I have a hub that talks about how meta tags were once extremely important to search engine optimization and it goes on to talk about how/why they were important, how to use them, etc.
I state at the beginning of the hub several times that it's an/a historic piece and that much of the information does not pertain to modern techniques or really Google in general.
ANYWAY, I get a lot of comments saying, "This is outdated" and "Many gurus say this is outdated... who is wrong you or them?" I never said anywhere that I'm an SEO guru, I do fairly well in SEO but am by no means a guru... and I've stated several times in the hub that it is an historic piece. It's just hurtful that people leave negative comments about my SEO ability without reading the hub which clearly states that the information IS outdated and that I'm merely sharing how meta data USED to be important and how it is still minorly useful (but yeah, mostly outdated.)
Do you guys get comments like this?
unfortunately yes. like just yesterday, I got some comments from teens on my "nightmare on elm street" film review. where they not only said some colorful things like saying anyone that liked the new remake is mentally challenged, they went onto say..and I quote.."this film sucks like the guy who wrote this." or something to that affect. However, I wasn't offended by it, as i just deleted their comments, as none of them offered any concise opinions than slander and insults. I wouldn't take it person if i were you. not everyone is going to like your hub. sadly, that's just reality, but majority of the people that do care to read your hub will like it. just be yourself and try not to care too much about what others think. if anything, i bet the people that insulted you probably didn't even read your hub like you said, and only said those things for laughs. I wouldn't listen to morons like them.
Steven, no disrespect but I read what you wrote and started cracking up. I feel guilty so I had to confess! Your run in with those brats is kinda funny. I think we've all had that happen. I had one guy that sent me at least 10 of the longest posts ever and he was so mad about a link to a test used to diagnose concussions. He posted ALL the instructions to try and prove it was too expensive for schools to spend on students. Just totally bizarre how mad he was. Then I found out he was some immature brat. I kept a post or two but canned the others. You're right though, some people don't read fully or they post to annoy you which you can't take personally. I think this is why those people didn't pick up on the fact melbel's hub was supposed to be explaining something which would be somewhat outdated now but they missed the point by not reading. I never post on a hub unless I've fully read it. Is that so much to ask!
Don't be so sensitive, ı'm like you ı get emotionally hurt by even a little negative criticism but most people don't care such things
You should leave the comments up and let all of the other Hubbers know that the commentors are just looking for their own backlinks.
They will start to run out of people going to their Hubs to comment out of politeness?
I hope I made myself clear it is getting late here
Oh, people just read the title and comment on it. Pretty typical.
Ugh, I HATE that! I mean, I know a hub can be really long and admittedly, I'll scan through a hub and look at pretty pictures and read words that grab me. That being said, I won't comment on something dogging someone's skills when I didn't read their hub. I mean, the FIRST sentence says that it's old information!
so true, and why bother, oh well they must be desperate to fight sorry for their luck
Lol!....Always a case of readers not reading just scanning and assuming....I've had a few comments on my hubpages that make it quite clear that they couldn't be arsed to read the entire thing!...oh well!
That happens to all of us, unfortunately. People are too lazy to actually read through the entire hub, and yet feel the need to comment negatively, as if they were experts in whatever you happen to be writing about, not that they bothered to read it. As far as the new Nightmare on Elm St. movie...I want to see it...I am a fan of the original, my sister said it was pretty good, but was disappointed that Englund didn't reprise his role as Freddy.
On a lighter note, I love when a spammer comments on my hub and you can tell just by what they say that they JUST came to the hub to comment so they can get a back link to their site... when it's no-follow. I delete them, anyway, because I have a sneaking suspicion that the Goog does take a look at the ratio of no-follows and do-follows to see if back links are natural. Deleting these no-follow back links would throw off the ratio so that they have a higher percentage of do-follows giving unnatural SEO away to Google. Hee hee hee!
I notice this (commenting without reading) more in the forums than on my hub comments. When Marine did his grand experiment that he had been saved, a few days in, he and I were openly discussing in his thread how I never believed it for a second. He was saying that was because I was logical, which believers are not. That kind of thing. All the while there were good-hearted believers offering their congratulations and expressing their joy, amidst all our posts about it basically being a hoax. Immediately above and below our discussion! (This was before the threaded view was introduced.)
I once wrote a Hub in response to a HubPages request ("question" these days). It was a simple math question, and I figured I'd easily whip up the Hub and maybe offer some junior high kids a few tricks. Well, the Hub does well; but since it seems to be searched for by the junior-high set, the comments are really funny (but insulting). (I get stuff like, "blah blah blah" and "Awesome article - NOT!" ) Some of them I let through. Some I don't. I kind of enjoy them, though. They sure beat the really nasty, name-calling, ones.
Just comment back with a link to Amazon letting them know that they are doing an Easy Readers Special on Spot the Dog that week and that you will be testing them on their reading ability in a months time.
Comments made by the reader is feedback for your hubs quality I think. So If that hurt you, you have to think is the comment talk the reality or not, If the comments is not valuable, don't approve this.

I like helping people with their hubs. I've gotten to know the ins and outs and how it works. I know how to use the tools and other websites to drive your traffic. If you are new post hubs in here and I will get to each one of them to let you know what I think

Hi Anybody..I need help.I am probably am asking stupid questions. If you feel that I am, just ignore me. I've been here since late June, and thanks to all the advice I took early on, I have a good hubber score (ranges 95-100).I have 14 hubs,(or 15..can't remember..)and I like what I have done...

I've been on here for a few years, and I guess I never really understood the point of these scores. They don't seem to provide any real value to the user and I can't convince myself that they add value because they fluctuate so much. What's the point? Am I supposed to use these scores to tell me...

I notice that some hubbers will put out a burst of hubs - 3 or 5 say one after the other and then nothing for a week or so - others do a more regular posting pattern? What works best - I tend to publish then promote and then publish the next one a few days later but I wonder if there is...

I hope this is in the right forum. I am trying to figure out what went wrong with my hub. The second day I was on the first page of google. I realized that I hadn't put the right title, I meant to change it before I published it and had forgot. so I went back and change the title....

How Many visitors do you get in one day on your hubs if you have written approx 150?The reason why I ask is that I have seen so many people on the forums stating they have at least 1000 a day. This is fine but they only have 22 hubs! is it just me, or am I missing something? perhaps my hubs are...
