They think I'm 45-54.  I'm about to turn 64, so that is not too far off. They are pretty good on everything else.

Hmm, google thinks I'm a 25-34 year old male.

I'm a 22 year old female. I guess all those math, biology, gaming, and computer science websites must be giving off the impression that I'm male.

That's what I get for being a nerd.

Well, the other day a Walmart checker said "Thank you, young man" to me.  When I got to Hannaford's, I tried to convince the checker there to say "Here's your receipt, geezer" - just to rebalance the universe - but she would not.

It thinks I'm a 35-44 year old female (it underestimated my age by a decade, but I'm more than happy with that lol).

So can someone please tell me why the email spam I get is targeted almost entirely at males? (It mainly consists of advertising for gadgets and cars, and young women saying they want a relationship with me.)

    1. leroy64 profile image65
leroy64posted 12 years agoin reply to this

I think the people who compile the email lists for spam probably don't check them very closely.  Google thinks I am a female 18-24, despite the information and picture on my profile; but, I am still get those emails selling "wives" from various countries.  Also hair loss remedies, and other male afflictions.

leroy, Google thinks I am a MALE 18-24.. I know for sure I am NOT  a male and certainly not 18-24... well, once upon a time I was... 18-24, not male of course.  Maybe too much Facebook?  Is going to Facebook once a week too much?  Well, at least I don't get emails selling wives from various countries, nor hair loss remedies and other male afflictions. lol

I was also classed as 18-24, which puts it at up to 40 years inaccurate.

I deleted all the "interests" stored for me. Only one of them was even close.

However, when I tried to use the opting out feature, I was invited to download yet another cookie, which would enable further spying!
