just Hope you had a wonderful day. Linda and I went to the beach and it was beautiful. The water is so clean. They have a dredge out about 1/4 mile or so pumping sand to our beaches. what an operation that is. tractors and all kinds of equipment on the beach. The beach is much higher at the house and so much wider. Lots of beach has washed away over the the last couple years from storms etc, but not now, it is awesome!!!!
It is amazing laying down all the pipe in the ocean and pumping sea water and sand up to the beach.
I have to go to bed, I have written 2 more articles on EA. I promise to read you new hub tomorrow at work. You know what I don't even feel like going there tomorrow.
They ask (my asst) are you still putting out the flags for Memorial Day? I said I will do some but you are going to have to finish, sorry my friend
I put out myself 1500 flags each memorial day all by myself with no helpGeez! That's a lot of work, Mark! Can't they just have a single flag waving above?
Mother's Day was okay. I visited my mother's grave, then met the rest of the family for a BBQ. I'm about to go to bed... so tired!

@ Klara -- would you like to come over and help me bake this weekend? It's a long weekend and the kids are gone to the cottage with their dad. I have a HUGE empty house (except for the dog, fish, birds and squirrels). And, it's going to be sunny and hot!!!
@ Mark -- don't over extend yourself. They should have thought about this waayyy before now. Don't burn your bridges either. Just do the minimum that you have to -- that way they can't complain and bad mouth you, and you can leave feeling like you still did a good job at the end of it all. Work to rule. Don't pass your toes past that line!! Let them stick all those flags themselves. There is nothing like honest work to make someone appreciate those who do it.
@ mtsi -- ha ha ha nah, no leftovers, but I will be making a white chocolate raspberry cheesecake in two weeks. Would you like a slice of that?

Must have been in the air today Klara. I found out that one of my really good boys (and they are few and far between this year) who has been absent for about a week now is homeless. They are staying in a motel right now but they don't know what they are going to do. At least the dad came by the school and we are trying to get him hooked up with housing assistance and transportation to get the kids to school. Yes, sometimes it really is too much. It is all that I have been able to think about tonight.

Spent the morning getting a manicure and pedicure and the afternoon fishing with my grandkids off the pier. One man caught a baby shark. It was interesting until he started clubbing it to kill it, which was very upsetting to us. Then, a nice family meal out at Bonefish Grill.
I'm sorry you teachers are experiencing such sadness in your jobs with some of your kids.

Well, I got the job offer. But, I'm not that ecstatic about it.
Less pay than what I asked for plus they want me to start immediately. I'm earning more by staying home than heading out to work. Figure that one out. =

@ Klara -- it's heartbreaking to go through what you do with the children at the school. It is very similar to working in the hospital -- you can see what is happening, you feel for the patient, but there is only so much you can do to help. It feels powerless and it guts you. Hang in there. Only 19 more days to go. The children are lucky to have you -- a teacher who cares about them and who invests more than just her lesson plans. You are touching them in great, positive ways that will affect their lives forever. You are one of the people are injecting hope into their lives. Remember that when things get this tough.

Have a good day everyone!I did the unthinkable. I turned it down. There were many discrepancies between what the executives told me -- between themselves and with the employees. I know a few that work for this company, and I've been talking with them all morning. I also spoke with the person who has been promoted out of this position. She explained what is happening -- it is completely opposite of what the executives told me (which didn't surprise me because between the three executives, their explainations didn't match up). I did not have good feeling about them after the last two interviews. Even less now.
I have to hit the job ads again. -.- But, it feels good to turn work down rather than being told that I'm over qualified and can't be hired.I'm so friggin' proud of you for being smart and doing what most people don't have balls to do! We get stuck in jobs that stink because we settle for what's available instead of being smart and making choices. You are one intelligent woman! I have to give you that!
How is everyone today?Thank you Klara. I took my last position because I wanted it, but I didn't care much for one of the Directors, who ended up being my boss because the Director who hired me retired. The new Director made it impossible to work == and there were plenty of lies flying around in every space she walked through. I didn't like it then, and I still don't like it.
Yea, you're right. We settle only to find ourselves unhappy. Worse case scenario for me: loss of income and no home. (well, I'm still house hunting but there might be an end in sight on that one). And, really, there is no loss of income. I'm making some loose change here on HP.

Well just got home from orientation. I have never seen such Happy, Up, Positive people in my life at Costco. I feel as if I have been working there for some time already. They welcomed me with open arms. I am not used to be treated like a human being and not talked to like a piece of crap.
they asked if I was starting in the 23rd and I said the GM told me the 24th. My boss said the GM said 23 and I said if you need me I will be there on the 23rd. I just wanted to have 1 day off before my new job, but what the heck it is only one day. If it were up to me I would start tomorrow and forget the flags etc.
I have a feeling I will be full time in no time the way my boss spoke. I am so so happy and the first time in many years. I just love it !!! and 4 mile from home

Everything happens for a reason. Just like me with Sears Holding Comp.(Kmart). I took me drug test 3 weeks ago on Monday that just passed and they didn't even call me with the results. I was hired and filled all the w-2 and paperwork to start, but the never called or followed up on time and exact day to start.
Every thing happens for a reason and so, I then landed the Costco job in the meantime. Kmart must of not been the job for me.

Reporting in from vacationland in Florida. We spent the afternoon touring the Air Force Museum here at Fort Walton Beach. It was so interesting and I took lots of photos in case I should decide to write a hub about it.
Take care all...I will be en route back to 'reality' in N.C. tomorrow. Time has flown and there is still so much to see and do. I want to see the Nati'l Seashore here, but don't know if we'll have time tomorrow before my flight.
Oh well, I am tanned, relaxed, and have enjoyed these last few days with my youngest daughter. She's so busy when I'm in Michigan I barely have an opportunity to really sit and talk. It's been great without the distractions from home.

I'm off for the night too. Just coached 2 hours of soccer in the freezing wind in shorts and a t-shirt. It was beautiful when I started, but once the sun started to set, it became mighty cold. Parents were frozen too and not happy that it went so long. But the boys had a grand time. We're division 3 and they played a division 1 team -- lost 4-2 but they put a lot of heart into it plus it was the first time they played as a team (whereas the opposition have been playing several years as a team). My boys did terrific!

I love that you do all that for the kids. Those are the memories they'll have once they're all grown up. My husband coached the YMCA soccer team at my elementary school for a year. He couldn't believe how exhausting it was working with the little ones. Now he understands what I have to go through on a daily basis.
Mark, do post a picture... if not here, at least via FB. We want to see you with your penguin dress on! BTW, I'll be writing a hub about my disastrous gigs - there is a wedding involved. I think you'll get a kick out of that one. But I feel inspired, I just did another hub and I'm very pleased with it. The government announced last month that there will be 30,000 layoffs in their sector, and since I live in the Nation's Capital, there is going to be major competition for work. The position that I just turned down had over 400 applicants. But, I'm glad I turned it down -- they will be shutting their Canadian doors within the next 3 years. This is the major reason why I turned it down.

I felt like a movie star when walking Stefani down the isle.I never had so many cameras pointing at me at the same time LOL. The food was excellent and the DJ as well. A girl took that pic of me a Stefani and I am not to fond of mine. Once the girls get up from drinking all night they will download lots more on FB and I will find a much better pic or pics to post here.
Not a bit of sun out here today, so cloudy but warm. I have to get a shower and take my Tux back to Toms River . Mens Warehouse messed up on a couple tux but the guys get it right. The groomsmen should of checked the bag before they left the store when picking Tux up LOL
@ Klara-- There was only one thing that went bad . My friend now 7 months sober could take it and broke and drank towards the middle of the reception. I told him if get that urge to stick by my side, and talk to me but I guess the demons had more control than I. I feel so bad for him and he will feel the same this morning when he wakes.
You need to be as strong as hell to beat the alcohol. One sip and you are doomed Klara. He hid on the side with someone that was drunk as hell and probaly told him :" come on one drink won't hurt and that was the end of 7 month sober life

Well, I've had an interesting weekend to say the least.
Mark-I LOVE the photos! Awww, the last walk and the last dance: the daddy/daughter dance. Please tell me what song she picked.
I think both Cara and I are ready for R & R even though I just got back from Florida. I know Cara deserves it more than me and is WAY overdue with her class from H E #$@ $%# Oh, and check out her facebook page for her son's (is that my grandson? haha) latest adventure!!!
Anyway--I worked on Friday and on Saturday morning got a message that my 52 year old brother (my nephews father) had a heart attack and ended up in the ICU after coding and being rushed to the hospital. Then, he was in stepdown on Saturday when I spoke to him and later informed my sister they were discharging him on Sunday. I was NOT happy. It's been a mess and me up without sleep x 2 days making umpteen phone calls to the hospital and nursing staff there.
I was supposed to work Fri-Sun and was able to get off of work early on Sun to go home and sleep. It's been a rough one for me and I know also for Cara. she had the Relay for Life this w/e in Michigan. All nighter from Saturday morning at 10 a.m. to Sunday morning from 10 a.m. Bravo to her.
Happy week to all...I have been feeling more and more disorganized!!!!Ah Denise I am so sorry to hear about your brother. That is so sad, but I am glad to hear he was being discharged on Sunday. man you have going through so much Denise. Please try to get some rest because I (we) don't want anything to happen to you!

My last day was today 5/22/12 and start new job tomorrow. The pres. didn't put in for my vacation they owe me when she said she would . I was pissed. Just keep putting the shaft to me to the bitter end right! She said she was doing interviews to fill MY JOB and she made sure she said it loud. At the end of the day at 4:20 she said can I have your key and as I gave it to her she hands me 2 checks and made sure she waited to give them to me for fear I would leave early.
She called paychex and got all the figures taxes etc and said I knew you were mad so I did this for you.NO party , NO nice to have worked with you NOTHING. Well I guess 22 years of loyal service doesn't warrant things like that .

Hi all...it's almost 3:30 a.m. and I am home awake! Was asleep until 2 a.m. when I woke up and couldn't fall back to sleep...well, that is the norm when your usual waking hours are at night while everyone else sleeps...

@Marky-WELL...first, I'm going to miss being able to pick up the phone and call you while you're at work...no can do now that you have this new one and have to be on your best behavior, Second--I feel for you re: the ingratitude!!! I've been in similar situations where one employee would leave and there would be a big going away party and I would leave the following week and not even a card to say farewell. BUT...in the end, my friend, you get the last laugh--you never have to return there again-and I hope you didn't buy any burial plots there either,

We won tonight -- 2 to 1 !! First game, first win!! Hi Beth and congrats on the win. Thank you so much and I will write tomorrow to you. I got home about an hour ago and my feet are killing me. I must of walked 15 miles LOL. I love the job Beth and I was alone from 4 pm to 9:30. I pick it up like I was doing it for years. Everyone is so so nice and Happy too.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEK END early to all...I will be doing my shifts Thurs and Fri eve and sleeping Saturday-but, hopefully only in the morning. I hate sleeping my day off away; then, by the time I wake up it is late afternoon and everything is closed or events have ended. The drive is horrible back and forth
It is a very busy place and never stop except for 2 15 min breaks and lunch. I just bought that meter (what ever you call it) to measure miles because I know I walk many miles in that store and this weekend is very very busy do to the weekend coming up!!
May 24-27th is the Road Show where all kind of vendors cooking and trying to sell our stuff. I will loss so weight in this job for sure. I am off Monday and tuesday in which I will hit the beach I am heading over to FB to read you hub shortly

It will always be busy during holidays, but that short drive is worth it, I hope?
Just finished a hub about my experience while living in Panama during the invasion. It brought a lot of nerve-wrecking memories. Ugh!

Beautiful!! Just got home from work and I bought that meter ( I forget what it is called that measures foot steps and miles) SO today I walked 12.39 MILES in that store. That is a lot of floor walking They are extremely busy because of the Memorial Weekend. Sat and Sun will be wild and more busy
They sold over $10,000.00 just in Strawberry's . Unbelievable !!!!

Hey there Klara. it is 9pm Saturdat I think. I have lost days and time LOL> Yes I will be in shape for sure. Just finish din din and going to watch so TV and probably fall a sleep. I am like you Klara if I fall a sleep in bed I am up wide a wake in 1 1/2 to 2 hours . I walked a little bit over 12 miles yesterday and 12 miles today.
Legs fell much better beings I am getting used to the job What a busy place that is especially this weekend when all the shoe bees come down for their vacation. That is what we call them here or weekend warriors. They clog up the stores and the road thinking this place belongs to them meaning the shore "lol:
Hope you get so sleep tonight. Walking does give me a ton of energy that is for sure. I might just walk to come see you Hi Mark, Good to hear you're exercising. It's always a good thing - to get paid to workout.
