    What do you call HUMANITY?

Treating each other as Gods and Gods alike.  To be human...understanding, compassion, laughing, helping etc.  You know, whatever it takes to help a brotha out.  peace.

      Good day everyone!

Religion is “the service and worship of God...  commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance” .

Religion may be sincere or insincere; true or false; rewarding or vain
      (Matt. 15:9; Jas. 1:26-27).

For me It gives direction in life, it ought to mean purity, it ought to mean victory over sin of this world, it helps to define our very being.

What a shame. You poor thing. I really feel for you.

Have you considered defining your very being yourself instead? It is very rewarding.

      RELIGIONS

The entire Buddhist monk’s life is but a preparation,
For his Death Point or moment of separation.

      The Jains have santhara,
Quitting life consciously to join with the paramatma.

      Hindus go into Samadhi,
Where there is no Congress, Shiv Sena, BJP or Samajwadi.

The Christian merges with the Holy Spirit,
      Peace, no more desperate.

The Sufi mystic to become one,
Dances, twirls, prays, trances to get the job done.

      Aghora means Illumined with Light,
Longing for Shiva in whom they delight.

Shamanism or the Art of Ecstasy,
The ultimate being one with the super entity.

There is no need to change your faith,
And on your old religion lay a wreath.

I cannot force you to understand or appreciate it.I believe there is not  a single poem written by man which matches up to this poem not counting other poems from my book Ponder Awhile, forget Shakepeare,I allways said I am much better than him.

Mohit - allow me to make a serious comment:

Poetry is not just 'content' presented in rhyme. Even if the content of your poem here were the most enlightened wisdom ever uttered by man, that, in itself, would not make the poem good as a poem.

Francois Villon (Google him if you like) wrote one of the world's great ballades in a French dungeon "The Ballade of the Hanged" the night before his execution. (By luck, the King rode through the town that night, so all prisoners were released - a traditional medieval amnesty, so he walked free). The Ballade was not 'enlightened'. It was full of bitterness and self pity. Not a pretty mixture, But it was/is great because Villon was a great poet. One who single-handedly rescued the tired old ballade form from obscurity and gave it new life.

Poetry is about words. The affective power of language. You can have divine poetry about lice and you can have lousy poetry about divinity. An example of the former is Robert Burns's 'To a Louse'. I'll stop there.

He Used to be a Football star.  A poem made up by Sandra (that's me) dedicated to those living in the past.

He used to be a football star,
    he's interception dominated the field,
his glory was his fist, his weakness...
no one around to witness it.

One day the audience was small,
he felt incapable of playing ball
for it was always in his mind,
    that football meant nothing
without someone to share it with.

    He fell off the stand,
    he clapped his hands
    he made a fist,
and a tomato caught him off gaurd.

They laughed, get off the stage you poser,
this field is for the birds,
Oh how the football player became angry,
shaking his fist at the birds,
    feeling sorrow for the audience
who did not care for football,
after all they were there to watch the birds.

    Shorty after, he retired
his head bruised till his passion
    became drunk on fury.

He died that day on the field
he believed that he was to entertain people with
his skill for football, but in the end
    they came for the birds,
and the football star that could have been
resented all his fans, because one day
    they didn't come for him.

Well, I think we can all agree that Mo's poetry is the third worst in the universe.

So, I created a google poetry search engine to search the best poetry sites on the 'net.

    http://www.google.com/coop/cse?cx=00404 … 1cfytfrsv0

It will search  the following sites:

    http://100-poems.com/

which is a user generated top 100 poems site. 86,000,000 people have voted on this site.

    http://www.poetry.net

Another popular site with lists of the best of all types of poems.

    http://www.poetryfoundation.org/

Another user-rated site with millions of poetry sites linked to and poems rated.

A search for mohit misra returns the result:

"Your search - mohit misra - did not match any documents.

    Suggestions:

        * Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
        * Try different keywords.
        * Try more general keywords.
        * Try fewer keywords."

Even the internet agrees - not worth the paper it is not printed on.

Religion means you feel the need to be with people who think and feel the same as yourself.  I think Mohit has a religion of his own.  I think he worships himself and worships his poetry.  Can a person do that?  I guess so.

Religion is a crap shoot.  I dislike religion for 1 reason, well actually a lot of reasons but mostly because they try and brainwash you into beleiving and conforming to things you do not believe and somehow mangae to convince people that thier actions are right because God made them do it.

Well God doesn't make anyone do anything.  God can do things and offer you a choice and I choose to decline to be apart of any religion.

I was thinking I would be a Jehovah's witness, but I changed my mind because I don't need to be apart of a relgion to serve Gods purpose nor do I need to feel like I am part of anothers group to feel like I have a place in this world.

My place is in chosing to believe in God in my own way and when anyone says, you can't do that, or God will do this to you, or you should repent or you should bla, bla, bla, I say go take it up with God and see what He says about it, until then all relgion ever does is cause people to feel horrible about themselves, it makes people with ignorant egos to exhault themselves, and it causes stupid genicide, rediculas treatment, unfair treatment of fellow man kind.

Religion never practices what they preach.

I have my own religion, it's called if God don't want me for His sunbeam then I don't want God for mine.  smile

Enlightenment broadly means wisdom or understanding enabling clarity of perception.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enlightenment_(concept)

    enlightened
    Adjective
    1. rational and having beneficial effects: an enlightened approach to social welfare
    2. (of a person) tolerant and unprejudiced

    http://www.thefreedictionary.com/enlightened

Which of these definitions fit Mo? Enlightenment, from my knowledge, is mostly a pagan term. Jesus was not a pagan nor was He ever a pagan. Was Jesus enlightened?

He taught self denial while most beliefs teach self realization. Was He a liar? He would call Mo a false prophet. He would say that Mo's father is the devil. What do you think about that Mo?

    SirDent,

I don't think it is correct to characterise "enlightened" as a pagan term. Unless, of course, you define all non-Christians as pagans. It is certainly central to Buddhism, for example.

There are certainly Christians who have been enlightened - Mother Theresa springs to mind - and I am sure the word is used in ecclesiastic circles without carrying any taint of paganism.

You'd have to ask Jeromeo whether the JWs ever use it, because they are the most fanatical Christian sect about rooting out all lingering cultural practices that have any pagan element - like candles on birthday cakes, for example.

If there was a pagan taint to the word "enlightened", the JWs would be on to it.

I am not sure that what you talk about with Jehovah is correct.  I have been spending a lot of time talking to Jeromeo, and they are more grounded to reality than you would think.  It is really rather funny because they seem more down to earth than any of the other christian sects, and because Jeromeo can and does accept people for what they are, it really says a lot about the belief.

Just my two cents.  And I have definetly witnessed worse behavior, no offense, in the baptist sect. which really gets my nerves kicking.  from what I have seen with my own eyes and heard with my  own ears,  baptist and many other sects. are backstabbing, slandering fools who wish to discredit everyone else, but this is not so with jehovah.

      that is my opinion.  smile

  24. Inspirepub profile image73

    Sandra,

    I am confused.

I didn't say anything criticising JWs - I just pointed SirDent at them for guidance as to what is tainted with pagan influence.

I know quite a bit about JWs, and have been to Kingdom Halls, because my daughter did JW scripture for a year, and I wanted to know exactly what they would be teaching her. I think they have probably the most accurate translation of the Bible, for example.

The JWs have the least pagan influence in their version of Christianity, because they are quite fanatical about eliminating it, to the extent of avoiding Christmas decorations and birthday candles because of their pagan origins.

They still do the days of the week though - Sun Day, Moon Day, Zeus' Day, Woden's Day, Thor's Day, Freya's Day and Saturn's Day - so they are not 100% fanatical about avoiding absolutely all pagan influence at all costs.

Religion seem to be believed by Christians and non Christians as a form or way of Godliness and worship to God but I tell you, it's not! The play of religion by some religious folks is the major reason people walk by sight instead of faith in God. God is a Spirit and should be worshiped in Spirit and Truth not forms, doctrines, buildings, and manly ordiances. Religion should be the walk and act of faith beyond our sensory perceptions. Thank you!
