If you're here to earn income, then "winning the hearts" of other members is irrelevant.

You will start making money when 90% of your visitors come from outside Hubpages - and most of those people will arrive at one of your Hubs via Google, and never even notice who you are.

The way to success here is not to win friends and influence people, it's to write quality articles answering problems and questions people search for on the internet.

The community is a nice bonus and a great way to network with other writers, not a money-making opportunity.

Hello Shrouds, don't worry about your background. Write about what interests you. Review the suggestions on the HubPages Tutorial from time to time. I suspect we do not have enough science writers, so if that's your thing, I think you'll get readers. Many blessings!

Cultural or continental bar is not here in HP.  We all write here for some popularity and for more money.  Asians especially the Indians do so well here.  Anamika, a popular hubber has got a traffic of 10 millions. Can you believe?  Keep on writing confidently and succeed.  Best of luck.

I am from India and thoroughly enjoying my time here in HP. Everybody out here is very much encouraging and the background is actually not important to showcase your creativity. Many hubbers with Asian background are doing very well here and you too have long way to go ahead. Best wishes always

I agree with you HP is a platform to enhance the relationship between Hubbers,I will make sure to start a new beginning of understanding on HP to improve myself ,thanks for kind advice!

As other hubbers have pointed out, it is not your background but your content which decides your course here. There are plenty of Asian writers who are prolific on this site. And, as Marisa rightly pointed out, the site is a great avenue for making money only if you are getting decent traffic from google and not from HP,

Just keep the quality of your content to the highest levels possible and do not worry, not only Asian hubbers, but hubbers from other continents will support you at your every step. Just tread forward and savour the opportunity. Good luck

Hi Shrouds! I´m an Asian writer living in 2 continents,  Asia and Europe. Yes, of course there are many Asian writers here in HP and they are doing well. They win the hearts as you say it "from other regions." You have to write quality, interesting and engaging hubs for readers to read. You can write about your beautiful country and about things that interest you which you have information to share to others. How about writing your culture and traditions? I´m interested to know about it. I wish you good luck in writing.

I like to write about my tradition and culture and you know sometime the lack of things here and there such as real photos, videos makes me a little bit slowing down.

Hi Shrouds, I'm an Asian writer too and I've been on HP for a month already. What I can suggest to you is that do not focus on getting other people to like you. Instead, focus on writing high quality hubs that people will find useful and valuable. If you constantly produce engaging hubs that are of general interest to many people you will surely gain a lot of followers.

On my part, I really do not aim to have tons of followers or win the hearts of other users. I use HP in a more profitable manner. I'm a freelance writer and my hubs function as kind of a portfolio. I direct my clients to my hubs for them to gauge whether my style and writing skills will suit their standards or not.

Also, I use HP for link-building. There are some webmasters that are willing to pay a high price for you to write hubs and then link them to their websites. I once earned $50 for writing two easy hubs on a fairly easy topic and then linking them back to the client's website.

Well, anyway, I hope you find this helpful. Make the most out of HP by viewing it in a more profit-oriented way.

Hi Shrouds, I'm glad to know you.  While I'm not Asian, I am American and love to learn about different cultures.  Like Paul said, don't focus on getting 'followers' just focus on high quality hubs and use the hub builder to make your hubs 'evergreen'.  Practice your English writing skills as some people here can get quite nasty in the forums.

I'm off to read your hubs..

Well India's in Asia so from that aspect, there are many Asian writers here. But if you mean writers specifically from the "Orient" for lack of a more specific term... I don't know how HP's gauges that. Maybe you could specify what area you were wondering about?

    1. Paul Corvan profile image67
Paul Corvanposted 10 years agoin reply to this

Yeah, there are a lot of Indian/Bangladeshi writers here in HP. I'm from the Orient and it seems that only few from our region are writing here in HP.

Shroud, when I was in graduate school (journalism school), I was in classes with two Asian ladies and I loved them both and became friends with them. I don't think any real writer on hub pages makes any distinction as to where the writer lives or what race or nationality he or she is. I think we all will welcome you and give you a chance. Please excuse some of the nonprofessionals who haunt some of the pages just to criticize and cause trouble. Some of them are not writers and have not reason to criticize. I, for one, will follow you and give you a chance. Welcome to HubPages!

Nice to meet you Shroud! I am also an Asian and been here for a month already. Hubpages is so great. They give us the chance to share everything through our hubs and earn some money from them as well. I guess Asians can be successful in capturing the interest of readers from the different parts of the world. As long as your hubs are of high quality(which includes proper grammar and appropriate use of English language), very informative and search friendly, your hubs will be read by wide audience regardless of your location.

Hi Shrouds. I believe everyone can be a good writer as long as they are passionate about writing. I am a Filipina from Southeast Asia and a couple of weeks ago, I won a Rising Star Accolade. I honestly didn't expect that. Moreover, as Asians, we need to continue improving our English language since English is the language being used here in HP. Good luck!

sunilkunnoth2012posted 10 years agoin reply to this

Exactly right.  English is not our first language. So we need to work hard to improve it.  Hope the English speaking people will tolerate our minor mistakes.

The geographical location does not make any difference. What matters is the demand for our content. Those who write good articles and they are found in the search by people who look for that information, will reach our hubs and read them. Asians also write about other countries and others too write about Asia.
