There must be others like me who are happy with HubPages right now? Having fun with their writing? Pleased with their earnings? Enthused for the New Year and all the new ideas to come?
The steps HP has taken to keep the platform afloat and then to continue to raise the standards so that we benefit from higher ad revenue are nothing short of miraculous.
Raising a glass to staff and hubbers - because it's my birthday
Happy Birthday! After years of discontent, I am now a happy hubber. Traffic is waaaay up and I'm making money. Not a lot, but better than the pennies per day that I earned for years. I'm definitely feeling motivated to write regularly. Thanks HP and keep up the good work!
This is such a nice post, @theraggededge. It makes me so happy to know that people are enjoying the platform. What are you guys looking forward to in the new year? Any writing-related goals in mind? Are there specific community activities/platform features you'd like to see? I want to know!
I look forward to 2019 and seeing more of the same great content from everyone. :~)
I think those of us who aren't close to ten million views, but are significantly past 1 million might like to see our little decals upgraded to display the levels of success. Then again, it might be smart to not let it be so known.
Hi @samanthacubbison
I am glad that my earnings are steadily increasing. I finally reached the 50 Featured hub milestone and I am proud of it. The platform has certainly improved in terms of the quality of articles on the site, ease of use and aesthetics(my profile looks damn good now!)
I am hoping to increase my hubs and earnings.
Feature I would like to see:
I am looking forward for improved recipe capsules. The ingredients capsule should cater for multi-recipe articles. Currently users have to use text capsules which are not friendly for recipes
Many more happy returns of the day theraggededge. I am a happy hubber now after publishing fifteen articles in three months. All the articles are featured and the latest three are already in niche sites. This active phase comes after four years of hybernation since I was migrated from Squidoo. Writing in HubPages is lot more fun and enjoyable. I had some timely guidance from seniors (I did not even know about submission to a niche site) to learn the basics. The editorial team was sweet enough to move three of my recent articles to niche sites on their own after some editing. HubPro Basic services were very useful for a newbie like me. I will continue to share things that I love in 2019. Happy New Year to all.
Happy Birthday! You're a wonderful asset to HP and no doubt are one of the reasons people do so well here. I totally agree with your views on HP and have always felt it was a great place for learning, writing and meeting great people. I'd like to add, here, that I believe the Google glitch may be well on the way to being fixed as my views have suddenly risen the past two days!! As for income, mine have doubled this past year which has pushed me into the four figure range. You'll get there too..I know this is one of your goals. Just keep at it and next year will be even better.
Best wishes for a wonderful new year.
I hope you had a super birthday Bev, and a New Year that shines as brightly as you!
I'm still earning pennies, but some more of them than before. I think that's because I made HP a lower priority due to discouragement. Not entirely unhappy, but haven't felt so motivated to publish a hub the past couple of months. In November I focused on participating in NaNoWriMo and this month the holidays have taken over...but in January, I'll rededicate some time to publishing more hubs...hopefully that'll help my earnings. ~:0)
Happy Birthday, Bev!
Bev, you deserve all the rewards you're reaping, no doubt about it. Hope you had a great birthday and a wonderful Xmas season.
Personally I'm pushing on with more articles in 2019, one a week minimum. Last year was my best ever with regards to views, earnings and positive feedback from readers. At present I'm touching on 6.5 million views and hope to reach 10m this coming summer. So, thanks to HP staff for their hard work over the past 12 months. Onward and upward.
@chef Congrats on achieving such a huge milestone. I also hope to write more articles this year and gain more readers.
I did, it was really nice. We lost my step-dad earlier in the year--he was a lovely man--but somehow it has brought my mother, my sister and myself closer together. We are like the three Macbeth witches now
Would love to have 6.5 million views... My next big marker is 4 million.
So best wishes to us all. May we be creative and productive so that 2019 is the best year yet.
I didn't think I'd beat last month, but today shows I've made more this month than ever before, and there are yet a couple days left in the month.
I couldn't be happier with the joint.
Happy Birthday! I didn't need an excuse, but I may as well dedicate my next one to your health and happiness.
Well, it is not my birthday, Bev, but I am on vacation for the first time in 10 years. My HP earnings have a lot to do with it, so I too am a happy hubber and have a hard time understanding those other very negative threads.
Thanks, HP, my dogs and livestock appreciate your support and all of the hard work that comes out of your HQ in California.
Happy birthday, Bev. Your helpfulness to writers on the forum astounds me. I'm so happy for your success. Thanks for sharing an upbeat vibe. Continued good fortune to you!
Happy belated birthday Bev (it's after 12 GMT now and I'm burning the midnight oil as usual )
Happy Birthday theraggededge... and I'm a happy hubber too. Just kicking back and enjoying the festive season...
Happy birthday Bev. Like my sister-in-law you fell into that unfortunate group that doesn't really get birthday gifts and Christmas gifts. I timed my birthday for early June and avoided that trap. To the substance of your message, I am happy to have the HubPages platform to write on; a place that values quality writing. Long may we have HP.
Agreed. Love this platform and constantly try and get fellow writers to join up.
Happy Birthday
I'm happy with HP. My pertinent numbers keep going up, too...pleasantly surprised each month. I could copy Wesman's first comment. December looks like another winner.
Happy Birthday Bev! Have fun! I’m not very active on forums. However, I do read every now and then. Every time a hubber has a question or query, I often see your answer help out in forums. You are a one of the most helpful hubbers on here. Helping others is something that comes naturally to you. For me, HubPages is the best place to be. The progress has been amazing. Well, there are ups and downs, but that’s what life is all about. I for sure am happy with what comes my way on this platform.
Happy Birthday! I'm pretty content right now. I think I finally found my niche with writing and have begun to move towards that. Each of my articles since then have been moved to niche sites and both traffic and earnings have been great for me! Still small, but growing steadily (Google glitch not being counted in that). Planning on writing lots more next year!
Thank you for the birthday wishes And some lovely extra gifts right there in your comments. Not that I was fishing for compliments
Yes, Rupe, it's the worst time for a birthday. My sister was born on the same day as me too, 11 years apart. We have a good moan about it every year.
TT2 - I got there!
Samantha, I am so looking forward to attacking 2019 - in a good way. And if everyone looks at their new hubs as another possible piece of the ever-growing jig-saw of network sites, we can continue to improve the quality and reputation of HP. I hope staff will do their bit by carrying on with the 'cleaning'.
Glad to hear that! Really feels good to be monetarily rewarded for the hard work we do! Congrats.
Happy Hubber here too - if I could get myself organised enough (and get more ideas) to produce more then I would be even happier. Even though I'm down from my best few months I still get a decent payout every month (for now anyway) so am encouraged to keep going!
Belated happy Birthday to you anyway!
Happy birthday. Thanks for your comments this year. I hope you have so many more happy hubber days.
Happy belated Birthday Bev ! You are among my critics and I love you for it. Happy New Year
Just trying to improve the quality of the site, ES
And, thank you. xx
Hahaha, I must admit that you sometimes come across as being harsh IRL.
Thanks so much. I knew this thread was lacking something.
@Bev You seem like a demanding perfectionist.
WTH?
What's with the personal attacks and name-calling? But, hey, if it makes you feel better, go ahead.
@Bev I was making a judgement, I was not being judgemental. There is a difference.
Really? You try being on the receiving end. I'm certain I have never called you names or made personal remarks about your character. And what is that IRL about... it means 'in real life'. You don't know me.
I have no idea why you thought it appropriate to bring this kind of remark into what was meant to be a pleasant and happy thread.

It has almost been one year ago that I started writing on Hubpages, and it has been almost a daily - at least weekly - event for me. Thanks for the challenges, education, friendship, and so much more. Wishing you many more years of growing, learning and earning!!

The World Wide Web was born on December 25, 1990, when Tim Berners-Lee made the first hypertext communication. He gave the WWW to the world for free. It's the gift that just keeps on giving and has connected the world.

I was sitting pretty at a 95 for a while. I really liked that number. Suddenly it jumped to 97.Call me crazy but I like that it went higher - kind of - sort of - but you see... Now I want to KEEP it.I'm kind of possessive that way. I see a bunch of people with 100 hubber...

Who thinks we should ask to reinstate a page dedicated to locating hubbers by hubber score. Beginning with 100-0.We once had such a page here that made the hubber score much more relevant, and we could at least get a chance to locate the top hubbers who most definitely deserved high praise for...
