My earnings are still half of what they were last month despite having written more articles
If it helps, remember that articles take time to gain steam; hopefully you'll soon see the fruits of your labors.
My earnings have been lower this month, but the past two days (October 19th and 20th) were a bit of a recovery.
Mine had recovered, but took a huge hit today. Blue arrows everywhere.
It is still down about 30-40% but has levelled out at that.
Mine has been relatively steady today. Let's hop it stays that way.
No, still falling, probably because of another update on Tuesday 16th. An article I wrote a month ago has jumped onto the first page in SERPs so I'm hoping that will make up for some of the lost traffic.
Mine has kind of stabilized at the new level for the past week or so. Slight increase on one of the days but it dropped the next day.
Didn't know there was yet another update. When do you think Google will stabilize? I'm pretty good still on weekends but have dropped about 1000 or more views per day during the week.
Google is not going to stabilize, they have to keep things stirred up to survive.
It has dropped around half of what it used to be. While my hubs on the niche sites have taken a hit as well, remaining hubs on Hubpages have been performing worse in the last 1 - 2 months or so. I should have moved more hubs to the niche sites when I had the chance, but I got comfortable and lazy. Never too late to start improving upon my work, I guess.
Anyways, are most/all of your hubs on the network sites?
Every single one of them on my main site and all but about 4 on my second site. I checked current views against those from last year at this time and this year's are better...not as good as they've been since March, but still better than last year. However, I have more hubs and have done a better job of editing and/or deleting.
No recovery, still in the neighborhood of about half what I used to get.
Except, again, I checked what I was making this time of the month last year and it's comparable to what I'm making now and then I checked what I was making last year in August and it was a lot more than what I'm making this month; so, in other words, to me, in my case, it seems like the regular natural ebb and flow, fluctuations.Of course, I realize it seems some niche sites were hit. I get it.
I guess this is the new normal for now. It looks like earnings will be down about 30% from what they have been the past couple of months. However, those months were very good. I guess we have to take the lows with the highs.
@ Erudite Scholar.
I think you'll find the surge is not from search engine traffic. It is from other hubbers clicking through on all the links you have been spamming the forums with. You will not earn anything from this kind of traffic.
Mine has plummeted compared to what it was for the past year! Crazy almost. Still better than what it was when I was first starting (I mean, I'm way over the threshold for payment), but I was earning about 3x what I'm currently sitting at mid-month.
Ah well! Can't really complain much- it could be worse!
My traffic had recovered for a few days. Today my traffic is down 20% from earlier in the week and I have 6 articles with blue down arrows. Waiting to see what Sunday brings. Sunday is always my best day for traffic and earnings.
Mine is pretty good. I have shared a few items on Facebook lately, and found out something about that. I am not very active on FB and do not have a lot of "friends" there, but I shared a few things that apply to a certain subject on a site that has lotsandlots of members, and got a pretty good boost in views.
Oops, big slide today Hopefully will do its usual Sunday/Monday recovery.
Traffic seems fine, tho the earnings have taken a trip down the poop chute.
That said, last month's earnings (September) were unusually successful by my meager standards (I missed hitting the magic $50-payout-in-just-one-month mark by thiiiiiiis much!) and now they've returned to what has been, for the most part, my "normal" daily levels. I had a feeling that would happen eventually so I just enjoyed the ride while it lasted. (sigh)
I've never seen a drop in traffic to this degree before. Maybe some remedial action to sort out the traffic drop is taking place on site?
I've heard other people report that Googleanalytics is playing up today. Fingers crossed it's that!
My Hub tomato fruit or vegetable (Owlcation) is on 0 views in the past 24 hours. It's one of my best-written hubs, but always averaged 15 a day until the day before yesterday. It actually saw a boost in traffic to around 25 or so some days from images.google.com, but that's gone too. Dengarden is still hanging in there at a 30% loss give or take a bit.
Many of my Owlcation articles have very few hits or even zero with blue arrows yet I'm still in first-page Google placement with some of them ... makes no sense. I think at this point I'm getting the WHATEVER attitude
Interesting. I will just wait for the new norm or for a recovery.
Hi ziyena, I hadn't paid much attention to this niche site traffic until you mentioned it. I have one article on Owlcation and it's never done well. I thought it was because it's still fairly new (7 weeks, 292 views) and does not have ads due to the topic/content (suicide) which is unfortunately makes it banned from Google monetization.
I just checked the article stats and it has virtually no organic traffic, only HP, a few fb and "other," which is from sending the link to colleagues. Now I'm thinking like you, that there's something up with Owlcation site.
Edit: I had also planned to change the title during my next round of updates in about a month to see if that might be a problem, too.
October is the worst month I have had in the last year. So no, no recovery in sight.
Interestingly two new articles I wrote and were now where to be seen in the first 10 pages or so of SERPs are now on the first page with traffic rising.
I wonder is Google penalizing oldish articles?

I just compared my Monday, Jan 28th to my Monday, Feb 4th. Mine is better.

Why is it happening? All my hard work down the drain.

By "the plunge", I mean specifically mean suddenly losing over 80% of traffic during the period from the 10th August* up until the present (technically speaking, it's the google traffic that goes, of course, incoming traffic from links is unaffected).By "recovered" I mean...

It looks like my traffic has bounced back to where it should be. I also cranked out a lot of articles (for me, at least) after the new algorithm change as my way of dealing with it, but it looks like in spite of the incoming traffic to those new hubs, I'm still up. I was just curious what other...

Has you traffic bounced back? After the Sept' 2012 crash, is your traffic back?

When Panda hit I was a newbie so was not affected directly. Buy When the Penguin swooped down on us I was badly affected. I though those hubs that were doing great would never fully recover. The hubs I saw taking off and earning me money were new hubs. My best performers pre-penguin were...
