In the spirit of the holiday, what would you say is the worst Halloween "treat" that a trick-or-treater could get?
    i.e. Charlie Brown got rocks...
i.e. I have heard that dentists had out toothbrushes...

So have at it. What is your idea for the worst Halloween treat ever (that one could actually hand out to kids).

Rocks wouldn't be a good idea, thats like giving nuclear weapons to Iran.

Something bad is bound to happen.

I remember we use to get raisins.  I also didn't like licorice, but my brother did.  I'm sure there is something worse, but I can't think of anything.

    hi Betty,

Raisins... hmmmm... sounds like a "health nut's" house. smile

Licorice... love it! I guess one person's trick is another person's treat. smile

I never liked Neccos.  They taste like chalk.

We used to play communion with those.  (Catholic mass)  They were perfect.  I loved that chalky funny flavored candy.  I'd buy them for the movie and sit in the dark and try to guess what color I was getting by the flavor.  (early taste test.)  The pink ones tasted like pepto bismol

I got raisins before!  Not the best... Hmm... other bad ones... One year, this old man (like 200 or so) was literally scooping M&Ms out of a huge bowl with a spoon and just dumping them into our bags.  That was creepy... And, another lady gave us fruit - No thanks. tongue

Fruit is not a treat! Plus, we were told never to accept apples cuz they would contain razor blades!

My idea of a bad haul is a house that doesn't give you any chocolate! That's just WRONG!

BTW, Anyone doesn't like their Neccos send them to me. I LOVE Neccos, especially the brown ones!
    I'll trade you any/all licorice.

For years now, my mother (85 years old) has given children their choice of freshly cut carrot sticks or candy.

Interestingly enough, the carrot sticks always go first!

When I was a kid, there was a house on my block that gave out pennies. One penny per kid.

As far as bad treats, I'd have to say sardines might be unpleasant. Also one per customer, of course.

...those gawdawful brownish/orange coloured halloween chewy, some times rock hard candies...i don't know what they are called....usually wrapped in orange & black waxed paper.

...at one time i was into handing out really, really, healthy stuff...the kids probably didn't like coming to my place....i switched back to good ole' chocolate!

I think you are talking about candy corn.  Chocolate is always the best I think.

The other one I remember that I did not like was candy that looked like caramels but it did not taste like caramel.  Most of the time you knew these sat for like a couple of years because they were hard.  They were also off brand or maybe bought in bulk.  Good caramels are tasty but these were hideous.

No, candy corn isn't rock hard or wrapped in black and orange waxed paper.

I think they are some sort of taffy.

They, I guess would be a little better than a bland disk of starch.

Pepto Bismol is a perfect description.

In my neighborhood, those were called peanut butter kisses, but they were also available in anise flavor, which I think were called blackjacks.

worst were the bruised up apples, soft and mushy, that some people would hand out.  YUCK

  17. ediggity profile image60
    ediggityposted 13 years ago

The knock off brand candies are the worst.  Like the ones that just say taffy, crunch, or peanut butter cup.  It's like a let down after getting the real Laffy taffy, nestle, or Reese's.

By the way, if a guy named Reese comes up to you and asks you for his cups, you better hand them over.

    Well, all ye ghouls
    and wanna be ghosts
    dress up real scary
    but beware of your hosts.

    What is most frightening
is not what you have on your head,
but what you have in your bag
    all rotten and dead.

    Bwahahahahahahaha

Beware of hundred year old candies
given to you in bulk and stuck in a ball
It could be m&m's or boston baked beans
or a chocolate or carmal candy thats small.

    Imagine getting a banana
That would be quite a shock
    or how about a caramel
that is hard as a rock.

    Apples, oh my goodness....
    All mushy with rot.
    That stale taste tells you
you wont like it a lot.

    Raisins are for cooking
    or handed out for health.
They are not a Halloween treat
    given as candy in stealth.

    Generic unbranded candy
is suppose to taste real good.
Well, I would rather have the real thing
sitting in grease under my hood.

    Hard candies of unknown origin
don't taste of what they try to portray.
Not root beer, cinnamon, or cherry.
    We just throw them away.

    Neccos that candy
    of chalky delight
    I have nightmares about them
especially the ones that are white.

There are things that are bad
    like  stale un-popped popcorn too
    I would not give them
because I would be afraid someone would sue.

So as we near the evening
    trick or treaters beware.
    The candy you get
may give you quite a scare.

    So if you really think
you are giving them a scare,
they are laughing.  If you dont believe me
take a look in your bag if you dare.

    Bwahahahahahahahaha

    Happy Halloween everyone.

The worst "treat" (or was it "trick"?) I ever got was last year. I'd forgotten it was Halloween. Not only did I not have anything in, I was skint...it was a really rough time in my life because I really didn't have any money for food even..
Anyway, guisers came to my door and I answered (because I'd forgotten it was Halloween, or I'd have turned the lights out and shut the curtains, seeing as I didn't have any money to give them either). I apologised for having nothing and they said it was fine, but returned later to pelt my house with eggs.
    Thanks kids!
They did several of my neighbours houses the same way. I know who they are but their parents denied it was them. They were seen buying the eggs in the local supermarket that day a year ago.
