And here I thought it was because our teams couldn't play hockey.

Why should they when it's our national sport?

B.T. Evilpantsposted 15 years agoin reply to this

I thought curling was your national sport. Or possibly basketball, since it was invented there.

Baseball was invented here too...in beautiful downtown Beachville (pop. 38).

I have no idea what the official sport is, hockey is just THE SPORT here.  Everything else takes place only when there's no hockey.

So I hear . . . climbing through windows, driving cars, wearing sparkly platform shoes . . . pretty impressive stuff. Can't say I've ever seen a Texas version indulging in such activities, no matter how large they get.

Lots of hunters here in Michigan. Keeps us on our toes! We tend to be very resourceful!! I do hope you are not trying to distract me, while someone sneaks up from behind. I know that trick.

      1. CherylTheWriter profile image59
CherylTheWriterposted 15 years agoin reply to this

Perhaps not from behind . . . of course, the one doing the distracting, the one in front, would be the one in danger from those antlers. That's a favorite attack pattern from Texas jackalopes, and we've had a lot of hunters gored that way.

Ok, BT--I feel badly for you and your sad state of affairs so I came up with a joke for you.  It wasn't easy--Jackalopes don't seem to be funny material!

The LAPD, the FBI, & the CIA are all trying to prove that they are the best at apprehending criminals. The President decides to give them a test. He releases a jackalope into a forest and each of them has to catch it.

The CIA goes in. They place animal informants throughout the forest. They question all plant and mineral witnesses. After three months of extensive investigations they conclude that jackalopes do not exist.

The FBI goes in. After two weeks with no leads they burn the forest, killing everything in it, including the rabbit, and they make no apologies. The jackalopes had it coming.

The LAPD goes in. They come out two hours later with a badly beaten moose with funny eyes and antlers. The moose is yelling: "Okay, okay, I'm a jackalope, I'm a jackalope!"

  29. profile image0
    RUTHIE17posted 15 years ago

did the moose sound familiar?  took some leaway with the editing there!  Now off to find a real moose joke!

  30. profile image0
    RUTHIE17posted 15 years ago

Moose joke--spur of the moment--will try for a better one later!

A redhead, a brunette and a blonde all go camping one day. They have everything they seem to need except food. So they decide to have a contest to see who can catch the biggest animal to eat.

The redhead goes first. About twenty minutes later, she comes back with a deer. The brunette asks, "How did you get that?"
The redhead says, "I saw the tracks, I followed the tracks, and boom! I got the deer."

Next it was the brunette's turn. She left and came back about thirty minutes later with a moose. The blonde asks, "How did you get that?" The brunette replies, "I saw the tracks, I followed the tracks, and boom! I got the moose."

Now it was the blonde's turn. About two hours later, she comes back all bloody, and looking pretty beat up. Both the redhead and the brunette ask together, "What happened to you?!"

The blonde said, "I saw the tracks, I followed the tracks, and boom! I got hit by the train."

I'm peeved. Those of you who write for Helium will empathize with me. I rewrote an article because it didn't meet the current word count standards. And you know you have to leapfrog them. Well, my leapfrog was rejected. I almost doubled the word count and it was well written. Now I have to wait a week. I was trying to improve all my articles so I can get a writing star and thus earn a bonus. It is so irritating... I don't see why they don't let you change your own articles without having to get permission...

I think that other writers have to vote on which of the two to publish. They will read both and vote for one of the two. One thing I hate is that you can't delete anything there. You don't make any real money unless you can win in their contests which is hard to do unless write is all that you do. I have joined in UW's rant.

After you have prepared the jakcalope for cooking, stuff the body cavity with an onion and some garlic gloves, placeit is a roasting pan add about 1 cup of water, then place in an oven pre-heated to 350 F. Cook for 1 hour add poatoes and carrots to the pan, cook for 45 minutes.

    carve and serve.

Oh, there will be many topics covered here throughout the days and nights.  Whatever strikes your fancy!  If you should happen to be the last when the thread ends (guesses estimate about 50 years) you are the winner!

Talk about whatever you want or just be silly but watch out for the stealthy jackalope!

Why do you all keep talking about jackalopes? Everybody knows they don't exist! SirDent, if you eat my brother, I shall show you no mercy.

BT--how can SD eat your brother if jackalopes don't exist?  In fact, how can you be sending us messages if jackalopes don't exist--that would mean you don't exist!

Ergo--Sir Dent has nothing to worry about since something that doesn't exist is making threats to him.

Ergo--Sir Dent can't kill the other jackalope because it too doesn't exist!

Ergo--Bob's recipes have been produced in vain!

      Ergo--------I've got a headache!!
