I'm not sure if this is a good change or not, but in my 4 years here the earnings have never gone up to more than 0.01 or 0.02 the highest probably 0.08 . After the move, the earnings i get is getting 0.16 or 0.18 $ at most, is it real or could it be a bug? Should i feel great about it?
Don't feel comfortable with it until you reach the minimum $50 threshold required for payout.
It's bleak and sad. Monthly payouts are nonexistent. I can't see how HP survives unless they are skimming off our payouts. I am writing a few articles because I save on taxes that way. Other than that, I no longer see the purpose of writing here. Matt is not helpful, stretches the truth. Writers deserve more than "HubPages isn't going anywhere. Just write articles."
Amen, Kenna!
How do you save on taxes by writing articles for HP? I get the cost versus income formula, but what costs do you incur by writing/posting articles?
My CPA says I can, so I do it. It's part of research.
I'm about to wind up my self-employed status. Not enough income to declare or to incur taxes in the UK.
Same here, Bev. I have an occupational license with my city, but don't claim my business on my taxes because I've had no reportable income from writing.
But how do you identify/qualify those expenses? You can write off part of your rent or mortgage, internet bill, water, electricity, etc. if you have a designated office in your home, office supplies, subscriptions, etc. but how do you claim research as an expense?
Shauna, I suggest you talk with your CPA about stuff like that. I am not a tax expert. I just do what I am told.
I don't use a CPA. I have over thirty five years in the accounting field so I do my own taxes with the help of tax software.
On April 6th I made .48 cents, since then the highest in one day has been .17 cents. At least I have reached the $50 threshold at last so should get payout at the end of the month.
Same position. I may expect a pay threshold within some days.
My experience has been dramatically lower views and pennies in earnings. It's been six months since I reached payout (used to be every month) and at the rate I'm going, it will be another year or so before I reach payout again.
Bleak it is. I will get paid this month but it will probably be the last consecutive one in about 13 years. I can't see me making it for next month. There was a golden time when it took two days to reach $50.
Yes a golden time. I was there too. But nothing lasts forever.
Yes, and that's especially true in the tech world, where ten years ago is ancient history.
I appreciated the earnings and enjoyed the writing and editing routine that I had going while it lasted.
I don't even know if writing factual/practical articles will even be a thing in the future, that's how radical the current techno changes are.
Yes, it was a golden time. Writers can keep it real and honestly write fiction or personal experiences. AI can tell us how to prepare for a hike, but can it tell us what it was like to hike Half-Dome on a Saturday in May and encounter a rattlesnake on the trail?
People will always be able to post their poetry or fiction or personal experiences somewhere, I'm sure, but AI will increasingly dominate the areas where writers typically used to earn money online, including providing practical answers to search engine queries.
You don't have to look too hard to see this already happening.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with writing for free, but this site was different because you could earn a part-time living from your work here at one time.
It'll be a year before I make payout at the rate things are going. I used to make payout in two days, during the summer.
It's quite clear we're stuck in the belly of a sinking ship regardless of what Matt says.
It doesn't matter whether HP is around or not if it takes more than a year to reach payout.
By the time you get close to your target, your earnings will have dropped again, it's like one of Xeno's paradoxes where you can never quite reach it.
Even if you aren't interested in money, the views tend toward zero, so nobody's reading you.
"Zeno's paradoxes," I believe, is what you meant. Zeno of Elea, 5th c. B.C.E. thinker. "Is motion impossible?" is one of his most well-known quandaries.
You are correct. His famous paradoxes concern a person or thing never being able to reach its destination or catch up with something.
(From a mathematical perspective, his problem was that the Ancient Greeks didn't have a concept of infinity)
I used to earn around 100 dollars a month. Now its around 14 dollars! Admittedly I haven't written a new one for ages

I'm not complaining but my traffic has doubled overnight (still only a 10th of the good old days)And it's not just one article receiving a boost. Every article bar one has views in the last 24 hours. I have been saving articles but that would only account for one view per hub and that was a few...

I am writing articles for this website since past 3 months. At present, I have 38 featured and published hubs. I have joined for Amazon and google Adsense program. Past two months I earned like very less amount, less than 1/2 dollar. If I continue writing and publishing at the rate of one article...

I have still not seen even .01 from HubPages. I have 18 hubs and have been on the site for over 6 weeks now. Do the articles take awhile to start earning money? I am just curious what other hubbers results have been (typically). Thanks!

Hi everyone. I've been putting some work in writing quality articles the last few months, all my articles are approved as featured but earnings are still pretty low. I have earned a total of $1+ in two months, and with that speed it will take years to reach checkout. I have both Hubpages and...
