Well, I've seen nothing but ice all day long.
If it's not freezing rain, it's sleeting. This was supposed to change over to snow by 7 pm which was 3 1/2 hours ago.
Still....No snow.
Who knows which is best..6 inches of snow on top of this ice or more ice??
My fear is the power because the winds are picking up.
Photo below is what a friend shared earlier today which shows crushed ice on top of a layer of freezing rain.
It may look like snow...but it's not.
Photo is above...& that was early today.
I have written on this forum before but don't see my response now. So I am writing again. It must be so frustrating to get a snow/ice storm all day long. Glad you have stock of food and extra blankets in case power goes off. I do hope and pray it doesn't. I am very sorry to hear your father's situation.
Sending you hugs and miracle prayers.
May God bless you and your loved ones.
Thanks Rosina
That cookie monster must be hungry for words again.
My dad finally has electricity after almost 24 hrs with none.
The sun is shining and the snow has stopped for now.
It's only 14° F (-10 C), but I suppose I need to work on clearing a pathway to our home.
We had a bad night healthwise last night, and there was no way for help to get here, so I need to get this done after bit.
Take care and talk with you soon.
Stay safe Brenda!
Snowfall is beautiful to watch, but it brings so many problems with it.
Sending prayers. Take care.
Stay safe Brenda! Be praying for your family and community. Stay warm.
Thank you Gianella...my Dad is over an hour away from me & his power has been out for 6 hrs so far.
That does not look like fun. Hope your dad's power is back on and you don't lose yours.
John,
It's after 1pm and my Dad's power is still not on and they are predicting it will not be on until 11:00 pm this evening.
He is trying to clean off his vehicle and get him, his wife and my neice to a safe spot if a snowplow comes down their road.
He lives on a road out in the country which has alot of curves and hills so I don't know how long it might take before that happens.
I'm a bit worried, but there's nothing I can do from where I am.
As for us...we finally have the snow. At least 4 inches so far on top of all that ice.
I just wanted to share a weather phenomenal as relating to to the Northern part of my country, the Jos Plateau specific.
This is to have a comparatively or a contrast picture.
For snows to fall here is a strange thing. That part of the country is used to have a ice during the rains, and the rains is on course, just beginning.
During a heavy rain falling, ice comes alongside. Get out of the streets and stay save in doors. That's common sense.
Stay safe brenda. Stay indoors, and I wish power is restored as soon as possible.
And, enjoy the weekend.
Thanks Miebakagh.
I've been inside, but I will probably go out later to see if I can accomplish anything.
Clearing the walk perhaps...but not until the snow stops.
No worries...I am safe.
I'm sorry to see you got this horrible ice storm. I am glad you stocked up on groceries, and I sure hope you don't lose your power, Brenda. You two are in my prayers.
Thanks Pamela...It's nice to be prepared ahead of time. We do have food and extra blankets if we need them.
Thanks for those prayers. This is the part of Winter I don't like too much, but the snowflakes are pretty.
We had a small amount of sleet in Houston and some businesses and schools are closed. Stay warm! I hope you do not lose your electricity. We lost it (and the water) for 4 days last winter when the Texas power grid failed. That was not fun! A few hundred people died in that storm! Supposedly, they have worked on the power system since that time.
Peggy
Let's hope they fixed that power grid.
When odd storms like that happen in warm places people overload the system by turning on the heat.
I hope your weather gets better soon. That sleet is no fun.
The last time we lost power for that long was back when a hurricane hit way up here in Ohio. I'm thinking it was Ike...but that's been years ago.
Luckily we survived and were prepared for the most part.
Bredz, stay warm. I'm sending you warm hugs to keep you warm in this icy cold weather. I enjoy snow, but this much doesn't look like much fun. Take care of yourself and keep yourself protected. Don't lose power. We need you!
God bless you and your loved ones.
Much Love!!
Thanks Misbah...
I'm hanging in there.
Those hugs will really help. It's going down to ZERO tonight with wind on top of that.
After a gap of many years we are having snowfall in some of the towns in Northern India. People are excited and sharing the pictures in social media and I am also going through them.
The snow is great to watch, as long as you don't get a storm.
This weather is definitely unpredictable this year
..maybe it caught Covid .
I am so sorry to hear of the problems you have had due to the ice/snow storm
I hope you are keeping safe and that conditions improve soon for you and your family. Sometimes the UK gets hit by a bad storm. Usually the north and east get the worst of the snow and ice. But nowhere is safe from it. Late last year a bad storm left people without power for a long time.
Thank you. I tried to clean off our vehicles yesterday, but only managed to get winshield clear.
4 inches thick layers of ice to chip off.
I don't think we're going anywhere soon...but in case of emergency I had to get it cleared off.
The Temperature might reach the 30s today.

Arkansas is not known as a snow location. Usually when we get the winter weather it ends up to be mostly an ice/freezing rain event. This year we got snow and lots of it.The weatherman forecast 2-4 inches the most in spotted location, mainly in the mountainous areas. Well, they missed it!I went...
