I don't know if it is more of a gift to myself, but I am resolved to study the Bible more so that I can have a deeper understanding of the essence of Christ

I've started looking more into the history of Christianity to get a little bit of an understanding of its current state right now.  I find it fascinating.  I need to do some more reading of the Bible as well.

Oh god !!  you cannot be serious !

WE have been through this dozens of times  --  Why would any all-powerful 'create a universe in one bang' type of 'being' demand some a@@-licking gift from an insignificant blob of flesh like you or me ?

Grow up and put that mental babygrow away for goodness sake !

That is a great question mikoas.  I don't have an answer, yet and I like the idea but I'd like to come up with something that I consider presentable.  I really don't know what my first gift to God should be.

This is just me personally yet i don't make a big distinction between one day or date than the next when it comes to this type of issue. To me these traditions are more something man celebrates rather than it being a spiritual thing. But as I said this is just my opinion...
Should it be asked of any or every day it would be to share the gospel. The reason being this is our single requested task...

    Why would God need gifts?

I don't think the question implied that He needed them. Is that your motivation when giving a gift to a friend or loved one?

You just joined this site 2 hours ago, and here you are trying to force your nonsensical view of morality.

That's mighty superior of you.  I wish I was one of them superior, lofty Christians.

Ouch. I think the chip on your shoulder is clogging your ears. Where was nonsensical morality in that question. If I offended you, it was not my intent.

Hes always like that.. bullying himself around with preposterous undertones of offense. Ignore it and it will go away (hopefully)

One of those superior, cant believe in nothing because God failed me at an earlier stage of my life. LoL. so now everything said is offensive. Just some more dirt on the edge of the deepening hole.

I'm sorry to know that is motivated by pain, but it lends credence to the old adage that there are no true atheists, just people mad at God. Hopefully getitrite will find what he/she is looking for.

Why are believers so stubborn and closed-minded?  Their analysis of atheism is subjective and absurd.  They have no way of analyzing why someone would choose not to be delusional.  Why?  Because they don't even know that THEY are delusional.

There are true atheist.  A true atheist is someone, who after the "evidence" has been viewed, decide that the evidence doesn't support the claim.

Since you have ZERO evidence of the existence of this "GOD" it is appropriate, and HONEST to deny the claim.

Why would you say that atheist are mad at God, when atheist don't believe in God?  Are you mad at Thor?  Is that why you don't serve Thor?

You're so funny. I have three incidences in my life that show, without a doubt, divine interaction. I have no reason to doubt, BUT even if that were not true I would still find it difficult to believe that I knew everything about everything on a scale so vast that I could irrevocably conclude that they're was no God. Nor is it possible for me to imagine any mortal with the level of knowledge that would lead me to assume their conclusions were irrefutable. The truth will set you free, but if you don't search you'll never find it. maybe the search will lead me to a different conclusion than I have reached this far, but so far it has only deepened my awe.  Hope you keep an open mind too.

Why don't you really find out what someone's motivation are before you say such slanderous remarks? What you said is completely untrue.

Of course, with a delusion that an all powerful entity loves you, gives you special rights.

I think the greatest gift people can give to God is to not be annoying, proselytizing dogma-bombs. If they take that energy and actually go out into the actual world where actual people are and do actual good, as in doing something with their physical bodies in physical space that is beneficial to actual, physical people suffering actual physical need, THAT would be a great gift to God.

I can only assume God has filled up his barf bucket from reading all the empty praise he gets online.

What is it that you find so offensive about his question or, more pointedly, what are you so mad about that you would lash out at someone for a simple question?

I don't find the question offensive at all. I think it's a great question. Which is why I took the time to answer it.

What is it about my reply that makes you become defensive and assume that I am lashing out?

God does not need any gifts.  That is a man-made construct.  If there is a God, I'm quite sure it would hold no meaing, to it, if I went and read some nonsensical bible.

Let's just be civil toward our fellow humans.  That's enough for me.

Good answer, and please don't take offense, but it seems odd that a parson with your earlier stated philosophy would be wasting time in a forum labeled Christian worship and devotion. And it is quite possible that, once again, I have read something that wasn't there. Is it simply that you aren't to be labeled a high falluting one?

thanks you all for your replied. the Bible says there is a first fruit which i believe that every christian should give to HIS GOD. and the Bible teach us how our gift should be. but the most important of it all is for you to first give yourself to GOD in Holiness, faithfulness and righteousness. by this your gift to God will be acceptable before HIM. Perhaps giving your-self means giving your-ego to God. Then you might know God. Who interprets it that way and who will give up their ego?

      1. profile image52
ddlg1958posted 13 years agoin reply to this

I think that is profoundly right. That is one problem I've found in any organized religion.  They seemed to always get hijacked by people with huge egos. The most spiritual people I've met are ones who seem to internalize the essence of the faith they profess to believe in, and pretty much go their own way in the world.

Very good reply !  What else do we realy have to give?

I'm going to ramble for a moment.
What this has to do with anything I do not know?

What do the trees ,  or  the grass  have, to give back to the sun, but to simply fulfill their purpose?
It is not required for them to read a book to know what their purpose is.
They are in contact with their source of life whether they are aware of that fact or not.
Their source comes from everywhere in their immediate surroundings, which depends upon everything else in their immediate environment.

So; to me, the attempt to live in harmony with our surroundings would be our greatest "Gift?" that we have to give.

This is easier said than done.

        1. pennyofheaven profile image79
pennyofheavenposted 13 years agoin reply to this

Oh I can see the how your ramble is related. I absolutely agree and perhaps that is because the things of nature do not have to contend with the almighty ego. Or at least ego thinks it is for the most part. And not having an ego allows it to be one with the source. Which as you say is every where.

I didn't give any special gifts to God. Its my observance to ignore the traditions of unsaved mankind. God told his people what to celebrate and when and that is suitable and perfect.
