Who were the three greatest leaders of all time?

Leaders are all kinds and from all walks of life. There are great leaders from different eras. We like some of them; we hate some of them. But purely on manifested leadership capabilities, who according to you, are the three greatest leaders of all time?

Hitler, Stalin, Mao Zedong, Ho Chi Mihn.
Whether peaceful or radically destructive, each permanently changed the course of modern history.

Well, not to delve too deeply into this, but predictably most everyone is answering "popular" leaders.

I only argue that Adolf Hitler convinced an entire country, and more to follow him unquestioningly. Their fierce loyalty nearly succeeding in genocide.

Hello Vinodkpillai- I'm wondering who your choices are?

I think three of the greatest leaders of all time are: Buddha, Jesus, and Ghandi.

It depends on your definition of great.  If you go by the dictionary term I would say Alexander III of Macedon, Adolf Hitler, and Napoleon Bonaparte.

GREAT question Vinod! My 3 greatest leaders are:

    1. Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore - who took the small island city-state from a 3rd world state in the 60's to a 1st world nation.

    2. John F. Kennedy - whose charisma endeared him to many and whose pioneering space program policies eventually led to men setting foot on the moon.

    3. Nelson Mandela - a whose inspirational leadership, and imprisonment led to the end of apartheid in his country.

I amazed to see how many think "great" is just for the "good".  Great also means for the evil.

For me it is simple. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

Hmm you say this in the past tense, so can I assume there are no present incumbents. However, I would say the typical favourites: Gandhi, Mandela and Jesus too. If I could choose a fourth I would throw in Mikhail Gorbachev.
