Have you ever met anyone famous?

    Tell us about it here.

I met Jimmy Saville when I was 10 and he sat and had lunch with me and my dad after some promotional thing we did using the kids from our school, think it was for Midland Bank.

Unfortunately my 10 year old self didn't have the nuts so he didn't "fix it" for me sad

Billy Connolly was in Borders in Glasgow waiting in the queue behind me once. He was in cognito. I made the late Colin McRae his dinner when I was a chef. Um met other minor celebs but nobody world famous really...there's still time smile

I just met Ty Burrell from Modern Family. We were at a theater going to a movie and there he was. He was gracious and funny. I love the show, too. (When I can see it.)

Also met jane Adams this past July (costar in the series "Hung.") She was very warm and cordial, to us strangers.

I had a friend who was an assistant to Louise Mandrell and we visited her a couple of times before she sold the theater in Pigeon Forge a few years back. Louise is the Bees Knees. We had a blast and a half! Lots of stories and fun. She had a parrot that repeated about anything, hence we were absolutely forbidden to say anything off color or swear. But then the parrot would mimmick our whispering! Funny.

Met a few other recording artists and such. Always seem to be nice people, if you don't bug them.

Everyone we meet is "famous" somewhere.  I know a few.  However many choose not to be famous in the media but even those who are still have to ensure the laundry gets done and the garbage gets out and still desire to attend the children's plays and dress in the proverbial "fuzzy slippers".

I met Anthony Hopkins in Washington D.C. while he was filming Hannibal. It coincided with a Dali exhibit I was going to see. I went outside at the Union Station stop to have a smoke before catching the next train; when I went outside there was this ridiculous crowd of people. I wandered aimlessly through the crowd awhile, trying to figure out why on earth all these people were here when I suddenly found myself face to face with Dr. Lecter and a waist-high barrier! LOL

He was very nice, funny, and human. He signed the first page of a novel I had in my backpack; he talked to me and a couple of guys from New Jersey for a few minutes, and went back to filming.

It was awesome, especially since Silence of the Lambs had been one of my favorite movies for many years.

Once a long time ago my family who played bluegrass music opened a show at "Sunset Park" in Pennsylvania. The headliner for that show was "Lorretta Lynn" We all got to meet her She was super sweet and very encouraging. She even had my sisters and I join her on stage and play with her band. It was a once in a life time experience.

How cool is that!? I don't know much of Loretta Lynn apart from the album Van Lear Rose.

Met a number of World Champion rodeo cowboys in my riding days.  Don't know if that counts, since I was a rider myself.  Other than that, no.

However, my wife, Pam, has.  Her first husband was a Marine Sergeant who could type 220 wpm without errors and was assigned to Nixon's well being for some time.  Both Dick & Pat Nixon knew her (Pam) because of that, and once even introduced her to Gorbachev.  She still has some Russian coins Gorbachev gave her.

Of course, she was a little smokin' hot twentyish redhead with fire in her eyes and a way with the guys at the time.

    i've met mostly sports stars.
kinda creepy because of the age difference but i dated self-proclaimed pitcher for the SF giants (though i think this was in the 70s/80s they were pitching haha) i say self-proclaimed because i've never gone and searched my damn self but if not he's a good fake with pics, jackets, balls, good stories.
when i was in costa rica i met a football player for the raiders, well, not anymore. he was in costa rica for a "reason" that obviously kept him from the states. lol  criminals. haha richard johnson, i think? hmm...
and all growing up i would run into the same football player turned, i don't know, motivational speaker? he played for the vikings, can't remember his name. met him at one of my schools, a church and a sports club...all unrelated. really weird. cool guy though.
oh, and i used to go to summer camp where the phoenix suns had gym membership so they would practice there and sometimes let the kids play ball.
    find times.

i'd rather get my 15 minutes than MEET someone famous.

oh oh, this is cool. sorta. haha my mom worked at a nursing home and chuck norris' dad died there...he came in one day, but she wasn't there. hmm but, chuck norris. kick ass. lol

Ran into Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey during a broadway show his brother was in in NYC and let me tell you, she (jessica) was the most obnoxious and rude person in the whole world. And seeing her up close I was shocked by how caked on makeup is on celebs!!
    Awful!

I had the pleasure of working with Robert Englund (aka Feddy Krueger) in 2004 on his new reality show. I was one of the contestants. (The show was shelved by the network later). He is a very interesting man, approachable for his fans & had a genuine interest in the contestants & their phobias. Very friendly guy as well as smart. He really needs to play in more serious roles, but he's been typecast now as a horror figure so he makes the most of it. He visited my hometown where we shot some footage, my mother's home & my home in SW Arkansas. Later, I went back to LA to complete taping of my episode. Anyhow, it was a good experience & I felt quite comfortable working with him as he's just like any other person. (or nearly). Ha.
