    Hi everyone,

My hub A Love Letter (http://hubpages.com/hub/ALoveLetter) has been flagged as duplicate, which means someone has snagged it and posted somewhere else.  I can't find where, and I appreciate if you help me find the copycat.

For those of you who read it, you know it's a "follow up" on my other hub "Not a Love Letter".  BOTH are mine, and I appreciate your help in finding the culprits.

    Thanks!
    Elena

I tried to find some unique phrase and search and all I came up with was yours.  Maybe someone (or multiple people) marked it as duplicate since you have several similarly named and they assumed they were dups?  I would still think HP checks it out.  Good luck in your search.  I figured "chasm" would be the word that might help you pinpoint it.

Thanks, KCC!  I've also been unlucky in my search.  I used two or three sentences, in quotes, but came up empty.  I emailed the HP team, let's see what they come back with.

If someone finds anything, I appreciate the tip.  I'm going to take off to the office now, what a bummer way to start my day.  Grrrrr.  Ain't we all lucky that today isn't the 27th of the month!! big_smile

Oh good!  You got it!  What did you think about the blog it was posted to?

If you file a formal notice of infringement with flixya, they will take down that copy immediately.  I had to contact them about copied content from one of my hubs and they responded within a day.

It seems my complain worked!!!  Thanks all for the support, and PM thanks for the link to the copycat!  For some reason, it wasn't appearing on my searches!

I just got the Duplicate flag removed from my hub!  smile  I'm a happy camper!

Okay, we'll wait until the weekend for the celebration, but I have a birthday party to host Saturday night.  Can we work around it?  big_smile

Thanks, LG!  The thing is, I still see the annoying "duplicate" message in blaring red in My account page.  Have contacted HP team to see if that can be removed somehow.

Also, I have asked them how stuff is marked as duplicate, and whether they shouldn't check with us BEFORE marking something as a duplicate.  I mean, I had to go to lots of trouble yesterday to justify that the material is genuinely mine.  Wouldn't it be fair that before flagging anything they give the chance to explain?  As opposed to the other ay round?

Oh well, at least the copy was taken down.  Now let's see if I can get the red duplicate annoyance out of the way, too smile

    Elena-

Have you tried e-mailing somebody at Hubpages?  I had one of my articles (it was my original content, just also published somewhere else) flagged like that & I contacted Maddie Rudd and the flag was removed right away.

What a hassle you had to go through!  Horrible.  I'm so glad it got taken care of though.  Nasty people out there.  Terrible!  Hmmph!

Hey ripplemaker! smile  All is well except for the glaring red "duplicate" tag under the hub name in my account page!  I can't tell you how annoying that is!  Laugh!

I have emailed HP team again, and I'm hoping it goes away... soon!  My letter writing pastime may come to an abrupt halt if that "duplicate" tag doesn't go go go!  It had been a while since I threw my last childish tantrum, who knew I still had it in me, eh?  big_smile

This has happened to me twice. Once I successfully got it sorted out but the second one I still have a red duplicate content alert for! I asked the guy whose forum it was on to remove it and I posted a complaint in his forum but it still must be up and I am not going to chase this up again seeing as I don't see why I should have to.
It is really annoying having your stuff stolen like this I know!

Bard -- So I guess this means the odious sticker can remain there under the hub forever?  AGHH

Well I'm not being penalized for it as far as I know but it did annoy me especially when having tracked it down it was posted with no credit to me at all in a forum for Indigos. I said I would have at least appreciated my name to the work or a link!

It's my understanding (could be wrong) that the awful red sticker can only be seen by the author, if that is any consolation.
(Somebody tell me I am not wrong...please?)

Rochelle you are not wrong. Elena said it was on her "my account" page, I believe only the author can see that page. cool

    Elena.posted 15 years ago

Morning, Bard!  The sticker is still there and I can see my sissy fits won't help smile  Doesn't look like the hub is being penalized for it either, so I suppose I'll have to act like the adult I'm supposed to be and let it go.  Or maybe not! Shesh, the glaring red "duplicate" tag is odious! tongue

this is the second time today i've heard about a copycat on flixa - lots of articles on the web seem similar but to out and out copy...how can you tell if you've been copied...how can you tell if you are not yourself writing something way to similar to someone else

  22. Elena. profile image84
    Elena.posted 15 years ago

    Hi Dolores!

You can tell if it's an out and out copy if, well, it's an out and out copy smile  Seriously, it was a plain copy and paste, not even a single word changed.  The problem was that I got flagged here for duplicate content, and that's why I knew.  Plain unfair, if you ask me, 'cause I never got the benefit of the doubt --I just got flagged, and I had to ask help here to track the copycat down.

Then, I had to file a complain, AND after everything was sorted out, what I got was a message that "I was granted an exception" because I am a "certified original".  The copycat was taken down.  BUT I stil have the "duplicate" red tag under my hub on "My account". Feck that smile

By the way, and in case it helps anybody:  Before posting another potentially knockable hub I emailed it, password protected, to two hubbers here.  Only way I could think to prove that I had the content in my possession before it actually went live in the world.

Hal Licino gave this wonderful information it is www.copyscape.com I too found some of my wonderful articles copied and I kindly had them removed , that is why I copyright all of them and note it at the bottom of the articles. Not that it is to safe, but it certainly helps.smile

Hey, AEvans!  When you say you copyright your stuff, what do you mean?  That you add the (c) in your articles, or that you actually register them?  Just wondering, 'cause anyone copying the article can as well put (c) Mr Copycat here, and be done with it?  I just wonder, sorry if it's an idiotic question!

    1. AEvans profile image71
AEvansposted 15 years agoin reply to this

I add the copyright and I actually copyright and register them , no it isn't a silly question. Here is also something I learned from a writer to keep your writings safe of course until it is stamped and official. Print out a copy of your article, mail it back to yourself and do not open it and the date stamped on the envelope shows the day you wrote it. It will also show your address etc. if you ever need it in court. smile Sounds strange but I always cover my booty...smile I don't mind if some use it, but I hate when people steal it and claim it as theirs!!!smile

Thank you, AEvans!  So I guess that's pretty much what I did with mailing my hub, password protected, to two different people before actually publishing it.  Guess I'll do it from now on every time I think it can be snatched.

I don't suppose I'd care one way ot the other if someone posted it crediting the source.  But this was a plain knock off, PLUS I got flagged, grrrr  big_smile

That was very naughty of them, just think you are the genius behind it and they did not have the creativity to do it themselves, when you become reach and famous , knock them on their noggin. If you seen it and you can comment or find out who published, e-mail those little knuckleheads and let them know what they have done, as that is a no-no.smile

I think you did fine, Elena.  But I'm not a professional writer.  That is pretty frustrating, huh?
