What most people forget is that Christianity is not a religion and that Jesus the founder was against organized religion. Christianity is a way of life that works when you love God.
Seems that what "most people forget" is how to use a dictionary.
I agree that Christianity is not a religion founded by Jesus; he was a Jew and followed truthful teachings of Moses in letter and spirit. I don't think Jesus was against organized religion; if that have been the case he won't have been a Jew. He was against the clergy; as they were corrpt people and exploined others in the name of religion.
I have not found in the Bible where Jesus was against organized religion. There are plenty of references that tell us his parents followed all the Jewish traditions in his upbringing and he and his disciples attended worship in the Temple and synagogue. If Christianity is not a religion, how do you fill in that section in a census?
There are organized religions that practice Christianity example Baptists Catholics and others.
Baptists, Catholics, etc. are denominations of the Christian religion, i.e. they are branches of Christianity. Religion, according to the dictionary, is the belief in and worship of a God or gods. Christianity is the belief and practice of the Christian religion. And yes, friend, that includes celebrating the fact that God loves us and we love Him - and that is just great!
But Jesus was not a Christian; he was Jew.
I agree with you; Jesus admonished the clergy because they were corrpt people.
You are correct,Bill,in saying that Christianity is not a religion. It is a SALVATION to the spirits of humankind.
Most of the world would like to have their cake and eat it too,but it cannot be done.
Each religion have its own founder. The 12 Apostle's are the founders of the Christian Faith after the resurrection of Christ.
As it is written...Neither is there salvation in any other:for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.
Religion is a pagan way of trying to present the idea of worship toward God...but are not accepted by God. Every road is not the right road, and every idea do not fit within the ethics of Christianity.
Whatever title of religion such as Baptist,Catholic, and so forth, are separate titles from the Christian Faith.
The bible teaches that they were first call Christian's.......and nothing else under no other name.Everyone that say "I am a Christian" are not Christian's.They can claim the name...but not the fame.
Tell the truth, and shame the devil. You said it well my friend ,keep telling it like it is.
You are mistaken. Whichever way one thinks Jesus might have leaned on the subject...you guys are religious. I can't understand why you might think otherwise. I realize the word has become almost a dirty word, but you need to accept what you are. Christianity is a religion.
You are wrong in your concept. Religion is is what came about from people that have chosen to present their own agenda concerning God. It is written in 1 John 2 v 19
' They went out from us....but they were not of us. This speaks about a separation of Christianity from religion and those that choose other titles to present themselves except Christian . They are the ones that seek to enjoy the fruits without being one of those that planted the seeds. OR, those that seek to have their cake and eat it too. Christianity is from above....religion is from beneath and there is a great divide between the 2. But one can only see this on the other side of religious doctrine.
Since you quote from the Bible, and live your life in line with its teachings (because you consider it to be pleasing in the eyes of God) you are religious. Sorry, that's how I understand the word to be defined.
Sorry this is not religion its love there is a big difference. Religion is a bunch of traditions and laws that must be followed Christianity is not about following rules and traditions.
Tell me if any of this makes sense:
I'm not a member of a political party, I'm a Democrat.
I don't drink soda, I drink Coke
I don't live in a house, I live in a home.
I don't use a computer, I use a Mac.
Hmmm...
So Christianity is not about rules and traditions. Then what is the difference between a Christian and a non-Christian?
More self righteousness and less intelligence.

Why are so many people afraid of the Christian religion?Jesus teaches love and compassion. Christianity teaches the Ten Commandments. So what is so frightening about the Christian religion that makes people attack those who believe? Is it the pagan level of society today? Is...

It is my contention that the Christian religion (and specifically following Christ) is guaranteed to cause conflict, wars and ill will.As proof - I cite the last 1800 years - including the hubpages forums as evidence. Not only are these forums littered with arguments between atheists and believers,...

There's a lot of going back and forth about how Christians are this that or another. Yet no one ever pins down exactly what specific belief it is that makes Christians delusional, or hateful or whatever. The fact is that not all Christians believe the same thing, and not even members of our own...
