As per the advice of many Hubbers I’ve tried to sign up on Shetoldme, but can’t seem to find their sign up button / page anywhere. A while ago I saw another Hubber comment on experiencing the same problem. Does anyone know what’s going on there?
Thanks to all.
From what I understand, Shetoldme is not accepting new members right now. I don't know if that will change or when it will change.
I've actually contacted them several times to delete my account, and I am not receiving a response, and my account has not been removed.
So, I'm wondering if something is going on internally.
Thanks Deni! I've been so frustrated trying to figure it out. Thank you for answering.
If it's backlinks/hub promotion you are after, consider joining Tipdrop instead.
You can use my referral link if you like ( <snipped> , if not just go to tipdrop.com, and sign up.
It is easier to use than shetoldme as you only require to write a line about your hub, plus add your link, title and category.
What I like about Tipdrop and that they give you real dofollow backlinks that show up (a lot of them you never see) and so strengthen your hub. I've got a few PR3 backlinks from them.
If I remember correctly, you have to add a few tips of your own before you get posting privileges, but that is so easy.
I think I wrote how to descale a kettle in one sentence and stuff like that. It's probably to keep spammers out.
I'll check that site out Izzy, I signed up using your referral
Tis on my profile page too (Bio) hope it works
I have heard that now shetoldme charges to post..Now it has become paid to post....That is why you might have experienced the problem.....
Yes, you are commenting on the status as the site was being moved to a subscription basis.
Sorry no it's on this hub though - http://izzym.hubpages.com/hub/Making-Mo … -Challenge - which will probably get snipped too, but it doesn't matter if you don't use it because I don't make money at tipdrop, their backlinks are worth their weight in gold, however
And UV, thanks
Izzy, how long and how many tips does it take to get to credibility 110 so you can post links?
I honestly can't remember - 3 or 4? It is 35 or 40 points a post I think...!
Anyway it is well worth it! Tipdrop sometimes give 2 or 3 actual backlinks for the one article, and they show up on Market Samurai.
Two days and 11 tips later, I am still at 103. It seems points are only awarded when someone actively votes on a tip (one vote = one point), so it could take forever to reach the 110 which we allow me to post links.
I'm wondering if the rules have changed in some way. I notice some "tips" that are totally useless with high points. Probably it is yet another site where you are supposed to chase around following lots of people so they follow back and you all engage in mutual backscratching. I am getting so sick of this concept of artificial friends that dogs me wherever I go.
You know where to find me if you need a favour doing ever...
I don't know it if was just me. I found your page, and all your tips had a 4 or 5 on them. I clicked about 4 of them up, and nothing happened except the up button turned green.
So I might have a clicked a couple more to make sure.
Then I refreshed the page and your ratings had zoomed up, so maybe it wasn't me ? Who knows!
I think the points awarded depend on the score of the person rating up the tip. I got one point per vote before, but you might be worth 15 points a shot!
That sounds like a saleable asset! LOL think I should charge for the service?
I dunno, I've been with Tipdrop a long time yet have never really been 'involved' with the site. I see now they even have a forum. Mind you the link didn't work when I tried it so maybe they are in the process of setting it up.
I do make a point of backlinking there even if I don't feel like adding backlinks.
I should get back to backlinking, especially now that my subdomain has dropped. Have 19 new hubs to backlink, written since the subdomain change came in.
I assume there will be no 301 re-directs on them as there are on earlier hubs linking back to the main HP site?
So does that mean new hubs start off at a disadvantage unless your subdomain is rated highly by Google?
I joined tiptop through your referral Izzy, but have done 'zilch' about it since then.
Better for me to pay them more attention now.
It's got to be the easiest place to backlink to.
You have to describe your hub in one sentence and if that sentence is too long, it tells you!
The post box is where you place your link too. I suppose it could be done all fancy with html but I just put it in as a copy/paste effort and it still works as a backlink.
If you or anyone else joins and finds it difficult to get those initial 110 points, just give me a shout either here or by email and I will go vote up your tips
For those still wondering about what's going on with SheToldMe.com, they have re-opened registration. Unfortuantely, they are now charging a membership fee to be able to post on their site. If you're still interesting in them, I've added the original correspondence with details and link in a hub I posted on the topic. Hope this helps!
Total rip-off at $5 per month.
Does the site owner seriously think people will pay when there are so many free bookmarking sites?
Apart from anything else, this suggests the site was not getting any income from ads and so the owner is desperately trying to rake in money this way. Logically, therefore, it is not a site that is worth using, even for free, since no ad revenue implies nobody is looking at it.
You might like to see James's rationale for charging a fee:
http://www.best-reviewer.com/shetoldme- … g-6181.htm
One of the least convincing arguments I have read.
Basically, he cannot be bothered with maintaining the site, so decides to charge to drive away most people. If some idiots insist on paying, then he can rake in some more cash while the site slowly dies off.
Does he really think anyone looked at that site without the ulterior motive of getting backlinks for themselves?
...... woooooooow ..... That's even lamer than the email he sent me. thanks for sharing that, Sally's Trove ...
Yeah, I thought y'all would enjoy that one.
$5/month does sound like a rip-off - but the only fee I have seen anywhere about this is $1/month, $12/year. Does it vary by what part of the world someone lives in?
I've never been a part of shetoldme, and am not sure it's even worth $12/year - but that's a lot better than $60/year, and for some people it might be worth the small fee.
Thanks Rosa, I'll go check it out.
BTW Izzy I've registered on tripdrop but seem to be having problems there too... I can't get past my profile page, there seems to be a "this page cannot be displayed" error on the site. Any suggestions?
Thanks guys!
I also got an e-mail from SheToldMe offering a paid membership, is it still worth it to sign up with them? Any recommendation for good and free bookmarking sites? Thank you.
I also joined with your referral izzy. I have no idea what I am doing Maybe you could write a brief hub about the site? *grins*
Like I Am Rosa posted, Shetoldme now charges $5.00 per month to post. There are too many free sites, so they are out of the question and unfortunately this site may end up dissipating.
I hope SheToldme doesn't go down the pan as I have got some good traffic (and a bit of adsense cash) from it. However, I've also joined tipdrop via your link Izzy, so will be giving that a try too
Shetoldme.com is old news and not the best site to use for earning or backlinks for that matter. I gave up on that site long ago!
Ok so I just went to try and post something to shetoldme and it seems that even existing members now have to pay the $5 a month so I'm outta there!
I have had trouble the past two weeks trying to log in and the message is "have you forgotten your password?"..well no,but they want to charge now..I'm out also.
I think James's wishes are coming true.
Rats deserting a sinking ship. Must delete my referral on the profile.
hey, when the ships sinking, I am all for going along with the rats.

I'm new to Hubpages. Signed up yesterday, in fact. Hello everyone!!My question is this- Does anyone use Instagram as a form of advertising their blogs and URL address? It happens to be the only social media that I have left. I am willing to reactivate Facebook again, if truly needed. However, I...

Does anyone use livejournal for backlinks?I think someone told me they did in the past, but I'm not sure. Is it worth putting links on livejournal?
