It's National Nurses Week and Florence Nightingale's birthday is May 12th. Just a little fyi to all those who know a nurse. Let the nurses in your life know how much you appreciate them this week.

Post to this and let me know if you know someone who is a nurse or are a nurse. Tell me what things your employer does on this week. Tell me how you celebrate this week. I am interested to know what other people do during this week.

Best regards and respect to all nurses everywhere! - Nursing is hard work and we have not enough nurses most places in the world. I can't say enough good things about them.

I teach around 80 pretty nurses English every week - so I am doing my bit   and in case anyone thinks I am being sexist, ten of them are guys!  big_smile

You should be proud of a nurse - and most people love nurses which I guess is a bonus beyond their smaller than should be pay packets.

I am a nurse too. Critical care is my specialty. I have been a nurse for 17 years. I knew I wanted to be a nurse since I could talk. I can't think of another thing that I would rather do besides writing. I am always interested to know how other nurses feel about what they do and what people think about nurses.

Also a nurse, Labor and Delivery/Nursery.  Thanks for your work in Critical Care, Tammy.  CC nurses have helped friends and family of mine out a lot, and I've been grateful for their watchful eyes, and their diligence in teaching them.

Yay to Labor and Delivery/Nursery nurses! Not something I am good at.

In nursing school I got claustrophobic and always ended up in the hallway with my head between my knees to keep from passing out. The instructor told that story for years to all the new nurses. I guess that was my 5 minutes of fame. LOL.

Lol, Tammy, I bet you'd be just fine today.  Also congrats on your award--10 years at the same facility would be a modern-day miracle for me.  I traveled, am on staff now for just over a year, and now I'm ready to go per diem as soon as they post it!!!

I started out my career traveling but only got to one destination where I have stayed for the last 17 years. I hope the "baby factory" is nice and quiet for you on your next shift! big_smile

Just came home from the awards banquet for the hospital that I work at. I received my ten year pin.

I too have volunteered for decades at the local hospitals - what a great experience.  Wonderful professionals - they deserve a week of recognition!
