I just want everyone to know that I have written two hubs that don't begin with "Buy" or end with "Online." One even has pictures in it. The other was personal. Dear God, can a poetry hub be far behind?

On Wednesday after the Obama speech, I ended up in the Political Forum - defending a Republican of all things.

...maybe I need an alter-ego. No I can face this mid-life crisis with my head up!

Hehehe I was in the same scenario last week hehehehe with different fire thread I made hehehehe but, I'm glad that was all over... I humbly accept my inaccuracies and rawness with the topic... get away from it by asking the HubPages Team to get rid off the topic and extinguished it hehehe.. and damage was controlled before it could flourish.

Goodluck Noelle hehehe I know you can pull through... hehehehe.

Nellie, I felt the same pride the day I managed to publish several hubs in a row that didn't have one shred of spurious crap, tomfoolery or utter claptrap in them.

hahha - I will go check out your non 'buy online' hubs. I'm sure they are great!

On a side note, I have gotten entirely sick of the forums. I enjoy discussing things in a respectful, fact-based manner. It seems as though almost everyone around here has resorted to personalizing attacks and becoming truly rude and condescending. Not something I have the time for, nor the desire to participate in, anyways! lol

So.... I agree with you there! big_smile

I REALLY need to get writing hubs, I've been so busy writing/researching for work and a full-time class schedule. I need to do some light hearted ones but am so burnt out from work/classes that writing now feels like a chore. sad This summer, it was fun!

      Yep - totally agree.
There's very little I respond to these days, for that very reason. In fact, I don't even visit Hubpages much any more.

I don't help new people out with their questions much any more, because most them just too damn lazy to even do a search on the topic they want to know about. One even said that asking a question is easier than doing a search. Sheesh!

And others ignore the advice you give them, and then email you demanding that you help them fix the problems that they've got themselves into by ignoring what you've told them.

      double sheesh!
      Cheers, Eric G.

Well then I'm glad I have your website bookmarked, in case you disappear, which I hope you don't.

I've read in a few other posts of people hearing of other people leaving because of what goes on in some of the forums.

If you enjoy writing, where do you go??

Well, I'm a member of a few forums where I provide advice to people, and have some fun with a bit of quick repartee - like I used to enjoy here.

I've also written a book for people who want to set up online businesses. Details in my profile.

And I'm a member of a private group, most of whose members became quite disillusioned with hubPages for various reasons.

Along with running a business, that's plenty of internet activity for me :-)

Mid-life crisis, eh? I turned 40 AND had a mid-life crisis when I was living in Miami. I found a sure-fire way to elevate my spirits throughout it -- and it didn't involve any poetry. It involved candy. Um, eye candy. Yup. Anytime I was feeling funky, I just got all Desperate Housewives and hired myself a new hot young gardener or poolboy. I never crossed the line or anything, but Good Lord, did they brighten my day! lol

  9. Mighty Mom profile image77

    Nelle,
You would not be the first successful (monetarily speaking) hubber to discover her inner poetess on HP. It's nice to explore a new genre and HP is such a supportive community -- you'll be sure to get good, loving feedback.
Go for it. Haiku. Limericks. Ditties. Free verse. Flash fiction -- it's all good and I firmly believes helps us to become better writers!

Then again, the pool boy/gardener idea sounds pretty good to me, also. Wish I'd thought of that when I was having my midlife crisis (I was an early bloomer and had it at 38).

    Good luck! MM

I don't know maybe happy is the wrong word. Interesting and engaging topics that don't end up being mean spirited might be a better description. Although it does seem that some people just enjoy a good fight and won't settle for less.

Nelle, they're happy when they're fighting, I think.   smile   I have to admit that although I'm not a fan of a lot of the same old fights, once in a while there will be a really wacky one (in which I won't participate because they're usually between a couple of "main people") that I find really funny.   Awhile back there was one that seemed to have everyone and his brother jumping in and having their own "mini-fights" within the "main fight" - and, I'm sorry to be a voyeur, but my sides were hurting I was laughing so hard.    lol   (and it was a really "mean" fight, so it wasn't supposed to be funny)

Some of them are so bad I wouldn't dare put my unsolicited two-cents in on them.  Usually I don't read the ones that go on and on; but the "biggy" that had me laughing took me about 45 minutes to read!   lol  (45 minutes well spent.  smile  )
