I am a newbie at HubPages and continue to sort through all the helpful advice in the Forums. But, would appreciate input on what steps I should take to gain followers or fans. Thanks!!
"Hamsters" like a mantra tons of material about hamsters. Then I will check out your site.
I'm new too, but from my little experience, writing new hubs will generate potential visitors and it is not unlikely that a few of your visitors would be fans of yours, especially when they like what they see.
Being a fan of others could also be reciprocated so both of you could be fans of each other. So go out, network and socialize. Hope that helps somewhat.
All it takes to get followers or fans is time.
These are people who like what you write. If you make Hubs (and keep making Hubs), you just accrue more.
Just continue writing quality hubs and they will come. Check it out, you now have one pretty follower, LOL.
Everything above me is absolutely true...but I will add that by participating in the forums and commenting on hubs you read and like, you'll increase your chances of being seen by the community. People will be curious and click to see what you've written. If they like your writing style or subject matter, or perhaps like your personality from comments you leave, then they will most like follow you.
Post sexy, semi naked pics...
{Edit} Unless you look like me, otherwise you'll lose fans...
I'm surprised that no one has yet told you to make it known that you are supporting our Christmas Party Fund with a $5 donation and an offer to wash the dishes on the day.
Though this effort may not gain you hundreds of fans... it will show the community that you are a one in a million type person
Welcome to HP btw
Time mainly and like the others have said, joining in the forums etc. Welcome to hubpages, don't worry your followers will come...
Welcome to the hubbing community! If you write, they will come.
Seriously, what has been said above. The more you participate in the forums, reading others' hubs, leaving comments and writing quality hubs will bring in the traffic. Be patient as it takes time.
Happy hubbing!
If you write interesting, quality content in your articles, you will get fans. You need to be actively involved with the community and input in the forum politely, respectfully and honestly. Make sure you have fun too! hehehe
It is a two way affair - you involve yourself, read other people's material and you will find that others will find you.
I hope this helps! x
To attract fans:
"Invite people to join your fan club". The link is situated at the last paragraph of your profile page.
1. Write quality hubs
2. Read and comment on other hubs
3. Reply to comments on your hubs
4. Post in forum threads and start forum topics
5. Be fan of others. Generally hubpage community reciprocates.
6. Use referral trackers to sign up people.
7. Help people in Hubpages.
You may find some other ways too.
Welcome to HP - Hope you find this useful:
Comments to your Hubs and Fans to your Fan Club.

(Your latest fan)
I have one follower and that just rules. I intend to make it like a one follower cult....unless I get more followers....today....We could all follow each other if we organized it. (bet you wanna join my cult now)
Hi brian... I like your interests and what you have to say. However, I think you need to go to the extreme hub makeover and ask for some constructive critism in organising your hubs.... http://hubpages.com/forum/23
There are lots of people that can help you improve your hubscores and authorscore. Like the zen, there is an endless trip through to self enlightenment - I hope I have helped you with this start x
I feel the same exact way, but i suppose like the others say, time will tell. Here's another fan coming your way though, so hang onto your hub!!!
You have to have a little patience. With time, work, commenting on other people's stuff, you'll be noticed and get fans. It's no big rush, so don't feel like a bum because the crowds aren't beating a path to your door. First, they have to know you are there! Good luck!
DinnerMom, the other thing to be aware of is that followers are other Hubbers. You will never earn a red cent from them. Eventually (and it may take a few months) you will start getting significant traffic from outside HubPages, and that's where you get your income from.
So don't stress too much about followers!
I have a hub that deals with this topic:
How To Get More Followers On HubPages
Getting fans take a bit of time, but it will happen more and more quickly as you increase your number of Hubs, and participate more in the forums!

There are some troubled men who regularly use forums, and they have not a single hub in their profiles. How come? How is it allowed? I do not get it--- Is HubPages a chat-website?

I still think comments should be comments, not discussions, that is the purpose of a forum. Maybe it would be a good idea that every author has a forum automatically made in a widget on there profile page and the topics are always the title of the Hub. That way you can discuss it and always edit...

Hi everyone,I'm really new to Hub pages and was wondering, how do new Hubbers get followers? How can I get to know who’s who in HP and get people to visit my hubs and possibly even become followers?I know following other Hubbers is good Karma, but most of the people I follow are so popular...

I have been a member of HubPages for seven months. I have read hubbers with less membership who have more than 1,200 followers. How is that possible? And how can I attract more followers to my "little world" in HubPages?

I've come to the conclusion that in order to get people to even look at your hubs, you must post in these forums. It may help get a few more fans, but if it doesn't, what have you lost. I've come here to hubber's hangout to see if anybody will become curious about my writing. I'm guessing I'm not...
