Help, Please! My content has been copied, help me find where?
Thanks, KCC! I've also been unlucky in my search. I used two or three sentences, in quotes, but came up empty. I emailed the HP team, let's see what they come back with.
If someone finds anything, I appreciate the tip. I'm going to take off to the office now, what a bummer way to start my day. Grrrrr. Ain't we all lucky that today isn't the 27th of the month!!
It seems my complain worked!!! Thanks all for the support, and PM thanks for the link to the copycat! For some reason, it wasn't appearing on my searches!

Thanks, LG! The thing is, I still see the annoying "duplicate" message in blaring red in My account page. Have contacted HP team to see if that can be removed somehow.
Also, I have asked them how stuff is marked as duplicate, and whether they shouldn't check with us BEFORE marking something as a duplicate. I mean, I had to go to lots of trouble yesterday to justify that the material is genuinely mine. Wouldn't it be fair that before flagging anything they give the chance to explain? As opposed to the other ay round?
Oh well, at least the copy was taken down. Now let's see if I can get the red duplicate annoyance out of the way, too- Leta Sposted 15 years ago

All is well except for the glaring red "duplicate" tag under the hub name in my account page! I can't tell you how annoying that is! Laugh!
I have emailed HP team again, and I'm hoping it goes away... soon! My letter writing pastime may come to an abrupt halt if that "duplicate" tag doesn't go go go! Doesn't look like the hub is being penalized for it either, so I suppose I'll have to act like the adult I'm supposed to be and let it go. Or maybe not! Shesh, the glaring red "duplicate" tag is odious!

You can tell if it's an out and out copy if, well, it's an out and out copy Seriously, it was a plain copy and paste, not even a single word changed. The problem was that I got flagged here for duplicate content, and that's why I knew. Plain unfair, if you ask me, 'cause I never got the benefit of the doubt --I just got flagged, and I had to ask help here to track the copycat down.
Then, I had to file a complain, AND after everything was sorted out, what I got was a message that "I was granted an exception" because I am a "certified original". The copycat was taken down. BUT I stil have the "duplicate" red tag under my hub on "My account". Feck that
E.Hal Licino gave this wonderful information it is www.copyscape.com I too found some of my wonderful articles copied and I kindly had them removed , that is why I copyright all of them and note it at the bottom of the articles. Not that it is to safe, but it certainly helps.
I add the copyright and I actually copyright and register them , no it isn't a silly question. Here is also something I learned from a writer to keep your writings safe of course until it is stamped and official. Print out a copy of your article, mail it back to yourself and do not open it and the date stamped on the envelope shows the day you wrote it. It will also show your address etc. if you ever need it in court.
Sounds strange but I always cover my booty... I don't mind if some use it, but I hate when people steal it and claim it as theirs!!!
Thank you, AEvans! So I guess that's pretty much what I did with mailing my hub, password protected, to two different people before actually publishing it. Guess I'll do it from now on every time I think it can be snatched.
I don't suppose I'd care one way ot the other if someone posted it crediting the source. But this was a plain knock off, PLUS I got flagged, grrrrThat was very naughty of them, just think you are the genius behind it and they did not have the creativity to do it themselves, when you become reach and famous , knock them on their noggin. If you seen it and you can comment or find out who published, e-mail those little knuckleheads and let them know what they have done, as that is a no-no.
