Can anyone tell me what recent changes Hub Pages have made that would change my traffic results?

Recently my page views dropped from an average of 800 a day to less than 200, can anyone explain why? For three to four months my traffic was steadily rising and topped off at about 5,000 a week and then BOOM, baby it just tanked and very quickly.

Now I'm lucky to get 200 a day and am seriously thinking of just creating my own blog as I have already gotten a decent reputation, so why should I continue to play by Hub Pages rules as they continue to get more and more conservative to the point of being ridiculous.

It is almost as if they are now being run by a bunch of middle-age housewives.

Mine tanked with most everybody else's on 9/27. I went from 700 a day to less than 400. It comes back in fits, but never for more than a day or so. HP keeps telling us to hang in there, so I'm hanging although its been a month and a half.

I quit looking at my numbers, because it became counter-productive. I did relocate my lowest performing Hubs to my personal blog and deleted others, but that didn't improve my numbers. I even updated others and added media and corrected a lot of photo attributions. Nothing helped so I have no advice, I'm sorry.

Just keep on keeping on, though. I've read some of your Hubs and I think you're a good writer. The numbers will come back. smile

somethgblue - I feel HP is a great place to start making an income online, however, if you want to make money for the long haul get your own domain. You get to keep 100% of the income and it's not expensive to set up your own domain or domains.
This way you'll have 100% control over the content, the layout, the ads you display and can monetize in far more ways than you can on HP.
I'm not saying HP is bad, but when you are left scratching your head wondering what is happening and never really getting to the bottom of the problem, it's probably time to find another solution.
On top of that, you can always continue to write for HP and direct relevant traffic to your site. At least this way you're building a business for the future and can continue to experiment and try and figure out what's working/not working on HP. Diversification etc.

Basically, like I've tried to mention before, get your own domain, try other free-hosted blogs in addition to that, enjoy the readership here, never put all of your eggs in one basket, and ride the waves of the SEO fluctuations, traffic, and money...

Yes, it is time no doubt, perhaps HP's served its purpose however I still am wondering why they would feel the need to decrease traffic . . . makes no sense?

Well, things would be more stable around here if most aspects of the site were left alone without a constant state of "tweaking" due to traffic-panic.  When you have too many chiefs involved, well, you get the picture...

Oh I get the picture all right but you have been pushing me in this direction for months so maybe I shouldn't fear change and go for it.

No matter what, I'd keep the Hubs you got here, and drive the extra traffic to them from your new sites...  Before you know it, you'll have a lot of pull and gravity towards your grammatical junk, sort of like that awesome polar shift & Nibiru st

There have been a lot of changes lately here at the hub pages, and they may have something to do with it. Here's a hub about some of the biggest changes - http://goody5.hubpages.com/hub/Google-vs-the-Hub-Pages
