I'm just interested really. I have joined hubpages as a forum to publish my writing and I have little or no interest in making money at the moment. This might change once I better understand Adsense, SEO etc but I'd still want to right about what interests me rather than boosting a keyword. Is anyone with me on this?
I joined to start writing and try to learn SEO etc. Writing an aarticle to a bunch of keywords is a skill to learn while you are playing because you will get sucked into the money spiral and gloating over your 2 bucks per month !!
2 bucks! wow!......you could take a bus ride somewhere one day! Yahoo!
I will be old enough for a senior citizens free pass before I earn enough here to buy one
LOL!!! night AP! I'm sure it's morning or something like that for you.....you'll get that bus fare one day!
I write for a Christian audience, and probably some who are not, so I get plenty of readers, but few clicks!
But then I never came here for money, thankfully God takes care of business for me!
I joined hubpages for the experience, had no idea what I was looking for except I knew it wasn't sales & marketing. I joined AdSense and Amazon knowing I wouldn't make much money. If I earn anything it'll be a bonus - well, maybe I should say if I ever reach payout...cuz after 7 months I've finally reached more than $2.20!!
I joined HP because I love to write, money is just a bonus. Spending time to write and knowing that some people out there can spend their precious time reading my articles gives me priceless joy!
I joined primarily to create an online portfolio of work. Most (that is, pretty much all) of the professional writing I've done has been work for hire, and most of that has been subject to nondisclosure agreements, so I can't show it to a prospective employer.
But everything here is mine, so I can show it to anyone.
I won't say no to any adsense or amazon affiliate earnings, but that's not the main reason I publish here.
I actually joined for a little of both. I enjoy writing in spare time about any and everything that comes to mind so I joined hubpages. Its only recently that I learned you can make money from it though. There are like a million articles on blogging for money. I think it seems pretty hard so far. The $$$ that I hear people make from it though is kind of motivation to stick it out a little longer.
i joined, i didn't know about adsense or anything else. i thought it to be a place to gather all my favorite writings. i don't have adsense yet. i will apply when my hubber score reach 90.
Saleheensblog: You can probably apply for AdSense now if you want. I applied having only had one week and one hub under my belt. I was approved about 6 hours after I applied.
Yeah, I came here just for no special reason. I'm not in Adsense, Amazon or any other. But there's nothing wrong with making money with your writing skills, whatever they are. I do it in other ways.
I joined primarily to write and be able to receive some feedback on my humble efforts. The rest I will take on when I feel the time is right and I am making significant headway and progress in my writing. I think it is very important that you write about what you enjoy and to share your enjoyment with others through your own eyes and perspective rather than base a writing strategy on making money. I also think that if you follow your heart then the money will follow, if it's meant to be. That's my tuppence worth!
I love to write for myself.
But I write mostly to build up an income stream. I hope that once I've done that, I can afford to write for myself.
Do you only write for Hubpages or do you also have a blog?
I joined Hubpages to develop a portfolio of writing styles, with a view to writing for a living. It has done wonders for my writing development and I think I may have found my 'voice'. I never expected to make money from my writing here as I'm not interested in writing marketing stuff and am writing purely for myself. There are people here who make a brilliant living out of writing and are willing to share tips and pointers. It's really all up to you!
Both, actually! I don't work very hard at the money part and write what I like! But earning a few hundred a month from doing what I enjoy makes it even better!
Not to mention the many important lessons learned from the great community of knowledgeable hubbers!
I came here just to write , but who wouldn't earn money if they could , Poetry isn't going to do that though , I know that.
I started writing in hubpages.com about videogames since it's my lifetime hobby. I still write because it's a hobby, but now I have Adsense and Yahoo in my hubs, you know, just in case. ;P
However, the way I see it is:
If you start writing as if it were your job, you'll get burned out eventually. It's better just to write because you enjoy it.
Just my 2 cents.
(Also, hello again Hubpages forums/members...I posted a few times in here, and then left for way too long. )
Yes...write only when I'm inspired and do not attempt to make money. And...I realize I haven't been inspired for a bit...and that's okay!
I write because I like to, and initially wasn't interested in money. But the quest to "make some" is on now! I find it entertaining and challenging. I am not worried if I don't make money, but I'm trying to earn money because I enjoy it.It keeps my 61 year old brain working, hopefully this is building new dendrites!
I enjoy communicating and throwing things out there that make people think...
I love the fact that there is somewhere online people around the world can go to understand better how I perceive the world..
yeah, i have. i joined hubpages just to stick it to the man, and to become it's newest resident bad a**. besides, after hearing how almost everyone on this sight was a bunch goody too shoes, i figured you all might need a bad a** like me to shake things up.
I am just an amateur..no real talent but love to write and enjoy the feedback when someone likes what I wrote. Was amazed when I got nominated for a hubnugget. Still not sure how that happened but was nice. If I make some cash will be a bonus..in the meantime..will hub away:)
Congratulations for your nomination! I am your new fan, and I see that you're so humble because I find your hubs so interesting... even amusing, and yet you say that you have no talent to write. I think you got the talent to write. Keep on hubbing! All the best!
I have joined HP for both the reasons, because I want to write and also to make money (of course a few extra bucks is always good!). I haven't seen much of an earning from Adsense as of now but that's probably because I am a new hubber.I don't know how much I may be able to earn in the future! But I will keep writing and I hope that people read my hubs and appreciate what information I have to share.
Both! When the eHow WPC started falling apart,I turned my attention to Hubpages and it has been a blessing.
does it count that you still stay ON hubpages just to write and not make money. because i'll be honest, when i first got here, I just wanted to make money. however, as i got to know people here, i started to write more out the love of it then the money, as i still have yet to get paid any money from this site.
Has anyone joined hubpages just to write and not make money?
...yep!
Qwark
Does the money thing really work ?
It seems like alot of work for pennies.
Has anyone joined hubpages just to write and not make money?
sort of - that's the way it's turned out! but it never was the most important thing.
That's me...but maddie has practically accused me of trolling.

Have I joined HubPages on the worst time? Is HP dying?I've been here for 3 weeks, I'm actually enjoying it, the community is great and intelligent I'm learning a lot. But let's be honest, the money also matters a bit, I want to make a few extra bucks too. But now EVERYONE is talking about moving...
