All of a sudden I find 4 of my hubs unfeatured, for lack of quality, for the first time. These hubs are from 2 to 3 years old and more and get a good amount of traffic from a few hundred views to several hundred views a month. What can possibly go wrong with such hubs when all along up to this time they were all featured? Should I contact the Hubpages team?

Good luck, the process is a great mystery. The best you can hope for if you contact the team is to ask for a few hints at what may be wrong. They will not go into specifics. All you can do is to remove that, change this, delete an amazon ad or two, remove some links,, etc, one step at a time until it passes. You will learn nothing from the process because the real reason will still not be known. You may even want to reverse some changes if you are game, after it passes. Good luck, I wish you well!

It happens sometimes, and you may even get a letter from them when they decide to unfeature a hub.  You can try the following -
Just remove one of the amazon links,
If any photo is not quite good, remove it,
If any link is pointing towards a promotion website remove it.
Then submit it again. Most probably it will be featured again, after their approval.
I had such experiences, and doing the above methods, they were featured again.

It happened to me too Rajan. 4 years being featured with quality and then suddenly not in good quality anymore. I keep on editing and editing but the 2 of those 4 unfeatured are  unfeatured again. I think I give up and transfer  those hubs in my blogs. It´s frustrating you know.

Being unfeatured has nothing to do with quality.  It has to do with either lack of traffic, or failure to meet HubPages' new rules.

All of my hubs are featured, but occasionally one or two will slip.  It is very easy to get them back to being featured and takes only a couple of minutes.  Change the title, replace the lead photo and it should begin the process with an icon indicating it is processing the new data.  Good luck.  Who knows why this happens?  Nobody I know.  I just accept it as periodic maintenance.

Sorry this happened to you Rajan.  The rules have changed since you wrote those hubs, and your hub no longer complies.  I would recommend checking the new rules about what is considered over-promotional. That is the most likely cause

All of the products and links that you put in the hub must be directly related to the topic of the hub. So if you write about cleaning carpets, then a capsule about buying a carpet would not fit. You can use directly related  ones with cleaning supplies and tools, etc.

Hi Rajan, I know that it can be frustrating when a Hub becomes defeatured; that being said, hopefully you can use it as an opportunity to improve your work.  I took a look at your defeatured Hubs, and I think you should remove all of your products.  If you decide to leave one, leave a personal recommendation on that specific product.  Take a look at our FAQ on spammy elements, for more information on product use.  I regularly look at my Amazon earnings and if I notice that items are not being purchased, I remove them.  I hope that helps.  You write information that is very useful, but it's important to update Hubs to remain relevant. Let me know if you have any other questions.  smile

Thanks Robin! I guess I'll go with this suggestion and see. Thanks again!

Don't worry Rajan! I have also experienced this sort of situation. Just edit your hubs a little bit and submit it for publication. You will get them featured very soon. It it doesn't just remove Ebay and Amazon links. I hope you will get them featured again.

I check for grammar errors, add a sentence or two and it does the trick. Some of my older hubs are rather short by todays standard.  Sometimes Amazon changes the product in a URL and what is currently there has no resemblance to what I originally chose.
