I received an email invitation to do a news interview from a TV reporter in MO who found my articles and thought it was cool that I share what I do. I’m not local to the station so it probably won’t come to fruition but it was flattering nonetheless. Just thought I’d share.
A big thanks to HP for giving me the place to do this. It’s created some awesome opportunities for me. I had an awesome June and couldn’t have done it without you and the people here who helped me from the beginning.
Happy 4th everybody!
Congratulations! That's a really neat offer!
That's awesome Dan! Congrats! You are doing a great job, I'm not surprised that you are getting noticed.
Happy 4th to you too!
Congratulations, Dan! The recognition you are getting is well deserved!
Well that is indeed very cool–congrats! It's neat to share it here so others can see possibilities. Keep us updated.
And Happy 4th of July to you, as well!
Thank you. I did have that in mind when I posted this. I’m not a bragger (though I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t proud of being recognized) but I do want people, new people particularly, to see the possibilities HP can present. It has truly had an impact on my life and offered me opportunities I would’ve never had otherwise. I know how it sounds but that’s because that’s how it is. (Not a scratch off ticket of course...writers have to do their part too...for any new Hubbers reading this)
That is wonderful news! Enjoy the spot light! A bit of advise from a PR, prepare yourself for the interview. Think of thinks you want to share and things you don't want to share. So, after the interview you know you shared everything you wanted to say. Take your time in answering their questions. You can pause to think out your answers.
I appreciate that advice. I will definitely keep it in mind if anything does come of it but I don’t think it will. It’s a local news channel out there and I think she was hoping I was too. I’ll definitely keep everyone posted if it does.
Thanks buddy! Not exactly a book deal but hey if they wanna give this ugly mug some screen time I’ll happily oblige. Maybe the camera will add a few pounds to these chicken legs.
I've had a great June myself, Dan. Everything is good...
That’s absolutely great news Dan! This is a wonderful year for you. First, your acceptance to Maven, and now, this recognition by a TV news reporter. Your success is definitely well deserved.
Thanks Glen but I’m not a Maven. Not anymore than most of us here anyway. It has been a great year however and I’m grateful for the opportunities HP has brought my way. The chance to meet you and so many others in Windsor, this small yet flattering bit of recognition, and my best year ever for traffic. (...and maybe down the road be a Maven) I have a lot to be grateful for.
Wow, that’s surprising. I thought you were a Maven when they created that video of you under Featured Mavens. Knowing your expertise, it was believable. What happened?

I can't get the link to work. I did the video and they said they'd let me know when they edited it and all but I never heard anything after that.
I wonder why the link doesn’t work for you. I just tested it again and it works. I see the video and my congrats message at the bottom that I left on June 7th when I read the announcement.
This is the first I’m hearing about an issue with some people being unable to see Maven pages.
I see the same thing. Maven works just fine for me. The only thing I noticed was some of the url's have changed for some of their "channels".
Congrats! It's a great accomplishment to get noticed. Hope you continue to have great success.
Got it! Thanks Glen! I’d have never known that was up if you hadn’t said.
So what does it mean? It seems to imply that you have a Maven Channel now, and no one corrected me when I congratulated you a month ago. Sorry to hear it was misleading. In my opinion, you deserve a channel for your air conditioning HVAC niche.
Congratulations, Dan! The recognition is very exciting, even if it doesn't lead to an interview. Happy 4th of July to you.
Congratulations! It would feel wonderful to get an offer like that.
Super! Congrats! Pehaps, even if they don't interview you themselves, they may belong to a network of "small local stations," and make a referral to one near you.
(Hope springs eternal.)
@ Glen
Something very odd is happening - when I click on any of the featured author pages on Maven, the page shows for a few seconds and then goes completely blank.
I'm in UK, could Maven have put a block on some pages to prevent EU readers accessing them (because of new EU data protection laws)? This will affect our earnings if rolled out across the whole of HP.
@Glen and Cre8tor
I've solved the problem - it was a browser issue.
Internet Explorer kept blanking out Maven featured authors, but I have now tried with Chrome and I can access all the pages easily.
Update: It doesn't seem this is going to happen as they were hoping I was local which is what I thought may be the case but it does go to show the possibilities that can stem from HP. Oh, and by posting this I also found out that good editing can make anyone look halfway decent on camera!!! LOL
Thanks everyone for the well wishes however. I really appreciate them!

I'm psyched! I don't want to say which hub it was, but it was about the southern lifestyle.

Just realised I hit the 2,000,000 viewings on my hubs some time between New Year's Eve and the early hours of New Year's Day (here in Britain). Really delighted as it has only been about 10 months since I hit 1,000,000.

Thanks to AuNews for being my 786th fan. Thanks to all my other 785 fans for being so supportive for the past one year. PS: 786 is a lucky number according to some Islamic traditions.

Just want to share my happiness when I received today my first payout in the HP ad program. My Google Adsense earnings lag way far behind HP ad program. I don't expect to get my earnings in adsense at all. I'm motivated to write more hubs if only I have more time to do so. Thanks Hubpages.
