Just a fun post for everyone. I'd like to know your favourite tv series and why, that's all smile
I'm personally torn between The Walking Dead and Prison Break, although I think PB takes the spot but only just.

Would love to know everyone elses opinion!

I just realized I haven't watched a tv series in quite a while. But when I did, I was hooked on "Lost". It was a show full of surprises, mystery, an intriguing plot, and an attractive cast! The setting was pretty, too (an island).

AHh, you need to find something to watch and get hooked, it's awesome! smile I'm hooked on breaking bad and walking dead at the moment. I started to watch Lost but couldn't get into it for some reason so I might give it another go.

There are some shows that are pretty cool, and yet I still don't always get into them, so I can understand why you couldn't get into "Lost".
My cousin is into at least one of the two shows you mentioned.

I've recently started watching Nashville, My mad fat diary and Utopia all highly addictive and great viewing. smile
I used to enjoy Lost too, I didn't get to see it after it went to Sky though, so I have absolutely no idea what happened. tongue

Wow, I would hate to not know what happened in "Lost". I missed seasons of it on tv, but ended up buying the entire series. A touch expensive, but I like it!

Don't tell me what happens because I might just have to buy the entire series too. smile

My husband and I watch Warehouse 13, White Collar, and Eureka.

I used to watch Eureka! I watched about 1/2 of the first season. I am terrible about keeping up with shows.

Netflix is my lifesaver when it comes to following a series.  I normally wait until a series in complete and then watch it all either on Netflix or online.

Awesome idea! I forgot about Netflix. There are some shows that play on certain online sites for free, and in times past I have watched that way. But once I get really behind, it's nice to ave a DVD to watch.

My favorite is Doctor Who.  It has the right amount of scary, adventure, romance, and comedy.  It the absolute perfect show in my eyes.

I tend to wait for tv shows to come out then catch them all up on either Lovefilm or Netflix. And if they're not on there then I'll just buy them smile

Has anyone seen Heroes? What do you think of it?

If I had that channel, I would be watching that show, too. I love ancient history, and movies like that are usually great!

Ah, I watched the first 2 seasons of Spartacus and found it very good. I'm also very much into ancient history such as the romans and the spartans. I've not seen Game of Thrones yet but that looks awesome too!

In terms of anime, Slayers NEXT.
In terms of serialized Western TV shows, Daria.
In terms of general TV programming, The Naked Archaeologist.

The Naked Archaeologist - i've not heard of this show, sounds interesting though, besides the obvious, what's it about?

It follows Simcha Jacobovici as he bops around the Holy Land looking for archaeological evidence of Biblical stories, clues as to who ancient peoples were, and insights into how people lived in those days.

Looks pretty cool. Is it more like a documentary or is it a fictional drama tv show sort of thing?

It's a bunch of half-hour documentaries with a comedic tone. He uses footage from old movies or humorous illustrations to make the points presented easier to visualize, and perhaps just to make it more entertaining, too.

I just love "Justified." It's on FX. I also can't wait for Game of Thrones on HBO, it comes back March 31st.

Easily The Shield, probably followed by The Wire. But The Shield was just something else. It really got me going. Great performances for great characters, lots of layers to each character, such dark tones, very raw approach. Loved it.

As for The Wire, it has such a broad scope, such great ambition. It's something that I can always relate to anything that's happening in society.

well, the OP didn't specify new or old, so I'm going to have to go with old.  (I don't really watch TV anymore, nothing of interest to watch) and I can't choose just one!

    In no particular order:

    M*A*S*H
    Northern Exposure
    Picket Fences
    ER
    The Waltons
The Partridge Family (okay, okay, sheesh!!  I'll admit I only watched to see David Cassidy!  ...and to listen to the music  big_smile )
    21 Jump Street
    Smallville
    7th Heaven
    Party of Five
    The Twilight Zone (original)

One thing all of these shows have in common (except the Partridge Family) is a level of philosophy inherent to the plot.  All of these shows dug deep into the questions and meanings of life without being preachy.
