    Hi,

I'm Esme and I posted a big thanks in the main Religion forum but I wanted to say THANK YOU here in the dreams section.

Everyone has been so kind and supportive here--just an amazing group of people, a group I'm happy and proud to be a part of.

I'm looking forward to being an active part of this forum, however, I do not ever want anyone to think that just because I write about dream interpretation that my ideas are the final word on the topic.  I'm a devotee of Jungian psychology and I think Jung would cringe at the idea of someone claiming a dream encyclopedia was the definitive word on a symbol's meaning.  In fact, his quote was, "Learn all you can about mythology then forget it."  He was very big on personal dream interpretations.  I try to hit the high points of symbols in the articles I write, but really a person's personal associations are always the place to start.  Generalizations are where one starts, not ends, when it comes to dream interpretations.

I love dreams and dream interpretation and think they are invaluable tools to self understanding and can be powerful tools for growth and that's why I write about them--they are my passion.

What I'm really looking forward to, outside of having an outlet for expressing that which I'm passionate about is reading what others are passionate about and learning from others.  I am totally addicted to knowledge.  I just need to know things.  I'm known as a great secret keeper but it's not because I'm particularly saintly.  It's  because my need to know FAR outweighs my need to tell and I learned a long time ago that the way to know is not to tell. LOL.

I'm looking forward to finding more things to know here in this great community.

    Thank you all again!!!

      Hello Esme!

I share most of your points of view for dream interpretation.  I have a passion for dreams. I love to listen to the dream experiences of others.  I find that sharing dreams and hearing the thoughts of another strengthens our understanding of who we are and why we dream what we do.
I look forward to reading some interesting things! Welcome to hubpages!

Hi Esme I am passionate about the guidance dreams give us. I am glad someone is talking about this. I am currently reading a book called Sighted but Blind about this lady's numerous dreams and the interpretations. It is very interesting and informative. You could compile all the thoughts gathered here. Keep up the good work.

I am a post Jungian who undertook Jungian dream therapy. smile I found it complex and rewarding and after 3 years, though pretty hard work.

Dealing with the information handed over by the subconscious was of course tougher than the dream therapy and is an ongoing project. smile

    Welcome to hubpages.

I am a firm believer in the power of my dreams.  A long time ago I realized that so many of the published books on the topic contradict each other on what they claim the meaning of certain symbols are.  As such I taught myself how to differentiate between what type of dream I had, what correlation it had to what was currently going on in my life, and how I felt about it.  After many years perfecting my personal system, I can almost always discern the meaning behind any dream I have now.

For example, the other night I dreamt about going thrift-store hopping with my mother but the only thing I was looking for was a particular ring.  When I woke I thought about it and realized that I was subconsciously reckognizing my desire to live frugally as well as my fustration over not being able to wear my wedding band right now.

Other dreams are forecasting though almost always not litterly to the letter of my dream.  I figured that out after several cases of what I initally thought was deja vu then a friend reminded me that I discussed said event with her previously, in the form of a dream.  It's all very interesting and powerful.

By the way, in ABSOLUTELY no way do I consider myself a psycic!  I just realized how that last paragraph read and it's not like that. smile
