      I wonder why you didn't get banned for this post or even why this post wasn't deleted? It's an obvious violation of the Hub Pages TOS, oh, I forgot you're a liberal right? Seems Hubpages has different rules for liberals.

                     so, you don't have to brag about having 4 wackadoodles!  in fact, that is the root of all craziness!  your wackadoodles.  And when you consider that your wackadoodles are going to each have 8, well, you can just see how this entire thread is going to degenerate!  whoopee!  or "woot" in common, modern parlance!

   They have just banned all smoking in bars and public places here in Spain - except for those in prison or psychiatric units!
   So I reckon the local just needs to have enough nutters like me going in to be able to be re-classified as a psychiatric unit!

            Well, it depends on how bad your habit is and if they might eventually ban smoking in prison. You wouldn't want to be in for life and not be able to smoke.

               This is very true! Spain has a history of saying one thing and doing another - and repealing or adding to new laws just after people were forced into paying a fortune to make adjustments for their new laws.
               Zapatero should have stuck to mending shoes!

                     I think the human rights people on the european parliament put the rights of the non-smoker higher than those of smokers.
                     
                     They keep pulling out figures of how many people have died from passive smoking.
                     
                     I think these figures are made up.
                     
                     How can you blame passive smoke, when cars,road transport, airoplanes and others are putting out noxious fumes all the time, and factories too emit all sorts of substances into the air?
                     
                     Does everyone who dies of lung cancer or heart disease have to have been affected by smoke from cigarettes when they were living?
                     
                     I think this is all just a giant experiment to see if deaths fall.
                     
                     When they don't, they'll still blame smokers for smoking in the street!

                        Izzy, I feel ya sister!
                        I do hope that if I ever make it to non-smoker status I do not wind up one of those smoker hating nutters! I do want to quit someday (just not today of course) but I do think that the car fumes and other pollutants out there carry as much blame as smoking. I have also read that current studies are disproving the danger of passive smoke being worse for you then first hand smoking. That never did make sense to me anyway! I mean by that logic everyone should smoke as it is less dangerous then if you accidentally breathe in smoke?!?!

    Oh! there are just so many, it would be impossible . . . let me catch my breath *puts hand on chest*  First of all, I would just like to say that SoftCornHippo is so wacky and crazy none of you could ever believe just how important to the wackos she is, but she never comes in the forums, for some weird reason.  Then there's Shadesbreath, who has been trying to break away from us and still, can't manage on his own!  Then, there's, well, I hate to say it but, Lorlie, the elite wacko, needs some help, of some kind, but maybe not exactly psych.  (Psych)  IrishObserver, Mark Knowles, Pft - everybody elses' names just, oh, yes, there's Camlo and that Lyrics person -  basically all of us need help for venturing and then staying onthis realm of hubberwacko threadness - just want to say HmrJmr, when he is not healing our wackiness, can get kind of, you know, with his slim jims and all.  Anybody who says they are not in dire need of psych help here are just deluded, and I have much compassion for their lot!  I really do.
    
    AND  I say all this with love, OF COURSE!

    The thing about smoking in bars too is that smokers drink a lot more than non-smokers.
    
    Trust me, I know I'm a smoker who used to run a bar.
    
    Now and again we'd put on entertainment and there were always those moany faces who complained about the smoke, resulting in us having to put on expensive extraction fans to straighten their faces.
    
    Then they'd sit their all night stretching out one half-lager...
    
    This is going to kill the bar trade here in Spain, making already poor people even poorer.

    Izzy this has happened here in the UK, the pubs now searve more food then they did before to compensate for loss of earnings. I guess if you cannot smoke while drinking you will eat instead
    It should be really helpful for the growing obesity problem

    So bars have had to turned into restaurants to stay afloat? That is those who haven't already gone under.
    You are right - too much of anything is a bad thing, and food is certainly no exception.
    I hate going a night out in the UK, and now Spain is going the same way.
    The other worry is that there has been a growing trend over the use of date rape drugs here in Spain.
    Now it will be even easier for the perpetrators to drug their intended victim, who has left her drink unattended to go out for a smoke.
    Guys are targetted too of course. The ultimate motive is robbery.
