Really quiet tonight. Everyone off watching TV or something I guess.

I mailed out my college application today. Thought it would be a load off my shoulders but it hit me as I handed it over that I could get rejected and a whole nother set of worries started up.

Ah thanks Dave! It's just kinda scary now that it is actually out of my hands. Giving it over to the powers that be though and just gonna wait and see.

So, looks like you are still having issues. Hopefully they are resolving themselves.

    Edit: Thanks Steven!

Issues are resolving themselves as issues tend to do.  I normally don't have any issues at all.  This is new for me.

So, um I'm kinda curious about something. If you are on a series of boats off the coast of Africa. How do you get home? Is it like in that movie Deep Blue Sea where they ferry you off and someone new comes to take your place?

    1. dave272727 profile image61
dave272727posted 15 years agoin reply to this

Actually that is not far off.
On Sunday there will be a crew boat arriving.  The other crew will be coming onboard and we will get on the crew boat.  It will take us to shore and we will head to the airport and begin to fly home.

  17. profile image0
    lynnechandlerposted 15 years ago

That is kinda cool. I'm glad you are coming home though it sounds like you are needing a break.

  18. dave272727 profile image61
    dave272727posted 15 years ago

I can't wait to get home.  Its been a very long trip.  There is usually 3 people in my department.  This trip there has been only 2.  So I have been getting less sleep than normal and have been not quite feeling myself.

  19. profile image0
    lynnechandlerposted 15 years ago

Ah yeah lack of sleep can throw you off kilter big time.

That is one of the things I am looking forward to when the daughter moves out this weekend is a more normal schedule. I am typically a night owl and so is she so I don't get much accomplished with both of us up. Plus we have been trying to spend a lot of time together since she is moving so far away.

  20. dave272727 profile image61
    dave272727posted 15 years ago

Yep.  I am looking forward to sleep when I get home.  Nothing but rest and relaxation.
How far away is she moving?

  21. profile image0
    lynnechandlerposted 15 years ago

All the way to Mesa, AZ. It's going to be quite an adjustment as family has always been within easy reach for her. It will just be her and her man relying on each other out there.

  22. dave272727 profile image61
    dave272727posted 15 years ago

That is a long haul.  It could be very good for them.  Having to depend on each other.

  23. profile image0
    lynnechandlerposted 15 years ago

I think it will be. I normally would be trying to talk her out of it but this guy really seems to have his head screwed on straight. He got a really good job offer out there and then told her if she couldn't see moving he would pass it up.

    1. dave272727 profile image61
dave272727posted 15 years agoin reply to this

Sounds like he does have his priorities in order.

  24. profile image0
    lynnechandlerposted 15 years ago

Yep and treats her like gold so I can't complain.

They've been in SC all this week saying goodbye to his family. They come home tomorrow and will get the truck and start final packing on Friday to head out on Sat. They already have the apt lined up and should pull into Mesa bright and early Monday morning.

He has a week before he will start work out there, plus enough in savings to last them three months if something happened with the job which is not likely cause his new employer moved up the date for him to start by a week.

    1. dave272727 profile image61
dave272727posted 15 years agoin reply to this

That sounds very positive!  I hope that they have a blast out there and find everything that they hope to!

  25. profile image0
    lynnechandlerposted 15 years ago

yeah me too! It's gonna be lonesome without her but my parents I believe are taking care of that one, lol.

Mom got a free flight to Biluxi plus room for two nights and dad doesn't want to go with her so that will be taking place in late Feb. Never been on a plane before so little nervous about that trip.

Then when we get back dad is starting renovations on my house, lol New screened in back porch addition. Hopefully, it won't take the guy too long on that one. But I'm loving the idea.

Then if I get accepted to school for fall semester the rest of the summer will be in prep for that.

    Flying is easy...
Watch the movie, sleep, or read.  I have very long flights so I usually do all three.
I would love to have a screened in porch.
I am doing school right now.  Online classes.  It is what you make of it I guess.

I am surrounded by woods and my backyard is a natural path for the deer to take to the creek and pond so the back porch is going to be a great addition. I have french doors that lead out to the deck now and they aren't protected from the weather so there is a bit of rot going on around them after 10 yrs exposure.

Man I can't believe I've been in one place that long. Wow! Ok, well anyways I'm excited. We walked out the other night to find a herd just kinda hanging around the apple trees. It was so cool. Then there is my resident squirrel's and the opossum. His name is Henry and he is getting fatter by the day. I prob shouldn't feed him but I don't know I kinda like him.

We have coyotes too that come up pretty close to the house to get to the water in the pond.

Then of course there are the things I really hate, snakes and spiders.

  28. dave272727 profile image61
    dave272727posted 15 years ago

Yep, we have a family of rabbits that live in the woods behind the house.  My cat is an indoor cat and sits at the window and watches them.  He wants to catch one, but I don't know if he knows what to do with it.

  29. profile image0
    lynnechandlerposted 15 years ago

Oh wow hadn't thought about the cat. She is gonna love the porch.

Who takes care of your kitty while you are gone?

I get the dubious honor of taking care of mom and dad's two cats and their chocolate lab when they are away.

    dave272727posted 15 years ago

My wife usually keeps the cat, due to the holidays he had to go over to my parents house.

  32. dave272727 profile image61
    dave272727posted 15 years ago

I got married in July.  It's still new and yes that is reason one why I want to be at home.  Its time to stop running all over the world and to grow up.  Also I think I will have more time to write at home!

    lynnechandlerposted 15 years ago

Aw you guys are still newlyweds that is so sweet but sad too. Yeah you need to be at home. And you are prob right you will have more time to write and see where that takes you.

    Who's ordering tonight??  big_smile

  36. dave272727 profile image61
    dave272727posted 15 years ago

Beth put me down for all the above!!!

I am progressing with the writing.  Took third in a contest over on Zombie Nation.  So that was a surprise.  I just think I would have more time to search for agents and publishers.

  37. profile image0
    lynnechandlerposted 15 years ago

Prob so. You might want to check out Red Rose Publishing, Virtual Tales or Samhain Publishing. Virtual Tales will be a tough sale without cleaning up the work first, not sure about the other two. Red Rose I think does more romance but samhain has a variety.

And congrats on taking third that is awesome.

  38. dave272727 profile image61
    dave272727posted 15 years ago

Thanks Lynne!  I will take a look into those publishers.  I have 4 short stories coming out in anthologies with Library of the Living Dead Press, but they pay 1 penny a word and contributor copy.
I haven't begun the editing process on the zombie book.  I want to get it finished and then clean it up and tighten some of the wording.
I entered the contest on the last day of submissions.  I entered two stories and one was selected for the final ten.  I went in there this morning and found out I took third.  I am still excited about it.  Both the second place guy and myself write for Library of the Living dead on their site, so the site owner is ecstatic about the additional traffic.

Hey you are quite welcome. I got a really great rejection from Samhain. Few things that I needed to clean up etc on Blood Rose.

That is great too about the additional views for a site.

The fiction is one thing I want to get back to once things settle here.
