Some of the Hot Hubs are excellent, don't get me wrong. It just depresses me that 30 or so hubs about Indian, Pakistani, etc actresses in sexy poses rank way ahead of any of mine. Actually, I went about 20 pages into hot hubs and gave up. It was too disillusioning.
you are about the 1000th person to feel this way. All I can say is..
1st: Your sooo new that you better start making more hubs before feeling neglected
2nd: The cream always rises to the top.
I'll bet some of our most successful authors have never had a Hot Hub.
Pay it no mind.
An easy solution would be going to BEST HUBS page
Hot Hubs are looking pretty solid to me and here are a couple of things to remember:
- Just because Hubs are getting traffic, it doesn't necessarily mean that they're making money
- The Hot Hubs are ranked according to many different things including traffic, amount of comments, where the traffic is coming from, length of Hub, whether it's original content and how long until the next full moon.
(kidding about the full moon part)
I think you should consider moon phases-- might make it seem less random.
Kate: I would only add to D.J.'s statement by saying there is no human looking at the hub to judge if it is well-written or not. It is strictly a numbers game. Just write good stuff and the rest will take care of itself. As they say, "Content is King."
It always amazes me where people actually go to find those hubs? Any time I see such a complaint and go to check the hot hubs page, I do not see a single sexy Indian chicks hub there. Where are you looking, tell me?
Or is it all in the eyes of a beholder?
Hmmm because you are HOT Those hubs are hiding themselves on your presence
LOL Thank you
In fact out of curiosity I even went through a few pages, and the first sexy chicks hub was at the end of the fifth page! Come on people, be reasonable! Even if this problem was here before (which I personally never saw), it is clearly no longer here...
wow. u'r right Misha!
I never check there anymore b/c it did used to be simply a collection of indian stars but..
wow. like he said, it is clearly not a problem anymore.
I'm not complaining about feeling neglected. I just feel hopelessly clueless sometimes. I'm never really sure what's going to get a big response and what's going to fall flat. It's not really about the quality of the hub to me, but my inability to predict what will draw people in. Never in a million years would I think Indian actresses would make for popular hubs.
Thanks for the tip about 'Best'. At least my rank (or lack there of) in that section makes sense to me.
Hi Kate, Just as DJ said you are about the 1000th and believe me we have all seen it , nobody can predict if their subject is going to be popular or not, I am certain that you are not
complaining. My "Beauties Only Skin Deep" counter kept on moving when I published that article and bounces from number one on google to number five , I have a few that were not strong at all, but I just kept on writing. You can't predict it, but if they like it , they will come. You are doing fantastic for being so new, so just focus on that and don't fret as you will rise above those and will realize that those other hubs are nearly not as important as others.
The thing to remember - as others have also said - is that "Hot" Hubs aren't necessarily "top money-making" Hubs or "most successful" Hubs. Those Hubs have no effect on your ability to do well, so please don't worry!
Hot is lots of traffic or lots of comments - usually a fast increase in one or other of these. Its a little bit easier when you have lots of fans because they tend to come and look and in my case often comments - which will push me onto the hot page.
Marisa is completely correct - I rarely see my best money making hubs on that page - in fact those don't generally even have a very high score! If you want to make money you don't actually need a whole lot of traffic - just traffic that will click the b**dy ads! Thats search traffic and they NEVER comment!
At the moment there is a great range of hot hubs: and nothing sexy to be seen: religion and politcs instead yuck !
Can you please post a link to the beautiful Indian girls that you speak of?
Being an international net,
The two most populous countries are China and India - so topics that attract that crowd should theoretically get a larger share of traffic
Perhaps a better stat would be based on internet users but both those countries are tech friendly so it prob is similar
well here it is anyway:
china,us,japan,india
and bollywood is more popular than hollywood
I have also seen the plain old Hot Hubpages with no tags selected filled with nothing but picsof hot indian actresses, no complaints here. i enjoyed the view
But they tend to have a word count of around 100 - so I think they dont belong - it would be nice if there was a minimum word count to post
Yes, I used to look for mine, work for mine being a hub on the hot hub list, now, I just write. It lands where it lands and I move on. Those hubs took over, it's a shame, but when you develop your reading base, those who read you will find you and most of us don't even go there anymore. At least I seldom do, I've gotten out of the habit of even looking on the hot hub list --
I totally agree with you and all of us who actually write, have commented at one time or another but it seems those kinds of hubs are here to stay, tho we all think they should have their own category and hot hub page so as not to bounce off actually well written hubs. LOL NOT that I'm criticizing them, I don't want that volcano of protests, but it does "flavor" the hot hub page a bit differently.
'sall I'm sayin' folks, don't yell at me....I don't even care that much anymore about the hot hub page....I gave my portion of it "up" to them. I caved in!!! I submitted, I became weak, I lost.
I guess the argument would be that any publicity is good publicity, so any traffic generated by the pages in question could funnel towards any other hub. But i rather doubt we would share readers and an image based hub wont have much content for adsense to feed off of.
I wanted hot hubs to be credible as one of my first of the very few I have written has been in the first couple pages for many days now, but in the long run hub generated traffic is hopefully just a drop in the bucket anyway
^^ Way to bump a 4 year old thread with your SPAM, numb nuts.
^^ No hubs, no activity in months before this post. Yeeeeeahhhh, I'm totally clicking on that link. Not.
Well as a newbie writer on HP I hadn't found the Hot Hubs before now so this is a great resurrection of an ancient post for me......
Also, the OPs comment is incorrect five years on.....lol
I can't believe the one about sexy chicks hasn't been dinged for quality yet.

I am major curious about the answer to this mystery.... just how much traffic are those Hubs who make it to the HOT HUBS actually receiving? I know that most likely nobody is going to give this up with specific numbers.... but how about some averages as to what kind of traffic brings a...

What is a HUB, anymore? Please help me understand who I'm sleeping with for tomorrow.OK, If HP now has "QUESTION" for us to ask questions, and if they have "STATUS" for us to announce that we just scratched out Butt, and if Hubs that do not MAINTAIN a constant reader level (I...

Long, long ago, it was easy to write a hub. This is what I did:Spent two days producing 1500 words or so. Got the page about 80 percent right. Published it.After a couple of weeks, if the visitors started coming from the search engines, I would put in a few more hours editing and improving. The...

I know that you can choose to display your idle hubs on your profile page, but I don't, because I don't want Google to see them at all and get confused by all those "do not follow." What this means is that my idle hubs are not available for anyone to see, and I have to actively...

I have been on hubpages for two months. I have read multiple articles on SEO and backlinking. Ninety percent of my hubs do not have backlinking. But I choose for a while to say no backlinking. It was "different" I thought and "original". ...
