I can remember when I first started college and was taking a Geology class when I realized, suddenly, that the only constant in life is change.  It was an "aha" moment for me when I realized that even the earth beneath my feet was constantly moving and changing.

Yes, physical death is certain. We are rapidly approaching a time of scientific evolution where "mental" life" may possibly be extended to near immortality. But physical death is still certain.

For me, that is a comforting thought. For a beginning there should be an end, Even if that "end" is only another beginning.

      Just sayin'

How do you know life isn't predetermined?

One can not "know." One can only "believe" life is predetermined.

Sorry I can't offer a pertinent comment, just wanted to say it is good to see you are still around. I have missed your contributions. But, given the trend of the current threads, I can understand why. I have only succumbed to desperation replies myself.

Geez, the vitriol and rhetoric of the current "popular" threads is very disheartening for a Curmudgeon looking for a good argument.

Greetings back attcha, curmudge! Be patient. A new election cycle will soon be underway. The wack-a-mole mallets will be swinging again with a whole new slate of moles. Your curmudgeonliness will find new outlets for sure. big_smile
May the force be with you, bro.

Actually according to the Bible, the tree of life is within and that is very consistent. The seasons are very predictable, the sun's burning is predictable. Stars in the sky show absolute predictability. Human nature is predictable. The fact that there are usually very few saints on earth at one time has shown to be consistent throughout history. There will always be trouble for mankind on earth. So yes, some things ARE predictable, God shet!
God's love is predictable as well, now that I am thinking about it. According to Jesus, God's love is always there for us. All we have to is tune into it!
Thanks for letting me speak this way at Christmas time.
