oh i see. i'm sorry to hear that. maybe you can include people you know in real life that might have breast cancer too for your story. do you know anyone you can ask?
the only person i know is my mom ... she dont have breast cancer but we had a scare some years ago ... it will still work with or without the stories but its just more touching with the stories
anyway, i hate to cut this short, but i gtg now. i have to get up early for work. you take care pinky.
Mornin' everyone.
@Pinky - I'm not sure what you are looking for for input for the breast cancer article, but have you considered posting a "question" rather than a forum post? People can respond directly, or post their own hub as an answer. If you have success with the direct answers, you could use them, and if you have sucess with the hubs as answers, you could link to them in your own hub. What are you looking for?
Also, are you still hunting for ideas? I actually came up with something I wanted to do a month ago, and didn't have time... I posted it on the forums thinking someone else might be able to pick it up. Let me go find it, and I'll post here.
@Pinky - Here is it. I don't know if Kirsten picked it up or not, but in my mind, more exposure is always good for an important topic. I think its got real potential as a hub topic, and its very important to our world's health right now... I didn't feel I could do it justice as I don't have a lot of time to research, but I posted in hopes that someone else might be able to help get the word out. Its about MRSA infections and prevention.
http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/32031#post686659
Whew! Finally posted the hub I've been working on for a month. (Just haven't had time.) Its an experiment for me. I decided to try out a fashion hub, but look for items that I could afford (which isn't much. lol.) to mimic the styles. I want to do a part 2 with a few other trends, but who knows when I'll get that out. Since I'm not usually much of a clothes hound, it was definitely a departure for me... and involved a lot of research. It was fun though to do something that is outside my comfort zone. After all, I do believe that writing is a lot about personal growth, and you can't grow if you don't challenge yourself I suppose.
Well, I'll toss on another log and maybe some of you night owls will pop in later..
TS, I'll try and get over to your hub today. Thanks for keeping the fire going.
Lynne - No problem... I'm usually around by myself in the early mornings. The least I can do is toss on the occasional log.
Thanks for reading... let me know what you think. Since I want to do a part 2, I'll be interested in feedback. I thought about waiting and posting them together, but I've had so little free time lately that I figured if one was done, I better just publish. Like I said, I'm having fun with it, but it is different for me, so I think I'll do the part 2, and then vacation from fashion for a while and pick something a little more familiar.
You did a great job. We went out the other day starting the search for something to wear to a casual evening wedding this coming summer. I will prob make something as the fabrics and textures I found did not suite my tastes at all. My mom tried to talk me into a suite and yeah um that just isn't me.
Thanks. And, thanks for the comment too. Good luck with the wedding shopping. I'm always at a loss for those myself. I've tried and tried to find a sundress I like for those occasions, but no luck. I keep buying them and then hating them once I get them home. Then its back to the store again...
I think that is what I will be shooting for in this case. It's an outdoor evening wedding provided the weather doesn't turn foul. It is so unpredictable here in June. Any how, I don't do heat well so want something cool and comfortable with some little healed flip flops. Not asking too much, right?
Sounds perfect to me. I'm always cold though, so I'd have to have a wrap of some sort to go with those little heeled flip flops.
Hmmm. I was going to post some virtual flip flops for you, but I'm having trouble posting an image for some reason...
Yeah I haven't even started thinking about the shoes really cause I am an outfit first kind of gal. But I like these that I found at Penney's that have rhinestones on the strap and come in black, gold, or silver.
Don't know... most people around here are talking Olympics. But, I haven't gotten much chance to watch. Saw a little snowboarding the other night just because it was on and I was apparently in the mood to fall asleep on the couch half on top of the pile of laundry I was supposed to be folding.
Gotta go hit the caf at work and grab lunch for real before they close... I'll try to come back once I get food. Maybe I'll have thought of a topic by then.
Alright, topic of the day for Mega's discussion group:
Black Jelly Beans. Tasty or not?
Discuss.
Olympics - all of it awesome - riveting and I missed Plychenco(russian figure skater) tried to record it, ran out of time in midperformance so missed it! argggh - also snowboarding in tube -women - so very awesome
black jelly beans YESH! so very tasty, favorite flavor! wantsomenow!
new topic: upcoming vacation in SF - recommend places to eat?
Oops... sorry... Lynne, you'll have to share with Mega. I didn't see this one before.
Don't know much about SF. But, I can weigh in on the jelly beans.
Black = ick
Not my thing... Lynne, you can have all mine too.
Gotta run and pick up the kids... dropping them off at MILs for a VERY rare date nite for the hubby and I. :
Take care all you Tribers.
TS I missed you but have a really nice nite with the hubby.
I LOVE black jelly beans
Hi everyone! How are you all?
I finally got another Hub out today, yay!
Hi GS! I saw that and commented and rated. Hope you are having a great day.
@pinky you may just have to go with what ya got dear it may be too personal for people to respond.
Sorry to have missed you lynne...thanks for the warm wishes...Got booted as SOON as I said hello and have just been able to make it back.
Hehe...been booted in and out all night myself but I'm still here.
Posting in the natural remedies thread. Looking for help.
Help in the natural remedies thread you mean?
I see your post. I don't know about the thyroid remedies right off the bat...I'll have to grab my encyclopedia and look for something for you. Is it called hypoactive thyroid?
Hypothyroidism is what I have. Actually, my thyroid is totally dysfunctional with a small goiter on the right side. So, I know I have to be on something and since I quit taking the other med to try and clear up the one prob now I'm in this funk of depression that is way unlike me. I haven't quit crying for two days now.
Oh yuck! {{{HUGS}}} Are you sure you shouldn't be at the ER?? I hope you feel better...I'm looking for something for you.
Thanks, and no the ER wouldn't do anything but refer me to the psych ward,
God seriously? The first thing the DSM tells mental health providers to do with psych symptoms is to rule out organic/biological causes for them!! I hope you will be okay. I am worried about you.
I'm ok, I have dealt with this before just never to such a degree with the depression. I'm still working on writing and other stuff I have going on here but stupid stuff just sets off the crying jags, lol.
I think the best thing to do is start the herbal treatment I had before and then see about ordering this new one that I found. It has better ingredients from what I can tell as far as what a person with my condition needs.
One of the main things is a healthy dose of iodine. Typically your thyroid produces this from the intake of your foods but I have recently switched back to a diet that doesn't have a lot of iodine in it. I'm actually trying to wean myself off processed foods again. Go more organic and all that jazz. But it takes a bit of adjusting and prob should have started back up with the herbal when I quit taking the prescribed synthetic pill a month ago but I wanted the synthetic one out of my system first.
hey lynne- read your posts - sorry to hear about how you're feeling and the thyroid prob. I have to say a medical dr. should be consulted - I have read that the thyroid seriously contributes to depression, especially for women, and that it is simple to take a pill for it, but sounds like you stopped taking them. It is very hard to solve this problem with diet & exercise alone, need the hormones to be replaced since your thyroid isn't making them. right? Also the timing for you is bad since you were feeling sad anyway after your daughter left! can't you go see a Dr.?
My mom used to add iodine, the liquid stuff, right to her water, every day to supplement as that was what was wrong with her.
At $125 a pop for a 15 min chat and then 85 for the blood work she would want to perform without benefit of insurance I really can't afford to see her right now. I had to come off the prescription to set the constipation issue right and clear up another issue it was causing. All she will do is tell me to stay on the prescription and take a laxative which I was having to take three times a day to combat the side effect of the prescription which then leaves me indisposed for untold amounts of time. It is just a never ending cycle and I would really like to get back on something that is natural as opposed to synthetic so gonna try my herbs again and see how I feel over the course of the next few days.
The one I was taking before is a supplement and contains Irish moss plant,Kelp plant, Black walnut hulls, Parsley herb, Fo-ti Root and Sarsaparilla root
The other is a multi-vitamin with extra iodine and b-12
I found a new one tonight that I am going to order since I don't have much of this one left. Its ingredients are at this site
http://www.healthychoicenaturals.com/t- … ients.aspx
there ya go with the food again, lol and here it is time almost for me to hit the hay
Its ok only sticking around to see if anyone pops in here late.
Faybe I had to read that like three times to understand it. Now I know I'm gonna have to call it quits soon

This is likely A LOT to "ask" but if you have a few minutes please take a look. I've been having fun here on Hubpages for nineteen months and have recently decided to take the productivity level more seriously. I've started designing my own website and intend to start writing more and...

I've just received word that I've qualified to receive some "assured long-term" benefits for disability - on an application process that took over 2 years and many individuals/professionals as advocates' assistance. This means that I can evade the constant worry of homelessness, so long...

I have two hubs up so far. I am not entirely sure what a great ranking would be considering that they are quite new, but they are both above 60. Is this pretty good for newly established hubs? I would appreciate any feedback on my work and what can be done to improve for the future, as well as...

Wrote a new hub this afternoon, just for fun. It is topical, relating to a new news item today. Would someone like to read it in it's entirety and comment, please? Pretty please? I don't usually do 'satire' if that is what it could be described as, should I leave it as it is, or go a bit further...
