Do you believe in the Summerland or something similar such as Tir Na Nog or Heaven, etc.? Do you also believe in reincarnation or a recycling of energy? What do you, as a Pagan, believe in as far as life after death? For me, I am a believer in the Summerland (I also refer to it as Tir Na Nog from time to time) and also believe that we have a choice to reincarnate or not.

Unfortunately when it comes to matters of any sort of afterlife, there is not any evidence for the myriad of beliefs. We are all believing in what we like the sound of in that sense. The only "evidence" is based upon personal observations and experiences in combination with personal beliefs and values that have led us to our conclusions.

There is, however, current evidence of the possibility of a soul of sorts based upon observed energy releases at the moment of death. Of course, current science believes the energy does not stick together but rather dissipates. If this idea is correct, then our souls are constantly breaking down and coming together in various orders to be reborn again into another life-form. It definitely brings a new understanding to beliefs that all people are interconnected.

I don't believe there is only one option for the soul after death. For some, a summerland or heaven of sorts exists as a resting place for the soul to heal before rebirth. For others, they may act as spiritual guides (also called Ancestors, or Guardian Angels) to aid the world of the living. Regardless of where the soul ultimately goes or does in the afterlife, I definitely believe the concept of time as we know it runs differently for that realm. In fact, time may not even be linear in the afterlife. It would definitely explain quite a few afterlife and paranormal beliefs.

I believe in reincarnation however I believe in a place like Heaven, I suppose in a way it's very close to Summerland. Like you I feel that we have a choice to reincarnate until we have learned everything there is to learn.

I'm not really sure what I believe. I do however try not to dwell on what may or may not happen, but rather I try to enjoy the present. That's what I love about Paganism, it's all about living in the present, but using our present time to prepare for the future. Paganism encourages us to recycle, preserve the earth, etc. etc. Whilst doing all this in a present time mindset, we're actually helping the future as well. Such a lovely concept. smile

"What do you think about life after death as a Pagan?"

Life after death is the same for everybody, whatever the religion or no-religion.; if one achieves the purpose of life set by the Creator God, then one attains another life with different dimensions otherwise one does not get to it.

Do the pagans have a Word revealed; that you talk of a "Summerland or something similar such as Tir Na Nog"?

I personally feel that, just like our life here, there are things that we must do as spirit.

You're welcome. I must say you've done a pretty good job with ignoring it but it's understandable to reach a point where you have to be sarcastic.

I'm not sure what to think, however, my experience in life has shown me that there is something else for us after our physical bodies stop functioning. When I was a child I contemplated death quite a bit. I was a little bit fearful of it but not in the way most might expect. What worried me the most was my loved ones and what life would be like without me around. As I wandered in dreamtime, I was shown things that released me from my fears and worry and ever since then death did not scare me. Sure the idea of my untimely death made me sad, but I would not worry about it. As I grew older and lived life, I had experiences that were strange as well as some more common but still strange- such as deja vu, dreams of other times (as well as planets outside of our solar system). Sometimes I would be reading a historical non-fiction book and something would strike me, sending shivers or an energy rush through my being and that is when I would start remembering things of the past. These things also seemed connected to this lifetime. Such as my fear of heights.
It would be later in life that I began to study the concept of reincarnation and it all clicked. It was like having all the puzzle pieces and now I had the picture to put the puzzle together. Then I learned tarot and worked with looking into past lives using the cards. While my motto is 'anything is possible'... I am still scientific minded and skeptical. I read cards with the thought that what ever came from the cards may or may not be a view of a past life, but still contained valuable information. What I did discover was that the 'stories' I saw in the cards had (what my clients would say) spooky parallels between the life now and the story told (let it be known that I usually know nothing about my clients lives and their personal history).
With that, I have to lean towards there being something to reincarnation.
I also did a reading for myself because I was having an awful time with my ex and wanted to know what my Karmic debt was that created this drama and pain. The story that unfolded was unexpectedly ugly. I was an horribly awful person. After the reading I felt I better understood things and was able to let go of the mental hindrances the relationship caused me. Funny thing too...my ex stopped being so abusive. Perhaps it was karma and my realization or maybe it was just my own change of attitude. Either way, it was a benefit.

What if Isaac Newton only  had an intuition that the apple falls because the planet pulls it - and he had no evidence to show? Could you believe him? Doesn't that idea, that you will just fly once you are in space, sound a bit mad?

This is for all faiths. What does one think about life before birth? This emptiness is what life after death would be like.

I believe in heaven and in reincarnation. I hope that I am able to stay rested when I go and not have to come back because I also believe that our souls are able to recognize different people so we are drawn to them and there are just some I would not like to run into anymore.

Blind faith is no faith; faith should be based on reasons , arguments and research.

What are you afraid of? Reason, arguments and research harm nobody; they provide eyes to the faith and one sees everything clearly.

Why should one remain blind when one can see with eyes?
