Hi HP Community,
I wanted to acknowledge my 10 years at HubPages by thanking those special hubbers over the years and all of those great fellow writers I've met and learned from along the way. Without the help, support and encouragement I received, I would not have figured out, nor would I have developed the stamina to hang in here with this thing called online writing. Although I was not a novice to writing, I knew nothing about creating online content. It's an entirely different animal. What a whirlwind, trial-by-fire experience! But with all the ups and downs, it's the community that I still come back to, to see what's happening, to maintain connections. With the votes of fellow hubbers, I was honored to receive the Hubbie Award for "Community Activist" a few years back.
Special thanks to the first hubber to welcome me with enthusiasm: Rich (rcrumple). He told me I had promise and shared the ins and outs of this site.
Others who reached out to me with technical advice about writing the best hubs: Bill Holland (billybuc), Carolee Samuda (Cardisa), Sondra (TIMETRAVELLER2) - may she continue to RIP, Susannah Birch (WryLilt), and Brandon Lobo (lobobrandon). Of course, there were others but too many to remember and name. You know who you are, I'm grateful to you, too.
I also extend a very special thanks to all of my followers and all who took the time to read my articles and leave gracious comments. You are appreciated.
As I pay it forward, I encourage new writers to keep on keeping on, hang in there, stay connected to the community and keep writing. The years will fly by fast. One year will become 5, and 5 years will become 10. You can do it with the help of this great HP community, along with your hard work, discipline, and study of the craft.
Love you guys, be blessed,
Janis (janshares)
Excellent achievement Jan. You do great work.
Congratulations, Janis. You've stated your gratitude quite eloquently!
Awesome!! Hooray!! Always appreciated your contributions with articles read and in the forum too!
Congratulations! You have a great achievement. Well done.
Congratulations on your writing anniversary. Have a wonderful day.
Congratulations, Jan. 10 years is a great milestone and you are a valued member of the community. All the best for the next 10 years.
Congratulations, Jan! Ten years is definitely an anniversary to celebrate.
Well done, Jan!
People come and go from here, it's good that some stick it out!
I didn't even know that Sondra (TIMETRAVELLER2) had passed on until I read your post!
Glad I'm sticking around, Paul. Yes, she passed about 2 years ago. She was the best, straight, no chaser.
She had covid, and along with her other health issues it was too much. Sad.
I did wonder, to be honest. I was helping her with her Youtube site and then she got her brain tumor back. She went quiet, so I assumed things weren't good.
Congratulations!
It's a great pleasure to know you and share in your joy.
10 years...that's terrific.
I hope I'm still here for my 10th anniversary.
This community is definitely great to reach out & help fellow writers.
Goodluck with all your writing adventures.
Thank you, Brenda, for celebrating with me. I'm giving you a special thanks for waking up my muse during dry spells or times of busyness. I credit you for inspiring the last five or six articles and getting me to hit the 100 mark.
Congratulations, Jan! It's always a pleasure reading your comments and keeping the connection.
Huge congrats on all of your continued success here on HP.
It seems I recall you starting one of the most interesting threads on the forums ever, "Slowing to look at a 400 car pileup." I think that was the title of it. Everyone was there. lol
Lol, my senior brain does not recall, Solaras! Do you know what it was about? Thanks for the congrats.
It was referencing some fight on a Forum post between HP and Squidoo members on another thread. Your forum post, commented on slowing down to look at a 400 car pile up, because the Forum post had become a kind of blood bath, with Paul stepping in to calm things down, and I think some even had temporary bans, as well as posts deleted because they were being reported for being "off topic" etc...
It was probably 3-4 months after the Squidoo acquisition. HP folks were mad that the bottom had fallen out of SERPs, as the acquisition coincided with a punishing Google update. Squidoo folks felt disrespected, especially those who were big wheels at Squidoo. They were mad that they had no forewarning, and were jumping ship, leaving their trashy articles behind.
Your Forum post blew up with 400+ comments, with more insults and grievances being aired. Some of it was comical. I remember Mark Ewbie commenting something like, "And there is this woman pointing her finger and screaming "THERE!" lol
I hope you remember it now. Management probably squirreled both Forum posts away. We are not likely to see them pop up at the bottom of a forum thread unless I try to make it do so. Maybe I will...
OMG, Solaras! Now it sounds familiar, lol. I remember it. I tried to find it but couldn't. Hope you have some luck. It would be fun to relive it. Those were the days.
So after mentioning Mark Ewbie over here a couple of times, this advert showed up in my Facebook feed. I wonder if this is his creation - sure likes like something he might do.
Congrats Janis!! You definitely are a valued member of the community. So happy for you, you made the milestone.
Congratulations Janis! I must confess I haven't read any of your articles, it takes me ages to read things, but I'll try sometime.
Congratulations Janis! I must confess I haven't read any of your articles or poems, it takes me ages to read things, but I'll try sometime.
Mr. Eugene is really nice and appears to be the only honest person on the planet.
Euguene, you are a great help on the forums and always notify us of any glitches or incorrectly placed ads... I suppose you could read Janis' hubs to figure out where ads should go. The benefits of 2 in 1
Just kidding...
Stay blessed!
Hooray...! Janis, congratulations. Ten years is a huge milestone. I'm so happy we connected here. Thank you for everything you do. We all learn from each other, and I still remember your words when you told me how to deal with writer's block. You are awesome, my friend.
Cheers!
Bless you and thank you, Misbah. You have been a bright light since joining HP. You have added to the spirit of this community that I have come to love. Thank you for celebrating with me.

Hooray, I just received notification from HP that I hit my seven-year anniversary. Thanks for the congratulations, HP. They suggested that for my anniversary present I buy myself a new set of HubPages writing tools (laptop, tablet, phone, camera, notebook...)". Hum, I don't think I...

It is hard to believe that 13 years have passed since I wrote my first post on this site. Many things have changed over the years, and what I appreciate most are the HP friends from all around the world that I have gotten to know. Cheers to friendships new and old!

Ok It's been 7 years since I started and I have enjoyed it ever since. There have been times when I almost gave up and lately I've had writers block, but maybe things will improve .
