It's my one year anniversary on Hub Pages. Yes, I came over with the throng of refugees from Squiddo. I've enjoyed it here tremendously over the year, even with the few negatives. Though I've been outta pocket for some months, Hub Pages isn't far from my mind. So, by way of celebration (and I'll log in frequently today), tell me a few things about yourselves, fellow hubbites. Let's keep it positive, friendly and considerate of others.
1. How long have you been on HubPages as a writer?
2. If you came over from Squiddo, how has it gone with you for this last year?
3. What's your draw for being here on HubPages?
4. If you could change one thing in the Hub universe (just one and only one) what would it be?
5. What improvements over the last year have you seen on HubPages that you really cheer about?
Congratulations, Arachnea, and I'm very glad you've enjoyed your first year here on HubPages! We are deeply fortunate that so many wonderful Squidoo writers decided to stay and give us a chance. Having so many ex-Lensmasters around has made HubPages a much more interesting and diverse place.
Congrats! And very clever way to do the announcement of your anniversary, btw.
1. 5.5 or so years.
2. N/A
3. Multifaceted, but exercising writing skills is at the top of the list.
4. Hmmm, one thing…hmmm…though I've been there, done that, I would change something so poorly written hubs would not stay published. Everyone has a learning curve, everyone makes mistakes, but really...
5. I cheer a big yay for all improvements!
I, too, am fond of HubPages. I am a big believer in contributing to society. HubPages does it in spades.
The best thing about Hubpages is staying in touch with other writers. Things that have changed, poor quality Hubs geared to advertising a specific place or product. What happened to the warning by Hubpages that this Hub appears overly commercial. I like the new just published format.
Hello, fellow ex-squid! Happy anniversary! As for me, I find pleasure in meeting new hubbers and reading their hubs. I'm also trying to create more hubs. I think I'll find my place here on HubPages.
Hello I am here for almost three years.
Took a break in between when I was submitting my PhD
I enjoy the international flavor here though I don't earn much
Congratulations of your one year anniversary. I wish you more success in the future.
Happy Hubbiversary, Arachnea. Glad to see you are still here.
I just received my fifth year anniversary accolade, so am very pleased about that. I love HubPages. I came here for the fact HP lets us write on any topic - I stayed because of the constant challenges to do my best.
One thing I would like to change is the Topic page and the feed page. Have one for forums and QnA only and one for hubs only. I have a thread on it and so far it looks promising that it will happen.
Congrats happy one year! I've never written at Squidoo though at one point I thought about it. The transition must have been hectic but at least you made it Hubpages. The other writers and the writing resources are the best part of this site. The technical glitches and complications are probably the worst, but they've been getting better.
Congratulations on your anniversary, I hope too see you continue with HubPages and continue to provide great hubs.
Nice to receive this email. "You have hit a pretty impressive milestone—your 1 Year Anniversary on Hubpages! "
I have enjoyed it very much, wish I had taken more time years ago to understand HubPages and how it works, my kiwinana account is coming up to seven years.
Congratulations Arachnea, I wonder how many more Squidoo members are still writing here.
Happy first anniversary to all ex Squids
Congratulations on your first year Arachnea. Glad to see you still around, I hadn't seen any new hubs from you in awhile. I am approaching my sixth year here, and it is my favourite online hangout by far. A great community of like minded people where you can write whatever takes your fancy. I do like the new "author bio" feature. If I could change one thing...hmm...what Phyllis said about splitting the new home page into two with a separate one for forums and Q and A.
Today is also my one year anniversary in HP and I am also a former Squidoo.com lens master. I have enjoyed my one year in HP knowing a number of excellent writers and a lot of good men and women in this writing site. Cheers to All!
Former Squid still here at HP. May day job got more demanding so I am maintaining my existing hubs for now, but writing down new ideas for more each week... just need more time to focus on writing again..
Congratulations, Arachnea! I feel that you have been here longer on HP. Have many more happy years in the community!
Lots of great answers. Thanks for the participation in this thread. I so apreciate all of the well wishes. Phyllis, congrats on 5 years. Jodah, six, oh wow, congrats! Happy one year to you too, chateaudumer. I think the suggestions above for changes all sound good.
I also got a Hubbiversary note. Not that enthusiastic as I'm just expecting Hubpages would lower the payout threshold so that I can delete my remaining Hubs and leave. I really feel caught in a trap with this awful $50 min payout. Already deleted all my other accounts including my 7 year old one. Just waiting for the cents to add up on my former Squidoo account so that I didn't lose everything in the transfer.
And now their new HubPro basic program...
So nope, to me it's not a happy hubbiversary at all.

Hi HP Community,I wanted to acknowledge my 10 years at HubPages by thanking those special hubbers over the years and all of those great fellow writers I've met and learned from along the way. Without the help, support and encouragement I received, I would not have figured out, nor would I have...

I know that there has been plenty of discussion (and Hubs, by Darkside, Jimmythejock, Hovalis, and others) comparing HubPages to Squidoo, a similar Web service. We recently signed up with Quantcast, a service that tracks and makes publicly available, sites' traffic figures. Although we've only...

Last August, I joined HubPages, thinking it would be an "easy" way to make some extra money. Boy, was I wrong, but it's been an interesting ride, anyway.I'm not the most prolific Hubber or even close to being the most successful, but for a "Hubber Hobbyist," I'm happy with the...
