haven't written a new hub in a while (a few months if you discount my blueberry cake I wrote a few weeks back). Oh well, I ride the blue wave as it comes.
As for K-Mart, get the straight goods from her. It's better to find out before than after, also, do you not have the opportunity to negotiate the wage? It seems perplexingly odd that your wage decreases after being hired. Maybe she's use to hiring people who are not so savvy about their employment rights. Maybe she is aware of other companies who are hiring in the area?? Networking is the best way to find work as many of the opportunities are not advertised. (this is the difficulty that I am having since I am new to this city. I virtually have no, yes -- no, contacts in this city. It's really difficult, even with my experience and background). Have you tried HR agencies or looked on their websites? I spent last week touring the hi-tech area in the city, and have been going building to building writing down the tenants names and addresses. I have compiled approximately 50 companies that I can search their websites for employment opportunities. It's a gruelling excercise, but I'm hoping that something will happen.

I met my the Realtor at the bay yesterday that I bought my house from and explained about Kmart etc. She said her friend works there and it is horrible. They work you to death and pay nothing and then she said have you tried Costco?
I said no and went right home and did the online app. This Costco just opened 4 years ago and I watched a show they had on last night all about Costco and the guy that started that is amazing and rich LOL too. Today I took the less than 10 minute drive to costco and asked to speak to the manager. They told me where to go and I met him and explained I just put in a app last night. He said they get over 200 APPS per day He then said they only pull apps that people come in like I did to meet them and not just fill it in on the PC and forget about it. He pulled it and said you will be hearing from me. They start at double the wage of Kmart and their PT employeee Ins. is 80/20 and full time is 90/10 That is what I need .see what happens with this one.

@ Mark -- Costco sounds like a good one! Pat yourself on the back for walking right in and taking charge. That's wonderful!! Maybe I should try this tact! But not sure how well it would work for me. There was an announcement two weeks ago for major cutbacks in the government force here. Being in the Nation's Capital means that almost everyone is government employees. There's going to be 30,000 job cuts and they're sending pink slips beginning today (totaling 15,000 for week 1). They've already closed the government service outlet in my area. I have to go to the next town to get my services. Not happy and the competition is going to get really tough over the next year. I've sold my house and have to move to a smaller and more economical place, except it's hard finding suitable accommodation for 5 kids within their school catchment areas. I'm having seller's remorse now..... On a brighter note, with the job cuts, there will be a higher vacancy rate than usual and there should be an increase in for sale signs while prices drop a bit. (yea, a bit of oxymoron there, but....) *deep sigh* On an even brighter note, just got another payout!!

No wonder my fingers are killing me LOLOLOYeah, I did the referral tracker, but that's only done on the bio page, right? I've made $10.24 in almost two years.
I guess it's better than nothing, since I wasn't expecting anything. But Mark, tell me what else can be done to promote the hubs. And what is the Keyword Academy and Ezine? I'm so confused! There are so many of these sites, but I can't pinpoint which ones are worth a try.
I'm very happy with HP, mostly because of the community and I like their lay-out, looks very professional. But I guess it won't hurt me to try other things, right?

If you go to my profile page there are links to Ezine Articles. It is a writing directory that doesn't have adsense for me to use. In the resource box at the end of an article I write I have (links back to HP and my clean life BLOG.) They are a huge directory and you get lots of traffic. Look at one of my articles and you will see the links at the bottom. Click them and it should take you to either HP or my blog.

NOW when you write a hub and want to link to another hub, go to the bottom of the hub you want to link and look for the "Link to this HUB" at the very very bottom of page in green. Click those words and copy the link HP gives you and put it in the hub you are writing. The default tracker # is in the link HP give you. When someone click that link when reading your hub you just wrote you make impression money. I used to cope the browser up top of the page for 20 month so I lost $$ all that time.

Keyword academy I pay $33.00 per month this site is a teaching site and writing platform as well. When you publish a article they need to approve it and another site takes your article and places it in their site. These sites are very large and I do it to get more exposure and hopefully traffic. No, it's not just for the profile page. If you "share" someone elses article anywhere (FB, pinterest, google, etc.) or if you link someone elses hub in your hubs, you should put a referral tracker in that hub. If someone clicks on that hub, you will make a % of the revenue from that hub. Now mind you it is a small amount but every little bit adds up. So in other words, it pays to share others hubs.
I've really learned a lot since being part of this apprenticeship program about keywords, etc. I strongly recommend going to the learning center and reading the info in there about the keyword tool and play around with it to tweak your hubs. I wish that I would have done that a lot sooner! Yes, it is a full moon coming up this weekend - May 5. In fact, it's going to be a SUPERMOON as the moon will swing in 221,802 miles (356,955 kilometers) from our planet in it's elliptical path at the same time that it reaches its full moon phase. That means the moon will be 5x larger, visually, than what we are use to seeing. It's going to be gorgeous!! Not only that, it will be the largest full moon we will encounter this year since there will be no other full moons aligning with the close proximity of orbit to earth.
Watch the tides on the night of the supermoon. The tides will extremely strong and high.

Yeah! I have two colleagues coming over and we're walking to the beach with our drums! It'll be fun. I'll write about it for sure. I always hear the drums in the distance but I've never gone. This time I will. I just got back from the beach with my husband. So beautiful!!!

Cara, we had a similar situation at my school a few days ago. A lady who works as a security told the child to sit at a different table and the kid went home and told his mom that she had grabbed him by the neck. Now the mom is going to come next week to fight the school employee. It's the second time this happens. The first time was with the kid's teacher, and they had to call school police.
Hang in there... school year is almost over! But you did the right thing by closing the door in her face because she has no business being in the classroom to begin with, even less during school hours. You have your rights as a teacher. She's just going to have to deal with that fact.
I think I might be catching another cold. I'm sick of being sick, and I know it's all caused by the allergies. But after a year of weekly shots I guess I was expecting to be feeling better. Maybe I was wrong. I might just have to deal with the fact that it's always going to be like this. Nothing I can do about it, except stop moaning and moping around the house and get out and live life as best as I can. Some things you just can't change.

Good afternoon all
I am FINALLY getting sleepy after the horrendous night I had at work. FULL MOON ? HECK YES! I got pepper sprayed last night. We had a patient who 'went off' and during the scuffle between him and the campus police I was caught in the crossfire of their mace. NOT FUN! It only hit my arm and uniform. I didn't care about the uniform pants-a dime a dozen, but the top was my favorite and not easily replaced. I was more p.o.'d about that than the fact that we had to wrestle with this guy and put him into seclusion.
The best part? He got moved from the open Adult unit to the locked down Acute unit and guess what? I will be working Friday through Sunday in the -- you guessed it--Acute unit! I get to see that little booger and four other aggressive patients all week end long.
Beth-- yes, hahaha I AM working this w/e Good luck on your interview. Knock 'em dead, girl! (we'll be chanting positive mantras for you )
