I have just received my first HP payout on PayPal late last month (USD$60-something)! It was a long journey since I was not very active and I wrote on and off (I only have 31/32 hubs at the moment).
To all the hubbers who are wondering what I am earning monthly now, I average around USD20/mo, which isn't bad. This can fluctuate according to my site activity. The more active I am, the more views my hubs would generate.
Last month, I deliberately tried not be active at all and I still reached USD$20-something. And I always try to maintain a hubscore of more than or equal to 90. I'm not so sure about how that works but I observed that there are more views when the score's higher. This would of course contradict what other hubbers claim that the hubscore doesn't affect the number of views in any way. I'm just speaking out of observation.
I started out with $$$ in my mind, but this changed eventually. I am now enjoying Hubpages and if I have something that I have the urge to share, I make a hub about it. And making bucks is just the icing on the cake, not the chiffon cake itself. I am not in a hurry to earn dolyares so I'm letting it move to my own rhythm now.
Enjoy hubbing, hubbers!
Ellie
P.S. I attempted the 30 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge when I signed up and goodness, I only reached around 10/14 hubs. I did not have the stamina nor the willpower/motivation. If you're keen on finishing it, have a motivating factor and you'll prolly emerge a winner. However, to hubbers like me who also gave it a try and ended up, well, a tad short, then that's alright. It's not the end of the world!
And if you have a hub you like, do let the entire web know it by leaving comments or by sharing. Sharing will expand the hub's 'viewership' and the author will be thankful in return as well.
Good luck!
Congratulations to you. You earned it. Would you answer these two questions for me:
1. How did you reach pay-out with only 31-32 hubs? (I have over 300 hubs and have got only one pay-out so far).
2. How do YOU keep your Author Score high?
From a grieving hubwriter,
Kenneth Avery
PS thanks.
Hi Kenneth Avery,
You uploaded a new photo! A beautiful one, btw. )
(1) I believe the hub topic is the key word here. And if you can go to this site:
https://adwords.google.com.sg/o/Targeti … WORD_IDEAS
,you can check how many people searches the word/topic you're writing about.
(2) Hm. As I said, it fluctuates. Sometimes it goes down to 89 or 88. So what I usually do to remedy this, I answer some questions posted by other hubbers. And this usually does the trick; my hubscore would remain 90. (Explore Toolbar--> Answers)
300 hubs is a lot! Wow! And I have read some of it and they're absolutely hilarious! I'm not sure why people aren't digging it. They must be totally daft! )
Ellie
Ellie, dear. Thanks so much. You are a genuine gem of a person. And one talented hubber.
Kenneth
Thanks, Elderberry! Btw, your burger hub looks delish! I haven't broken my fast yet so I'm salivating.
Congrats to you! And yes, it is much harder to make money here these days. This used to be a good site not long ago. Now it is not much better than the others. I believe it is doomed to fall even further in the future unless some changes are made quickly. Not a big deal to me though.
Congrats!
I too have started thinking of the payouts as the "icing on the cake." I'm having a blast writing and connecting with people here.
Don't feel bad about not completing the 30 hubs in 30 days goal. You made it a lot further than me!
A Schwartz,
Thanks. You're right there. It's a good environment to write and connect with people who happen to like what you're writing. And 99.99 percent of these hubbers are so nice that you won't see them bashing or something.
I'm cool with not finishing the 30 hubs challenge. I beg to disagree, you have made it a lot further than me, considering how new you are to the site. Impressive!
Ellie
Randy,
Well I haven't ventured out of Hubpages yet. I'm not sure which sites are at par or even better than HP. If you have any suggestions, do share it with us.
There has been some minor and major changes recently and I'm trying to learn to navigate once again. It's crazy how so many changes can occur at a short period of time.
Ellie
Congrats! It's always an awesome feeling when you get that first bit of extra money in your pocket. Just remember though, save it for something useful; like a hairless cat, or a monkey that plays the trombone - they're always handy to have around.
Thanks for providing a little insight on how you did it and how you're doing now. To many, that provides a lot of inspiration to keep plucking away.
Keep writing and before you know it you'll be rolling in the virtual, electronically manifested dough!
Congrats dear! Keep writing more, all the best for the coming.

Prior to last month my idea of promoting Ebay was to stick an Ebay capsule at the end of my Amazon hubs, I made about $10 bucks a month doing that.So my first lesson was you want to make real money from any affiliate program - including Ebay - you have to design a hub to promote the products and...
