  28. gamergirl profile image64
    gamergirlposted 18 years ago

They're much much better.  Peripheral edema apparently runs in my mother's side of the family, and decided to strike me with a vengeance for the first time.  I wound up folding a sleeping bag up and resting my legs on it to elevate them through the night.  Worked like a champ, I did a little dance to see my feet back to normal. big_smile

    1. Shirley Anderson profile image74
Shirley Andersonposted 18 years agoin reply to this

Glad to hear they're better!  Does knowing that it's hereditary give you a heads-up to be able to prevent it from striking again?

  29. gamergirl profile image64
    gamergirlposted 18 years ago

Yep.  Basically it means that I have to keep active, keep good blood flowing.  It is more a matter of circulatory problems than anything else, but I have a long time to go before I have to worry about it being a serious issue.  Prevention is easier than treatment any day!

    1. Shirley Anderson profile image74
Shirley Andersonposted 18 years agoin reply to this

Yes about the prevention.  This knowledge may keep you from ever having serious issues with it.  Thank God it happened while you're young and have plenty of time to deal with it.
