Shetoldme.com has proven to be pretty useless for me. Anyone else feel the same?

I think it's a great site for easy and quality backlinks that stay indexed and it's easy to get a PR4 backlink from them on their homepage since a scoop only needs 2 votes to get featured. It sucks in terms of earnings though. Massive fail in that department.

A backlink rarely stays tehre though, too much spam, so that pr4 backlink gets relegated to pr n/a very quickly, and when you are lookign at PR you need a permenant link to get the small SEO value that it generates.

While not useless, it is not the best way to go in my opinon.  I have pretty much abandoned it.

Yes... a very good backlink.  This is a reasonable traffic generator.
    You want traffic, dont you?

They are not reviewing anyone's articles anymore. I've had two in waiting for 3 months!

If I remember correctly, it's one person doing all of the approving. So I image he or she gets ridiculously backed up because of all of us doing SEO.

I use it only for backlinks to my Hubs.  I have made $13.47 in AdSense for 2010 from shetoldme.

I don't bother - never get on the frontpage, full of rubbish and I have not earned a penny from my scoops even though Adsense is set up and I have referred a couple of people!

I prefer Xomba - even if it nofollow! At least you get traffic and earn money their plus any link is a link!

However Shetoldme probably helps a teensy wincy bit.

Snipsly is good too, but Xomba is my favorite. Already made around 6-7 dollars my first week on Xomba from bookmarks alone.

So i contacted shetoldme and asked about the queued status he said that it's queued because it doesn't have enough votes to be front page but people can still view it.

That answers my question about shetoldme, I agree with @Evan, and @ns1209 Snipsly is pretty good, and Xomba is a great site.

I've linked all of my 17 hubs, 2 of which have gotten to the front page, and another 20 random news articles, 1 of which was one front page, but in my 3 weeks of membership I don't think I've earned anything.
It's brought me something like 1% of my traffic views, but it still counts as a PR5 backlink, last time I checked, so it's doing more than just the 1% traffic it brings.
The following are free PR7 backlinks (from ryankett's article):

      Delicious.com
      Folkd.com
      BuddyMarks.com
      Spurl.com
      Mylinkvault.com

I just started using Delicious and Folkd, which are linked together; you post everything on Delicious, and then go to Folkd and it'll tell you how to import all of your Delicious bookmarks instantly and conveniently, no need to copy and paste tags, URLs or descriptions. 2 instant PR7 backlinks for the work of 1. I signed up for Delicious yesterday, and so far it looks on track to get me more traffic per day than shetoldme.
I also use IMautomator, which automatically backlinks you to 15 randomly selected sites out of 47 they have on file (no overlap with above links), mostly PR1 through PR3. The site is extremely easy to use. However, most of these sites do not accept URL trackers, so the bookmarking will fail most of the time, so I just bookmark both, one with the URL tracker and one without. It's been getting me some traffic, though after 3 weeks of Hubpages membership, HP is still 90% of my traffic.
I haven't used the other ad revenue sharing sites like xomba or redgage, but they seem to be effective from the above posts. They're lower page rank, so the backlink is less effective, but you still get traffic, and also revenue.

well, shetoldme is quick and easy and I feel like it helps give my hubs better Google standing. Not sure but I feel like I'm helping myself.
