What Will Cause the Feds to Enforce and Protect Our National Borders

I thought, obviously in error, that when foreigners crossed the border, attacked and killed Americans, in America, the Federal Government would take the appropriate actions to prevent recurrences.

Recent events shows that killing American citizens by armed thugs from south of the border will be tolerated by our government - even without protest.  Government leaders 'are concerned' as well as 'closely watching the situation'.  But, what the hell are they doing about it?

When are we going to act?  When?  How many Americans will need to lose their lives before we do anything except 'study the situation'?

Perhaps the intent is not to act, as evidence would indicate. What than can be gained from not acting.?

There are at least 50 things I lose sleep over before protecting our borders, unless you're referring to bombs on planes headed for tall buildings.

      From CBS News -

"In a bid to remake the enforcement of federal immigration laws, the Obama administration is deporting record numbers of illegal immigrants and auditing hundreds of businesses that blithely hire undocumented workers.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency expects to deport about 400,000 people this fiscal year, nearly 10 percent above the Bush administration's 2008 total and 25 percent more than were deported in 2007. The pace of company audits has roughly quadrupled since President George W. Bush's final year in office. "

But that won't slow down the wingnut noise machine....

"A recent report from the Pew Hispanic center shows illegal immigration declining by nearly 67 percent, reports Tara Bahrampour:

Between 2000 and 2005, an average of 850,000 people a year entered the United States without authorization, according to the report released Wednesday. As the economy plunged into recession between 2007 and 2009, that number fell to 300,000.

According to the report, the America's illegal immigrant population has actually decreased by 8 percent."

One more thing that's important to note from the report: "In addition to the decline in Nevada, three other Mountain states -- Arizona, Colorado and Utah -- experienced a decrease in their combined unauthorized immigrant population from 2008 to 2009." That contradicts the arguments of supporters of Arizona's SB 1070 and other border hawks that more restrictive laws are necessary because of a recent flood of undocumented immigrants..."

          That's from the Washington Post..

Doug, good info. So we see that the economy has played a role in reducing the flow of illegal immigration.

Also, since the Obama administration is so effective at removing illegals, why is there a huge push for amnesty? I think it clearly demonstrates that the Dems are stealing a page from the Reagan era....let em in and you get the votes.

The answer is sad and simple unfortunately. They won't do anything until there's a mushroom cloud over a U.S. city. Even then I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't first try to blame it on a homegrown militia group. Some idiots will even try to blame it on Bush.

I would tend to believe them in this case.

It also becomes obvious that to extend the trend all we have to do is extend the depression - crank it back up until the US is as undesirable a place to live as where they are coming from.  Easy!

So conservatives are driving this country into oblivion as an answer to illegal immigration? Brilliant!
