I just want everyone to know that I have written two hubs that don't begin with "Buy" or end with "Online." One even has pictures in it. The other was personal. Dear God, can a poetry hub be far behind?
On Wednesday after the Obama speech, I ended up in the Political Forum - defending a Republican of all things.
...maybe I need an alter-ego. No I can face this mid-life crisis with my head up!
Hehehe I was in the same scenario last week hehehehe with different fire thread I made hehehehe but, I'm glad that was all over... I humbly accept my inaccuracies and rawness with the topic... get away from it by asking the HubPages Team to get rid off the topic and extinguished it hehehe.. and damage was controlled before it could flourish.
Goodluck Noelle hehehe I know you can pull through... hehehehe.
hahha - I will go check out your non 'buy online' hubs. I'm sure they are great!
On a side note, I have gotten entirely sick of the forums. I enjoy discussing things in a respectful, fact-based manner. It seems as though almost everyone around here has resorted to personalizing attacks and becoming truly rude and condescending. Not something I have the time for, nor the desire to participate in, anyways! lol
So.... I agree with you there!
I REALLY need to get writing hubs, I've been so busy writing/researching for work and a full-time class schedule. I need to do some light hearted ones but am so burnt out from work/classes that writing now feels like a chore. This summer, it was fun!
Yep - totally agree. There's very little I respond to these days, for that very reason. In fact, I don't even visit Hubpages much any more.
I don't help new people out with their questions much any more, because most them just too damn lazy to even do a search on the topic they want to know about. One even said that asking a question is easier than doing a search. Sheesh!
And others ignore the advice you give them, and then email you demanding that you help them fix the problems that they've got themselves into by ignoring what you've told them.
Thanks, Nelle. School is going great. I'm really enjoying the passive income from adsense and amazon every month, even though I haven't published for a while! The skeptic in me still thinks this is simply all too good to be true....hahaha
Mid-life crisis, eh? I turned 40 AND had a mid-life crisis when I was living in Miami. I found a sure-fire way to elevate my spirits throughout it -- and it didn't involve any poetry. It involved candy. Um, eye candy. Yup. Anytime I was feeling funky, I just got all Desperate Housewives and hired myself a new hot young gardener or poolboy. I never crossed the line or anything, but Good Lord, did they brighten my day!
Nelle, You would not be the first successful (monetarily speaking) hubber to discover her inner poetess on HP. It's nice to explore a new genre and HP is such a supportive community -- you'll be sure to get good, loving feedback. Go for it. Haiku. Limericks. Ditties. Free verse. Flash fiction -- it's all good and I firmly believes helps us to become better writers!
Then again, the pool boy/gardener idea sounds pretty good to me, also. Wish I'd thought of that when I was having my midlife crisis (I was an early bloomer and had it at 38).
Anyway, after today I'm out of the political forums. I really don't care about US politics but I have this desire to look for the truth and don't want to let people get away with generalizations that are usually not their own. It's hard to look the other way at times...
We need to start a separate one for the Religious Forum. I am admitting I have a problem, that my life has become unmanageable, and that I'm powerless. It's a first step, now I need my R.F.A. meeting (religious forums anonymous). Please help.
So, true. I keep telling myself: "Just one more post, Laura. That's all... just ONE more. Just like drinking, one more turns into 10. I don't even know who I am anymore. I look at myself in the mirror and I look aged, sick, hopeless. Then I say, okay, no I won't post I'll just read. READ THIS: I'll just go into the liquor store to see what the bottles look like. Yeah right. It's the old AA addage: "If you go into the barber shop enough times, eventually you're gonna get a hair cut." I'm practically bald.
Sound good, lets start as many "good news" threads as we can
I am not looking forward to the new Dan Brown that much. I read DaVinci Code and it was okay but not earth shattering, a nice mystery story. I'm looking more forward to George Carlin's autobiography to be published in November.
I don't know maybe happy is the wrong word. Interesting and engaging topics that don't end up being mean spirited might be a better description. Although it does seem that some people just enjoy a good fight and won't settle for less.
Nelle, they're happy when they're fighting, I think. I have to admit that although I'm not a fan of a lot of the same old fights, once in a while there will be a really wacky one (in which I won't participate because they're usually between a couple of "main people") that I find really funny. Awhile back there was one that seemed to have everyone and his brother jumping in and having their own "mini-fights" within the "main fight" - and, I'm sorry to be a voyeur, but my sides were hurting I was laughing so hard. (and it was a really "mean" fight, so it wasn't supposed to be funny)
I know what you mean. I don't mind the fight topics. But it seems there are times around here when the fights invade all of the topics. Oh well. I just don't participate in those or spend much time reading them.
Some of them are so bad I wouldn't dare put my unsolicited two-cents in on them. Usually I don't read the ones that go on and on; but the "biggy" that had me laughing took me about 45 minutes to read! (45 minutes well spent. )
I log on every day, and it seems that I always find negative things popping up in the forums. I am sorry that so many people are struggling on HubPages. From SEO issues to having popular hubs unfeatured for a multitude of reasons, it seems very discouraging for any newcomers. When I first got here...
I feel concerned that the reason google may prefer ehow as opposed to hubpages, is because there is an abundance of poetry and short stories. I am not by any means saying that those who publish the short stories and poetry are not good, but they are not usually searchable or high market. I...
How well do poems and short stories do on HP?I noticed a while back somewhere that HP staff had mentioned that creative writing such as poems and short stories don't do as well as informational pieces. I'm curious to know about the earnings of some of the people who publish a lot of these. Do you...
I am still new to Hubpages and have been enjoying a rather successful start. Thank you to those who have voted my articles up and those few of you who have begun to follow me. But I have noticed one thing of late and maybe it is the way it goes but I think it is disrespectful. I have commented on a...
Hi--me again.. I was reading that there is a 'nofollow' generated on hubs with scores of 50 or under, so I've un-published all of mine that were down in that range. The result is that my total hub count is now way down, so that instead of 10 more hubs to 100, I've now got to...
I have had a few poems receive non-featured status. I've been able to revive them by adding a couple of text paragraphs to expound on the topic of the poem while maintaining the integrity of the poem. It lengthens the hub, extending its survival, and therefore, making it more searchable. I've also...
