Being relatively new to Hubpages, I have enjoyed touring the hubs, reading and noticing the comments of others. As I approach having 50 followers, I would like to know what "fan" experiences you have had in the forums.
What up winsome, I am already your fan and it's good to see you in the forum. Being on the forum has helped me make friends and some of those have become followers. However I'm just here for fun, support and help. We have a good community here, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
well, there are different types of followers:
- some who regularly read your hubs and appreciate them (the 'real' fans)
- those who become followers in the hope that you follow them, not interested in your work
- then there are the 'forum' fans - people who like your 'posts' or just like to hang with you here; they may or may not read your work.
Staying in the forum gets you noticed...and may earn you all 3 above!
Well, in your case it's both. Great hubs, great forum posts.
thx tobey... see, now that's yet another person I met in the forums, and who's work I love too!
I concur with myownworld. . had it not been for the forums I would not have "met" her and been led to her amazing writings.
(the same goes for you too wave! And now....shh...winsome is going to kick me for hijacking!)
You cannot hi-jack the forum, because of the reason for the forum. Meet and talk with others, which is what the forums are for in the first place. You already answered the question and you're still presently discussing the topic with Wavegirl22.
So, you've not hi-jacked anything.
You're just saying that MOW cause you know I've got a crush on ya!!
Great reply. Fans come in different colors. Those who read what you write. Those who become your fan so that you will do the same for them, and fans you meet in the forum. I've got some of each.
Wow...two of my favorite hub buddies at the same time. I guess I asked an obvious question. = Good to see you both. I was trying to interpret Deborah's dream and didn't see you guys come in. xoxo
Thank you MOW for the clarification. I am really enjoying the experiences here and the great hubs and hubbers.
Well there are some followers like me, who read and rarely comment aka lurkers(--reason spiral of silence)
"Hello darkness my old friend" Hey sometimes the Sound of Silence can be a profound thing. Good to meet you skyfire (funny, when I typed it, it came out "shyfire"---subconsious slip?
Thanx winsome xoxo right back at cha'.
Skyfire, you crazy!
and I'm also just laughing here!!
(thx winsome! I'd fan you again if I could...)
The forums are a great place to become a fan of someone else and it will also help you get fans.
Hey everyone!
What's up?
Lots of crushes here, wait let me go to "hubbers you follow" section.
you know the other day someone here was criticizing the forums for 'sleazy flirtation' etc.etc...and one can't even laugh with friends here without people reading too much into it...unfortunately, that's the one downside of these forums...
The only person that wouldn't appreciate a good forum might be Julius Caesar. Didn't he get stabbed a few times in one???
Well flirting to some extent is always going to be there in any forums(unless we make rule against it). There should be no division, grouping etc. That's the biggest downside IMO and will take forum in multiple direction. I'm of opinion that once thread closed, it should end that issue. Oh well i don't remember where i flirted last time.
I agree. Too many rules. My mantra: Just draw the line at insults, avoid 'siding' with people and walk away from fights/arguments. And an occasional bit of flirting never harmed anyone...!
walk away from arguments ? but i love believers...
u mean 'converting' some?? you're obviously in the wrong thread then.....
No conversion/No agenda... i love believers the way they are when they debate against facts... there's more fun without doing anything against them..
debates are healthy, not insulting arguments....and I can never imagine you being offensive.....so stay the way you are...it's great... besides, humor always saves the day here!
(thx hubby7)
Well, you've got to love all this discussion---MOW you are always welcome and appropriate in anything I start or do. Feel approved and appreciated.
I do have to go back to my manual and read up on the defintion of "fans" and "followers" they seem to be taking on a whole different meaning today. Lol
you're a darling...and very kind.....see, if only the forums could have more people like this....it would be a happy relaxing place to be....and one could feel inspired to write!

Any advice?

I read both forum entries and answers/questions entries but the two features seem to overlap. Many of the questions asked in "answers" are technical questions asked by hubbers about HP. Some elicit long threads of answers just like in the forums. Since the "questions/answers"...

"I'm not going to rant...I'm not going to rant...I'm not going to rant!"I keep telling myself the above. So...in order not to rant...I'll try to make this short(er) then I usually write about...on things:Bottom line: 1.If we are a so-called "Community"...then by golly we should...

I've come to the conclusion that in order to get people to even look at your hubs, you must post in these forums. It may help get a few more fans, but if it doesn't, what have you lost. I've come here to hubber's hangout to see if anybody will become curious about my writing. I'm guessing I'm not...

Sorry for the inconvenience- but that's what I just saw. HubPages staff, Jason Menayan, who runs another account called 'livelonger', just posted here in the link below, to save the Hubs from sinking??? Hah!I quote forum rules- "Multiple Accounts: While we don't prohibit having more than one...
