What determines Hub Author score?

   My score recently went from 79 to 77.

      No one knows. It's a magical formula which includes quality of writing, number of hubs, activity, how many dogs you own, whether or not you support the care of rutabagas, all that sort of thing

            I once suffered a lot with this problem my scores dropped down to 42 from 80

         Bev, why is that? The 'dogs' is a bad inference to you, right? Don't you care?                                           I hate it that the women folks are dogs!                                                           As to the rutabagas, that's the product of Rupert, wherein he graduate with class.                                                      The Rutabagas is hardly in synergy with our storiess as long as Hubpages attach them to our articles. Hence the gradual nose diving.

         I often lie awake at night worrying about my hub author score, which is why I joined the campaign to help orphaned and lost rutabagas. The results have been amazing.

            I know. If I drop a point or two, I'm devastated. I find that a couple of glasses of red have a miraculous effect. Both on my mood and my score.
            
            Have to admit I saw some orphaned rutabagas (or swedes, as we call them) in the supermarket yesterday and I walked right on past them, poor things. I'm feeling very guilty today.

      Like most I don't really pay attention to it. My Hubber score use to be in the low 90's and has faded to 78 over a few years. However I have not been active even writing articles over that time. I think the biggest factor is HubScore average. I noticed HubScores fluctuate and as they do HubberScore does. At Hub Scores and How to Improve Them is the HubPages Learning Center article that at the end explains HubberScore. Yet it may be outdated somewhat.

      Yesterday she was having 77 scores and now she reached 80
      
      She was having 79 scores which dropped down to 77 , now she achieved more than what she was having before
      
      It is not fair with the rest of us

   @theraggededge Hahaha! I am laughing hard at you mentioning, "the dogs you own and whether or not you support the care of rutabagas." But seriously, you are right, @schoolgirlforreal. I am also wondering. My score got stuck at 80 for how many days now. Even when I am away just for a couple of days, it's the same. It also climbs up ever so slowly. From 77 to 81 down to 80 again.

   It is also a mystery to me. It is the same with the articles. My articles that get many views get score very low and those that don't get traffic score high.

   Okay. Here it is again.
   
   To get your Hubscore you start with your shoe size, which is multiplied by the last two digits of your phone number. Then, the circumference of a rutabaga in centimetres (at its thickest point) is added.
   
   The tricky bit is when HubPages introduces “X”; this is a formula locked in a vault next to the recipe for the Colonel’s 11 herbs and spices. However, a mole called Fluffy broke into the vault and found that “X” is fully explained as (3+2i)(3-2i) give or take a prune.
   
   The X formula is used to determine the square root of a fart. Add this to the number you first thought of and there’s your Hubscore. Surprisingly simple really.
   
   Just in case I fall into the same trap as Bev, this is intended to be humourous, pathetic though it is.

   When HubPages announced that it was no longer monetizing hubs without views, I deleted my inactive ones so I could revise and repost them, or do other stuff.  My score went up about 4 to 5 points higher. I also notice my score changes when I edit and add more elements to active hubs.  I also might get a little boost for posting here.

   The serious answer is that it's linked to activity that HP sees as "positive", there also seems to be a random element. But it may as well depend upon pet ownership.

    Make the score whatever you want it to be. You can divide it by 3 and times it by 4, you have a better score. I believe it’s closer to 100!

    Yes, it certainly is determined by pet ownership. I have had three dogs and one cat pass away in the last two years..and my score nosedived each time.

    I have zero pets which seems to work. The people with three pets or more seem to have high scores too. I think having one or two pets might be the issue?

       Well, no, because in the UK we call them 'swedes'. Except in the West country, where we call them 'turnips'. Turnips are similar to swedes, but smaller. No one in the UK would know what a 'rutabaga' is. Apart from me, that is
       
       Swede is really delicious mashed with butter and pepper. Also used as a topping for casseroles and as a substitute for potatoes.

    In my part of my country Nigeria, it's fairly known as a sort of wild cocoyams. It is not commonly eaten. I cannot recalled how long i've been eating this rutabaga thing. But my memory tells me how I once dip the cooked starch into red palm oil sauce with salt and dried chilli pepper. Eaten with fish improves the nutrition level.

    The turnip doesn't require cooking. Just peel it and eat it as is. It's watery and tastes slightly sweet. It is mix in salads.

       In Pakistan we cook it mostly in meat served with chapati or boiled rice
