   The situation in Egypt remains highly unsettled and the eventual outcome is still an unknown, but two things are clear: first that Obama is a failure, in spite of all his record of fine sounding rhetoric; and secondly, the empire struggles on, with as good a chance of winning this round with the Tahrir Square democracy protestors.
   
   Obama’s speech in Cairo was essentially about terrorists, extremists, and the US will to combat them, surrounded with a bunch of other nice language about friendship with Islam, democracy, and growing economies. Obama’s recent slow and ineffectual reaction to events in Cairo and elsewhere in Egypt demonstrate the lie behind the fine sounding rhetoric of “hope” and “change” that he used in his election campaign and the fine sounding rhetoric of “democracy” used in his Cairo speech. At this point in time they are meaningless words in relation to events in Egypt.

      My impression is that President Obama's been handling a delicate situation very well. Let's hope the demonstrations result in a more democratic, stable and peaceful country.

      I'm just glad he's not sending troops in!
      
      On a final note, I hope we can stop sending billions of bucks to tyrannical dictators now. THAT'D be some good change.

   The West needs to confine its efforts to repatriating their citizens and humanitarian aid if it is required.  It's time that the Egyptian people get to choose how they want to be governed, even if the rest of us feel that what they choose is threatening to our interests

   The population of Egypt is made up of a large number of young people who see democratization in Arab countries.  They want the same thing.  They can no longer tolerate the dictator thing.  Bush warned of this at the beginning of the war.  He warned that democracy would breed the desire for more democracy.  We're seeing this in Egypt.  It will be a long road for them just as it was for the colonies and any other country who revolts against the incumbent.  It's just that in this modern day, we can't understand nor do we want a non-peaceful route to freedom. 
   
   I think Obama did the right thing.  Stand back and watch and listen before addressing this issue in public.  We have no business there.

      Obama did no such thing!  He called for Mubarak's resignation! 
      What he should be doing is resigning himself.  I swear, his nose is longer than that chip on his shoulder.

   I would hope the US has learned its lesson in Iraq.
   While we support democracy in any country that wants it, I agree with those who say Egypt needs to follow its own path to democracy.
   BTW, in his interview with Obama a few minutes ago, Bill O'Reilly seemed to be accusing Obama of wanting the Muslim Brotherhood to assume leadership.
   I'm a bit surprised Obama dignified that with an answer!

   How's Obama doing?   Well, he encouraged the population to hope for democracy during his Cairo performance and he didn't ignore the protesters once they took to the streets.  That's good.
   
   But then he threw his weight around and told Mubarak he had to go now and that caused Mubarak to answer him resulting in thirteen deaths and many hundreds of broken heads.
   
   I think that Egyptian who came right up to the CNN camera and said, "You are not our president, our president is Mubarak.  Eff you Barack Obama," was surely delivering a message from Mubarak.
   
   
   Now the Obama administration is back pedaling for him.  Maybe Obama will learn he is not actually king of the world.
   
   According to leaked documents Israel is in favor of Suleiman to lead Egypt.
   
   I saw someone described as one of the richest men in Egypt who owns a television station there, a man who is publicly on the side of the protesters interviewed on Fox this morning.   He said that the transition must be slow in order to keep the Muslim Brotherhood from taking advantage the situation.
   
   
   So, I think Barack Obama was wrong again and I think he is responsible for some deaths and injuries in the streets of Cairo, including injuries to some journalists.

   Think Obama has very difficult job with Egypt. He has to pretend to for democracy
   in Egypt while at the same doing everything possible to prevent it. Egypt is the recipient of the largest of more US foreign aid than any other country. If this is mostly military aid then it has been used to prop-up dictatorship for 30 years.

    3 minutes into her speech announcing her campaign for President of Egypt, Palin took one look at the crowd full of women in hijabs.. and it finally hit her... "you aint in Wasilla anymore, girl!"
