Hey! I just got my first "punch you in the face" comment LOL

Hmm.  Lots of other people have apparently gotten "punch you in the face" kind of comments at one time or another.  I just got my first one (and it was over a MATH Hub  lol  lolroll.  (The fact that they seem familiar with how often I post "huge blocks of text", and that they chose the words "block of text" leads me to think there's a good chance it's a Hubber who signed out.   hmm ) (I cleaned up the profanities.  This "obvious genius" roll wrote them out.)

Not only did I approve it (for posterity and preserving the ip address), but I'm posting a reprint of it for the heck of it..

"Why hello there. Yes, I am a math hater. Well, not really hate but kind of, dislike. First, obviously it's too long. Second, stop going about the "it depends on the person blablabla" and all those opinionated s**t. Use facts. I really hate those kind of people that always think of possibilities, but not of concrete acts. Ugh, Lisa, to be honest, you disgust me. Don't even bother replying to this with another huge block of text like you always do. I do hope that we meet in person so while you speak in your nerdy language, I carefully take my time as I prepare my fist to punch your face. On the other hand, I think that you're just some nerdy fat-a*s computer girl. Yeah I know, I'm not polite at all. So, don't reply to this, okay? Well, if you do, I don't think I'll be able to read it anyway. NEED SOME ICE FOR THAT BURN? OH SNAP BIOTCH."

They are, they are bags of fun, but I only have the one so far sad
others seem to have been luckier. I did get a bunch of hubbers who commented and enjoyed it too, so it was fun all round. There are some very transparent loons out there. lol

They can be hilarious.  Now, that it's been a little while (and obviously, I'm not pretending not to be curious about who posted it), I'm thinking this was a high school kid who searched for answers he could use in his homework (I have a few Hubs that seem to attract kids looking for something to steal for their homework.  Some have been open about it.)  I wouldn't be surprised if this was a kid who just got really irked when he couldn't find the right kind of material to steal for his homework.  (Just imagining things, of course....)

They are funny. This is my all-time favorite:

you're dumb. your "home made" crap probably has more fat, especially saturated fat, and sugar. And no, I wouldn't eat it as pictured, because it looks like someone with Downs syndrome made that macaroni. I'm guessing you or your wife, who are probably no treat to look at and should not waste your time attacking prepackaged macaroni dinners. If you cared about what you were eating, you'd be on a real diet and exercise plan that wouldn't allow macaroni and cheese, period. Die.

          lol

When I write, "LOL" here, I really mean it.   smile  That one absolutely cracked me up.   lol   You wonder where whatever these people come up with even comes from!!    lol

So, let's see:  Hubs about Math bring threats.  Hubs about liking a clean house bring threats.  Hubs about macaroni and cheese appear to bring complete and utter craziness.   lol    (Oh, the "Die" at the end is a nice touch.  smile  )

I received a trash comment like this on one of my Hubs...it's only happened once...I let it stand and replied with something like, "Thank you for sharing your opinion."

It wasn't full of vulgar language, it was just trollish, meaning deliberately seeking to elicit a reactionary response.

The commenter added nothing of value in its/hers/his tirade, so I thought I'd let it stand to show other trolls that their comments can remain (within reason of non-vulgar language) and will not be fueled.

With all you've written and all the good contributions you've made to this site, I'm surprised this is the first time this happened to you!

Sally's Trove, thanks.  Actually, I got one that was "more" than this one, and that one I just deleted.  This one somehow seemed to invite being public about it.  On the one hand, it's so "stupid" it's not worth even mentioning.  On the other hand, you know what they say about sunlight being the best disinfectant.    smile

It's kind of my "favorite" thing that whoever it is 1) calls me by my name, so I'm guessing s/he feels kind of familiar; and 2) that a Hub about MATH brought all this on!!!   lol  (and whoever it is said they don't even hate Math!  I guess it's just how much I, personally, in all my "computer-girl" (lol) geekness disgust him/her!   lol (One never who know who he's going around and disgusting....hmm  )

I wonder if it IS the math  thing that brings this on. I once got an ugly one about my hub on the metric system... and it was supposed to be humor. The commentator took it WAY too serously. smile  and yes, I let it stand.

(The last time I elicited such wrath was when I wrote a Hub about liking a clean house!   lollol   I hope it's not against TOS to write about such controversial stuff as Math and cleaning.)

It appears this hubber/troll's real hatred is of nerdy computer girls and huge blocks of text. And possibly the name Lisa as well(?)
Kind of irrational. But kind of funny, too.
But thanks for sharing, Lisa. Good for a laugh (unless this person takes to stalking you -- then somebody could get hurt sad.

Knowing that both you and Rochelle have elicited such passion over math related subjects, I almost feel like writing one myself. lol

Might Mom, make sure it's good and long, and good and boring.  lol    I'm not sure your Hub will have the same kind of power if you make it good and brief.  (Oh, and make sure you give  actual facts - don't get into any blablabla that thinks about any possibilities.   lol  (I wonder what would happen if I wrote a History Hub......    hmm)

        Ha ha ha ha.
When I read that part of your post -- about really hating those kinds of people that always think of the possibilities but not of concrete acts (is that verbatim what they said or a typo in your post? lol).
My personality type detector went wild on that one! I guess some people just cannot tolerate any shades of gray. I pity them, actually!!

I'll be sure to let you know if I get my fact (or "act") filled hub published. And if I do, I'll definitely report any threats of violence.

My mom contends she never uses algebra. I asked her how she doubles a recipe. She says she doubles everything. I told her that the formula is 2x with x being the recipe, so she does use algebra. I DO NOT!

I actually gravitate toward the non-algebra-type math for day-to-day math doings; but I use algebra-type stuff/thinking in dealing with a lot of non-math-related problems/situations.  (Here's my middle-aged-ness showing up:  I actually double-check math I do on calculators/the computer by doing it all myself, the old fashioned way.   lol    I let the electronics do it first, then I double-check it with my "trusty old fashioned" math. )  (I know it's kind of nuts - and probably pretty "disgusting" to some people too.   lol  )

The thing with a longer "unfriendly" comment is that there's enough grammar/punctuation use, word choice, signs that the person does or doesn't feel familiar with the Hubber, etc. etc. that do say quite a bit about the person who wrote it..  (in the event anyone were at all interested in bothering to figure it out)

I had a really successful hub that was basically about how this company had scammed me. It ended up being number one in Google for "Company_Name Scam" and I got all sorts of comments from people whose IP range was only within the city limits of the headquarters. At first they were like:

"Oh, I never had a negative experience with this company. Their customer service is so great blah blah blah. I only ever had one problem and they rectified it immediately and then sent someone over to my house to clean my house and they bought me a huge yacht which I take to the Caribbean every couple of weeks with the money I make from this not-a-scam work at home company."

Then later it got REALLY hate filled.

Then later, I got a Cease and Desist letter from their attorney and removed the hub.

    It takes all kinds, lol!

Mikeydoes, I remember that "little affair" with the cancer-cure "issue".   smile      I know the punch-you-in-the-face thing may not be something HP particularly approves of, but it with the life/death issue of cancer, and the fact that you didn't hide your user name, that whole "incident" was pretty understandable to a lot of people.  This is a math Hub!   lol  Actually, since the person seems to imply that s/he is familiar with what I "always do" (and who apparently "disgusts him"  roll), it's either a stranger who, for some reason, reads the writing of someone whose writing he doesn't like; or else, it's a Hubber who isn't about to share his user name.  Your "upfront-ness" on that cancer-Hub incident was actually kind of admirable, as far as I'm concerned.   smile

I agree it was a despicable hub preying on the fears and desperation of cancer sufferers. Hubpages recognized this and chose to side with Mikeydoes. As I remember the guy was threatening to inform the police. All he succeeded in doing was bring his shoddy hub to the attention of hubpages.

wheelinallover, I hope you (and others) on here know that when I joked about how maybe if I wrote a history Hub it would get a similarly angry comment, I was thinking about how math and history are both "harmless" and "academic" subjects  (or at least we tend to think of them that way); and nobody would think Hubs on such subjects would elicit such heated anger.

Looking back at my own comment, I'm hoping nobody thinks I meant something like, "If you think math Hubs anger people, see what a history Hub would do" (as if math and history are subjects people don't like and would get particularly angry over).  That's not at all how my above comment was supposed to come out, and I just wanted to clarify that.   smile  Again, I was just thinking about "harmless" subjects (like cleaning and check-writing, as well   smile  ).  I also didn't want to seem to imply that people can't be passionate about subjects considered "academic" (at least while we're in school).  (I'm a history "freak" myself.)   smile
