I'd like some help with passing the Quality Assessment Process. Will you please give feedback on my article What Are Superfoods?. What can I do to improve? Thanks!
Oh by the way...My Hub was featured until I received two emails from "moderators" with suggestions on how to improve the Hub. They told me it could be "showcased" on topic pages if I would just make a couple of "improvements". Now mind you, the Hub was ALREADY featured. But I decided to make the recommended changes and guess what. Now the Hub is no longer featured at all. Thanks to you moderators for screwing with something that had no issues. Now I have to figure out how to fix your suggestions so my Hub will once more be featured. What a mess. Not happy with Hubpages moderators at all.
These are my suggestions:
Your first link goes to hubpages.com. There's no point in it, so delete it.
Your article is a factual one, so no need for exclamation points at all.
Don't overdo the underlining and bold text.
The next link goes to another hubber's list of superfoods. Why would you direct your readers to another list? Personally, I would delete all your links. You want your reader to stay on your page.
Be careful with the acai berries; they are considered to be a spammy topic.
Your long list should be broken up into shorter capsules. You could use one for fruit, another for veg, etc. That will give you the opportunity to add some legal-to-use photos in between.
As you are making many health claims for these foods, you should include some references to supporting studies at the end of the article.
Hope that helps.
I think it's a winner. Google likes long articles and it's a great topic.
I would make the paragraphs smaller in the last two, people don't like to read large blocks of text (something I do all the time, and am working on fixing)!
As someone else suggested, put in a few pictures of the foods to add some color, again, it helps lazier readers.
Links are always a problem, even though hubbers and administration say they aren't. I would take them out, and you don't want to take readers away from YOUR own article anyway.
Besides all of the suggestions from theraggededge, you also need to make yourself familiar with HPs new Amazon requirements. That capsule at the bottom must be deleted or have a personal recommendation attached to it.
Your article is a wealth of nutritional knowledge. However, I agree with the previous comment about underlining and bold text. From my experience, HubPages does not like lots of bold text. (I've learned that the hard way.)
Thank you for the suggestions Gregory. I have already eliminated some of the exclamations (I thought some of the benefits were pretty exciting and thus...) and I am working on processing through everyone's suggestions. This is a great source of information.
Your article contains so much information! I'm very impressed by all the research that you must have done to create it. The fact that you've made so many health claims about the foods might be a problem, though. As theraggededge says, you need to support the claims with references, but that would create a huge list of sources.
You could try adding references for what you consider to be the most important points first of all (as well as following the other suggestions that people have given you). If that doesn't get the article featured, you could try splitting it into two (or more) shorter articles, each with their own list of more specific references. Good luck.
Your article is filled with valuable information. I wish I could have seen it before you changed it.
Here are my notes:
Take out any bold, capitalized words, exclamation points.
Create text capsules for each fruit and vegetable and title the text capsules respectively. Take out the bold names for each superfood.
Add some photos of the unfamiliar ones like Prickly Pear Catus or Irish Moss. And place them near their capsule.
You have two articles. I would make an article defining superfoods What is Superfoods? and another 50 (whatever the number is) Superfoods for Optimum Health with an intro and an outtro.
I hope that helps.
I like it. I will probably take your suggestions and run with them. Actually I am having fun with this once I got over being irritated with the mods for messing up my article. I realized I could/should make more capsules for the vast amount of information but figuring out how to accomplish those changes is daunting. Thank you.
When marven came on strem, I began to experienced issues like yours.
A featured hub, you were told need improvement and that is very slight. You carry out the simple task, hit "done editing" button and, it becomes unpublished overnight.
I think the new edirors on HubPages are up to something not known to many hubbers?
Worst still hubscores are getting reduced weekly if not daily!
Yes, that is exactly what happened. If I had not acted on the "suggested edits", I wouldn't be currently revising this Hub, which has been collecting views (and steadily earning) for years with no problem. It's frustrating. Hubpages changed its payment structure several years ago, reducing the earnings. Now it's causing a shakeup with these edit suggestions which remove formerly good Hubs from view unless changes are made. I think the site must be seeing declines in readership and they are attempting to get people to make changes so Google will raise some rankings and readers will return.
Yes, Google panda like long text instead of pictures. Even, short summaries make some readers very lazy.
I am wondering whether their take they comprehensive lessons while at school.
Hi Laceylinks, I like and welcome your suggestions. I reasoned that most of the changes currently going on are by Marven, which has acquired HubPages. Don't you think so?
