If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be?

Gold Coast Australia.  It's really the lucky country by far. Currently live in the UK and the UK is tired up with so much "Red Tape". It makes me appreciate where I have lived.

Who told you that Australia doesn't do a red tape? I've lived in WA for 2 years and will be pleased to see the back of their crazy tax system adn the general hassel of having 5 levels of government (local, lower/upper house state, ditto federal).

It does however have some of the best weather in the world - but governance - nah its crap! I'm moving back to New Zealand for family reasons - but my business will stay domiciled there where-ever I end up because the tax system is simple - but I hope I won't be in NZ all year - climate is rubbish - unless this global warming thing really starts working !

A country that's got year round snow. Don't mind which.

Year round snow?  How intriguing....Is that cause you haven't seen snow for awhile?

I just love the stuff. Always have, always will. I don't see much of it now, if at all. My idea of a great holiday would be a round the world cruise.

But my ideal home would be in some snowy mountains smile

Have you ever spent 8+ hours in it, hip-deep, driving, walking, working in a non-recreational context?

frogdroppingposted 14 years agoin reply to this

Not for a long time. But I don't want to play in it, I'm not a child. And yes, I'm aware of the difficulties associated with living in such a cold place.

But what suits one doesn't suit another. You asked where hubbers would like to live for a year. So I said where I would like to live smile

Where would you like to live tksensei?

No offense, I just know how brutal and unforgiving the cold and snow can be. That said, winter is still my favorite time of year.

But to answer your question, straight to Kyoto for me.

I wasn't offended, no worries. And I know little about Kyoto. I'm assuming it's a great place to spend some time smile

                *off to check out Kyoto*

It'd have to be Oahu, Hawaii.

In fact any of the Polynesian islands would be great.

It's cold and wet in Scotland today so anywhere, that’s warm and dry, would be fantastic.

Marooned on a nice little island where it's nice and warm (not stinking hot) where the mosquitoes and other vermin are non-existent. With a crate full of books, a crate full of nice wines and the stick so I can stay connected to hubpages and the internet on my laptop. Ahhhhh pure bliss!!!!!
